"ABSTRAK
Latar Belakang: Penggunaan alat ortodonti cekat dapat mempengaruhi kondisi
jaringan periodontal akibat dari akumuasi plak yang sulit dibershikan, sehingga
dibutuhkan alat bantu tambahan dalam menjaga kebersihan mulut. Tujuan:
Mengetahui efektivitas alat bantu oral hygiene terhadap status periodontal
pemakai alat ortodonti cekat. Metode: Penelitian cross sectional, dengan tiga
puluh subjek berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling. Subjek penelitian di
ditanyakan mengenai penggunaan alat bantu oral hygiene, kemudian dilakukan
pemeriksaan indeks plak, indeks kalkulus, indeks perdarahan gingiva, dan
kedalaman poket. Hasil: Nilai rata-rata indeks plak, indeks kalkulus, indeks
perdarahan gingiva, dan kedalaman poket pada kelompok yang menggunakan alat
bantu oral hygiene dengan kelompok yang tidak menggunakan alat bantu oral
hygiene berbeda bermakna (uji Kruskal-Wallis dan Independent T-Test; p<0,05).
Kesimpulan: Penggunaan alat bantu oral hygiene efektif dapat menurunkan
indeks indeks plak, indeks kalkulus, indeks perdarahan gingiva, dan kedalaman
poket pada pengguna alat ortodonti cekat.

ABSTRACT
Background: The use of fixed orthodontic appliance can affect the periodontal
condition in result of plaque accumulation, so that the use of oral hygiene aid will
be neccessary. Objective: To know the effectiveness of oral hygiene aids to
periodontal status in fixed orthodontic patient. Method: The research is cross
sectional study with thirty subjects. The subjects were questioned about the use of
oral hygiene aid and then had their plaque index, calculus, index, papilla bleeding
index, and pocket probing depth examined. Result: The mean of plaque index,
calculus index, papilla bleeding index, and pocket probing depth in group with the
usage of oral hygiene aids and group without the usage of oral hygiene aids have
significant difference (Kruskal-Wallis dan Independent T-Test; p<0,05).
Conclusion: The Use of oral hygiene aids can reduce plaque index, calculus
index, papilla bleeding index, and pocket probing depth in fixed orthodontic
patient."

"[ABSTRAK
Latar Belakang: Peran root surface conditioning terhadap keberadaan smear layer.
Tujuan: Menganalisis hubungan antara penggunaan root surface conditioning (minosiklin 2,1% dan EDTA 24%) terhadap keberadaan smear layer setelah penghalusan akar gigi.
Metoda: Sepuluh gigi manusia yang dicabut akibat kelainan periodontal dan dilakukan penghalusan akar. Gigi dipotong pada daerah
sepertiga servikal, dan 30 spesimen yang terbentuk dibagi dalam tiga kelompok.
Hasil: Tidak ada perbedaan signifikan terhadap tingkat keberadaan smear layer antara kelompok minosiklin maupun EDTA (p=0,759). Terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara kelompok minosiklin dan EDTA dengan salin sebagai kontrol (p=0,00).
Kesimpulan: Ada hubungan antara penggunaan root surface conditioning terhadap keberadaan smear layer.

"[Latar Belakang: Regenerasi periodontal diawali dengan perlekatan bekuan fibrin yang stabil. Tujuan: Mengamati perbedaan tingkat perlekatan bekuan fibrin pada permukaan akar yang dilakukan root surface conditioning dengan menggunakan minosiklin dan EDTA. Metode: Tiga puluh buah permukaan akar gigi dibagi dalam tiga kelompok yaitu kelompok minosiklin, kelompok EDTA dan kelompok kontrol salin. Pada permukaan akar gigi dilakukan aplikasi darah segar dan dibiarkan berkoagulasi, bekuan fibrin di evaluasi dengan Scaning Electron Microscope. Hasil Penelitian: Tidak terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara bekuan fibrin kelompok minosiklin dengan EDTA (p=0,759). Kesimpulan: Bahan EDTA dan minosiklin menghasilkan kepadatan bekuan fibrin yang sama pada permukaan akar gigi.

Latar Belakang: Hipersensitif dentin dipengaruhi oleh akumulasi plak pada
permukaan gigi dan penetrasi bakteri pada tubulus dentin. Tujuan: Menganalisis
proporsi serotipe c Streptococcus mutans dan tingkat keasaman di dalam plak
dan saliva penderita resesi gingiva yang hipersensitif dentin dengan penderita
resesi gingiva yang non hipersensitif. Metode: Tiga puluh enam sampel plak dan
saliva dibagi dalam dua kelompok yaitu kelompok hipersensitif dan non
hipersensitif. Dilakukan ekstrak DNA sampel, pengukuran pH sampel dan
evaluasi amplifikasi serotipe c Streptococcus mutans dengan alat Real Time
PCR. Hasil: Proporsi serotipe c Streptococcus mutans di dalam plak dan
saliva tidak berbeda pada penderita resesi gingiva dengan hipersensitif
dentin maupun non hipersensitif, Kesimpulan: Proporsi serotipe c
Streptococcus mutans plak dan saliva tidak mempengaruhi hipersensitif
dentin.

