This study evaluated the use of external peripheral to form inclines to improve posture and minimize muscle activity of using notebook computer. These days users often use notebook computer in public places or external environments where no adjustable workstation is provided. Furthermore, the design of laptop where the display is connected with the input device causes poorer posture to the user because the design of laptop which are portable, lightweight, and space saving. Electromyography (EMG) was used to investigate muscle activities when using notebook with different inclines. Head-neck posture was measured traditionally with craniocervical angle to assess the improved posture formed through applying different inclines in notebook usage. The subjective valuation by the computer users were also evaluated followed by calculating the efficiency of the typing task in each incline. Based on the EMG result, the 12° induced the less overall muscle activity of the muscles examined. This result was also supported by the respondents’ subjective valuation of the inclines. Even though bigger incline offered more improved head-neck posture, it didn’t correspond with the muscle activity result as well as the subjective valuation. Therefore, this study suggested the utilization of 12° when using laptop to improve posture and reduce the risk of any musculoskeletal disorder.

"ABSTRAK
Frequent upper respiratory tract infections and allergic reactions may cause upper respiratory tract obstruction (OURT). Mouth breathing (MB) occurs in individuals with nasal breathing problems. A person with MB will raise his head higher; thus, MB is a risk factor for head posture (HP) deviation. Children with MB during growth and development may exhibit dentocraniofacial (DCF) deviation. Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of MB, HP, and DCF deviation in OURT patients to know risk factors of HP deviation, morphological aberrations of DCF and DCF deviation growth and development. Methods: This cross sectional study included 285 OURT subjects aged 9 until 15 years. Data obtained from cephalometric analysis, physical examination, and questionnaires were analyzed. Results: Of 285 OURT subjects, 80.4% showed MB, 44.2% HP deviation, and 66.7% DCF deviation. As risk factors for DCF deviation, MB and HP showed odds ratios of 20.45 and 8.11 and population attributable risks of 87.5% and 59.7%, respectively. Conclusion: The prevalence of MB and DCF deviation in OURT patients is high, but that of HP deviation is generally comparable. MB and deviated HP are risk factors for DCF deviation growth and development. "

Background: According to several studies, disturbances in the craniofacial growth and development period that cause impaired muscle function can be related to or caused by habitual head posture positions. The prevalence of head posture deviation in children aged 6-15 years is 52.5% and in children aged 12-16 years is 63%. The existence of muscle imbalance due to impaired muscle function is considered as a factor causing abnormal dental and skeletal positions. This can have a negative impact on the skeletal system in terms of changes in facial morphology.
Objective:Analyzing the relationship between craniovertebral angle of the head posture and G-Sn-Pg angle of the facial profile in children aged 10-12 years by photometry to prevent facial development problems.
Methods: This research was conducted at the IKGA RSKGM FKG UI clinic with a total of 33 research subjects that matched with the inclusion criteria. Measurement of head posture and facial profile using lateral photometry and the imageJ application. Head posture: craniovertebral angle (tragus-C7-horizontal line), and facial profile: angles G,Sn and Pg. The relationship between craniovertebral angle and G-Sn-Pg angle was analyzed using Pearson test.
Results: There is a statistically significant relationship between craniovertebral angle of the head posture and G-Sn-Pg angle of the facial profile (p < 0.05) with a weak relationship strength (r = 0.373).
Conclusion: There is a relationship between craniovertebral angle of the head posture and G-Sn-Pg angle of the facial profile. The smaller craniovertebral angle, the smaller G-Sn-Pg angle, which means that forward head posture is associated with a convex facial profile.
