Relaxation is one of many mechanisms for coping with stress. One of the most widely used methods for relaxation is aromatherapy with the application of essential oils. Known for their therapeutic benefits, essential oils can be extracted from various Indonesian native herbs such as lemongrass (sereh wangi or Cymbopogon winterianus), cananga or ylang- ylang (kenanga or Canarium odoratum), and patchouli (nilam or Pogostemon cabin). This study aims to examine the effectiveness of a mixture of Indonesian essential oil made of lemongrass, cananga, and patchouli extracts. Experiment was conducted by asking a number of subjects to inhale the oil mixture and assessing its effectiveness in terms of psychological relaxation by using visual analog scale or VAS) and of physical relaxation by examining the subjects? blood pressure or mean arterial pressure (MAP), pulse frequency, and breathing frequency. The result was then compared with that of lavender oil and with the control group. The study was conducted on 60 healthy women through single-blind clinical trials (before and after) using the ?intent to treat? approach, followed by a startle test. Participants were divided into three groups: (1) 20 participants who were treated with Indonesian essential oil mixture, (2) 20 participants who were treated with lavender oil, and (3) 20 participants who served as the control group. Psychological relaxation measurement showed that Indonesian essential oil mixture produced the same degree of effectiveness as lavender oil and the control groups did, although both treatments tended to produce better results than the control group did. However, physical relaxation measurement showed that Indonesian essential oil mixture produced a higher degree of effectiveness than lavender oil and tended to produce a better result than the control group did, especially in terms of blood pressure based on MAP scores."

ABSTRACT
In order to know the Infectivity of saliva of hepatitis B virus (HBV) carriers, detection of HBsAg and HBeAg was carried out by serologic test using ELISA method in saliva of 97 VHB carriers who were 73,2% men, in ten-month period (August 1994 - May 1995).
Of 97 HBV carriers positive for both HBsAg and HBeAg in serum were found in 56 (Group I) and positive HBsAg and negative HBeAg In the other 41 (Group II). Examination of saliva of HBV carriers in group I showed positive HBsAg as well as HBeAg In 48 (85,7%), only positive for HBsAg in 6 (10,7%) and negative for both HBsAg and HBeAg in other 2 (3,6%) where as In group II positive for both HBsAg and HBeAg were not detected (0%), positive for HBsAg only in 31 (75,6%) and negative for both HBsAg and HBeAg In the remaining 10 (24,4%).
In conclusion, the majority of highly infectious hepatitis B carriers do also have infectious saliva which could be an Important source of Infection and transmission of the virus in the field of Dentistry.
The benefit of this study is giving information to Dentists about the possibility of the transmission of hepatitis B virus via the treatment of Dentistry, therefore the prevention of the transmission must be optimally taken."

"Joint sound is one of the signs of the temporomandibular joint disorder dan its characteristics are tought to be able to establish the gravity of the disorder. The aim of this study was to analyze the relation between the sound characteristics - its pitch and intensity - and the gravity of the temporomandibular joint disorder. The subjects of this research were 54 students who fulfilled the criteria included in the basic questionnaire which was distributed among all the 4th and 6th semester dental students of Faculty of Dentistry University of Indonesia. The gravity of the disorder was obtained from the subjective as well as the objective examination, using Helkimo index. 108 joint sound samples of the left and right joint were recorded during opening and closing movement of the mandible, using a modified stethoscope which was connected to a personal computer. The analysis of the joint sound characteristics was done with audio analysis software Cool Edit 2000. A one wat anova test showed a significant relation between the gravity of temporomandibular joint disorder and the intensity of the joint sound (p<0.05). The gravity of the disorder was equivalent to the intensity of the sound, however there was no significant relation between the joint sound pitch and the gravity of the temporomandibular joint disorder. It was concluded that the joint sound intensity was worthy of further study as a sign of diagnostic value."