"Latar Belakang: Streptococcus sanguinis merupakan bakteri yang sering ditemukan pada penyakit periodontal dan penyakit jantung koroner (PJK). Bakteri ini diduga berperan terhadap kedua penyakit tersebut melalui aliran darah. Tujuan: Menganalisis perbedaan kuantitatif S. sanguinis pada plak gigi dengan status periodontal pada penderita PJK dan non PJK. Metode: 66 pasien PJK dan 40 kontrol diperiksa status periodontal dan diambil sampel plak supragingiva dan kuantitatif S. sanguinis dihitung dengan menggunakan metode real time polymerase chain reaction. Hasil: Analisis statistik menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney tidak terdapat perbedaan bermakna kuantitatif S. sanguinis antara PJK dan non PJK (p > 0,05). Uji Spearman tidak terdapat hubungan antara kuantitatif S. sanguinis dengan akumulasi plak, perdarahan gingiva, dan kedalaman poket pada penderita PJK dan non PJK (p > 0,05). Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat perbedaan kuantitatif S. sanguinis penderita PJK dan non PJK. Tidak terdapat hubungan kuantitatif S. sanguinis dengan status periodontal antara PJK dan non PJK.

Background: Streptococcus sanguinis is a common bacteria found in periodontal disease and coronary heart disease (CHD). This bacteria is suspected to have important role in relationship between both diseases through blood streams. Objectives: To analyze quantitative difference of S. sanguinis on dental plaque between CHD and non CHD patients. Methods: 66 CHD and 40 non-CHD patients were examined for periodontal status and supragingival dental plaque were collected. Quantitative Measurement of S. sanguinis was done with RT-PCR. Result: Statistic analyzing using Mann-Whitney test showed there is no significant difference between S. sanguinis of CHD and non CHD (p > 0,05). Spearman test showed there is no correlation between quantitative S. sanguinis with plaque accumulation, gingival bleeding, and pocket depth in CHD and non CHD (p > 0,05). "Penyakit jantung koroner (PJK) merupakan penyebab kematian utama pada
sepertiga penduduk dunia. Di Indonesia, terjadi peningkatan prevalensi penyakit
jantung dan pembuluh darah sebagai penyebab kematian peringkat ke-3. Pada
tahun 2007 prevalensi PJK nasional mencapai 7,2%. C-Reactive Protein (CRP)
dikenal sebagai penanda fase akut inflamasi dan berhubungan dengan peningkatan
kadar plasma karena kerusakan jaringan. Beberapa penelitian menunjukkan
adanya hubungan antara periodontitis kronis dengan peningkatan kadar CRP.
Peningkatan CRP sedang saja sudah meningkatkan risiko PJK. Pada sampel
penelitian ini terlihat penderita periodontitis menunjukkan risiko yang tinggi
terhadap PJK. Dugaan adanya kaitan efek patogen periodontal secara langsung
maupun tidak langsung memicu infeksi, mekanisme ini mengaktivasi faktor?
faktor inflamasi sehingga CRP sebagai marker respon fase akut dari infeksi juga
akan meningkat.

Abstract
Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the leading cause of death in one third of world
population. In Indonesia, there is increased prevalence of cardiovascular disease
as a cause of death to the rank-3. In 2007 the national prevalence of CHD reached
7.2%. C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is known as acute phase inflammatory marker
and is associated with elevated levels of plasma due to tissue damage. Several
studies have shown an association between chronic periodontitis with increased
levels of CRP. Increased CRP was alone increases the risk of CHD. This study
looks at a sample of periodontitis patients showed a high risk of CHD. Allegations
have linked the effects of periodontal pathogens directly or indirectly lead to
infection, this mechanism activates inflammatory factors that CRP as a marker of
acute-phase response to infection will also increase."

"ABSTRAK
Mayoritas penelitian menemukan hubungan periodontitis dengan stres, namun
hubungannya dengan hormon kortisol pada cairan krevikular gingiva belum
diteliti. Tujuan: Mengevaluasi pengaruh stres pada mahasiswa program
akademik FKGUI terhadap kondisi periodontal dan kadar kortisol dalam CKG.
Pemeriksaan Dental Environtmental Stress, indeks periodontal (OHIS, BOP,
PPD, CAL), dan kadar kortisol terhadap 39 subjek, ditemukan perbedaan OHIS
(p=0,023), BOP (p=0,000), PPD (p=0,004), dan CAL (p=0,004), namun tidak ada
perbedaan kadar kortisol (p=0,456) diantara tingkatan stres. Tidak ada perbedaan
kadar kortisol pada OHIS (p=0,587), BOP (p=0,470), PPD (p=0,863), dan CAL
(p=0,863). Tidak ada perbedaan bermakna antara stres akademik dan kadar
kortisol, dengan kondisi periodontal.

ABSTRACT
Majority of investigations associating chronic periodontitis with stress found
positive correlation, but no investigations correlating with cortisol in gingival
crevicular fluid. Purpose: To evaluate the relationship between stress experienced
by academic students FKGUI, periodontium, and cortisol. Survey using Dental
Environtmental Stress (DES), clinical examinations (OHIS, BOP, PPD, and
CAL), and cortisol level. 39 subjects show differences in OHIS (p=0.023), BOP
(p=0.000), PPD (p=0,004), and CAL (p=0,004) between stress level and no
differences in cortisol level (p=0,456). No differences in cortisol level between
OHIS (p=0,587), BOP (p=0,470), PPD (p=0,863), and CAL (p=0,863). No
significant differences between stress, cortisol level and periodontium."

"Latar Belakang: Periodontitis merupakan faktor risiko terjadinya Penyakit Jantung Koroner (PJK). Interleukin-1β merupakan sitokin pro-inflamasi utama yang dapat ditemukan pada kedua penyakit ini.
Tujuan: Menganalisis hubungan kadar interleukin-1β dalam cairan sulkus gingiva (CSG) penderita PJK dan non PJK dengan status periodontal.
Metode: Pemeriksaan klinis 40 subjek PJK dan 40 subjek non PJK, pemeriksaan laboratorium kadar Interleukin-1β dengan ELISA.
Hasil : Tidak terdapat perbedaan bermakna Interleukin-1β antara penderita PJK dan non PJK (p>0,05); tidak terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara kadar Interleukin-1β dengan status periodontal penderita PJK dan non- PJK (p>0,05).
Kesimpulan: Kadar Interleukin-1β penderita PJK tidak memiliki hubungan dengan status periodontal.

Background: Periodontitis is a risk factor for coronary heart disease. Interleukin-1β as a pro-inflammatory main cytokine, can be found in this both diseases.
Objective: To analyze the relationship of interleukin-1β levels in CSG CHD and non-CHD patients with periodontal status.
Methods: Clinical Examination for 40 Subject CHD and 40 controls was checked, laboratory test for measured the levels of Interleukin-1β with ELISA.
Results: There were no significant differences between patients Interleukin-1β CHD and non-CHD (p>0.05); there is no significant difference between the levels of Interleukin-1β with periodontal status CHD and control patients (p>0.05).
Conclusions: Levels of Interleukin-1β of CHD patients do not have a relationships with periodontal status.

"Latar Belakang: Penyakit jantung koroner (PJK) adalah suatu kelainan penyempitan pembuluh darah arteri jantung yang berhubungan dengan akumulasi lokal dari lipid, dalam bentuk kolesterol dan trigliserid. Penyakit periodontal merupakan inflamasi kronis yang berperan dalam perkembangan PJK. Pada periodontitis dilaporkan terjadi perubahan profil lipid berupa peningkatan kadar kolesterol dan LDL dalam darah.
Tujuan: Menganalisis hubungan kadar kolesterol dalam darah dengan status periodontal pada penderita PJK dan non PJK.
Metode: 60 penderita PJK dan 40 kontrol diperiksa status periodontal dan diambil sampel darah untuk pemeriksaan kadar kolesterol.
Hasil: Kadar kolesterol darah penderita PJK berbeda dengan non PJK. Terdapat hubungan antara kadar kolesterol darah dengan status periodontal pada penderita PJK dan non PJK.
Kesimpulan: Kadar kolesterol darah pada non PJK lebih tinggi daripada penderita PJK. Kadar kolesterol darah penderita PJK berhubungan dengan kedalaman poket dan kehilangan perlekatan. Kadar kolesterol darah non PJK berhubungan dengan kedalaman poket.

Background: Coronary heart disease (CHD) is an abnormal narrowing of heart arteries associated with local accumulation of lipids, in the form of cholesterol. Periodontal disease is a chronic inflammatory that sugested link to the development of CHD. In periodontitis have been reported changes in lipid profile, include increased of cholesterol and LDL levels of blood.
Objective: to analyse correlation between blood cholesterol level with periodontal status of CHD patients and control group.
Methods: Periodontal status of 6 CHD patient and 40 control group was measured. Measurement of blood cholesterol level on both group.
Result: Blood cholesterol level in CHD patients differ from control group. Blood cholesterol level associated with periodontal status.
Conclusion: Blood cholesterol level in control group higher than CHD patients. Blood cholesterol level positively associated with pocket depth and clinical attachment loss in CHD patients. Blood cholesterol level positively associated with pocket depth in control group.
