"Manggis Hutan ( Garcinia rigida Miq ) termasuk ke dalam familia Guttiferae, dan banyak tersebar di wilayah Asia Tenggara. Hampir sebagian besar dari genus Garcinia telah diteliti dan memiliki khasiat sebagai tanaman obat. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kandungan kimia dan aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak kulit batang manggis hutan. Pemisahan dan pemurnian ekstrak menggunakan kromatografi kolom cepat dan kromatografi lapis tipis. Isolat ditentukan struktur molekulnya secara Spektrometri Resonansi Magnetik Inti CH-NMR dan 13C-NMR) dan Spektrometri Massa, serta diuji aktivitas antioksidannya menggunakan 1,1-Diphenyl-2- picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). Pada kromatografi kolom cepat digunakan silika gel 60 F254 sebagai fase diam dan pelarut n-heksana, etil asetat serta metanol sebagai fase gerak dengan tingkat kepolaran yang bertingkat. Setelah rekristalisasi, diperoleh dua isolat, senyawa A dari ekstrak n-heksana ( Rf 0,27 ) dan senyawa 8 dari fraksi 11 ekstrak aseton ( Rf 0,69 ). Hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan menunjukkan bahwa kedua senyawa kurang aktif dengan nilai ICsa masing-masing sebesar 723,43 ~ g/ml untuk senyawa A dan 229,73 ~g/ml untuk senyawa 8. Hasil identifikasi dan karakterisasi isolat menunjukkan bahwa senyawa A adalah campuran dari a-amirin dan f3-amirin, sementara senyawa 8 adalah campuran dari stigmasterol dan f3-sitosterol.

Manggis Hutan (Garcinia rigida Miq), belongs to Guttiferae, is a widespread plant in Southeast Asia. Almost all of the researched Garcinia genus are known as medical plants. The research was done to find out the chemical constituents and antioxidant activity of manggis hutan's bark extract. Extract separation and purification was using fast column chromatography and thin layer chromatography. The determination of molecule structure from isolate was using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometry CH-NMR dan 13C-NMR) and Mass Spectrometry, then tested its antioxidant activity using 1,1-Dipheny/-2-picry/hydrazy/ (DPPH) radical scavenging activity method. Fast column chromatography was using silica gel 60 F254 as steady phase and mixture of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol in different grades of polarity as mobile phase. After further purification, two constituents were isolated, isolate A was from hexane extract ( Rf value 0,27) and isolate B was from the 11th acetone extract's fraction ( Rf value 0,69 ). The result of antioxidant test showed that these isolates were less active with each value of ICso was 723,43 J..I g/ml and 229,73 J..I g/ml. Isolate identification and characterization showed that the compound of isolate A was a mixture of aamyrin and J3-amyrin, and isolate B was a mixture of stigmasterol and B-sitosterol."

"Garcinia celebica L merupakan suku Guttiferae. Berdasarkan penelitian terdahulu diketahui jenis tanaman garcinia lainnya memiliki anktivitas antioksidan, namun informasi dan penelitian mengenai tanaman Garcinia celebica L masih terbatas. Oleh karena itu dilakukan penelitian ini untuk menentukan aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak dan fraksi kulit buah Garcinia celebica L serta identifikasi golongan senyawa kimia dari fraksi yang teraktif. Metode yang digunakan untuk uji aktivitas adalah metode DPPH. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan cara maserasi bertingkat menggunakan pelarut dengan kepolaran meningkat yaitu n-hekasn, etil asetat dan metanol. Hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak n-heksan, etil asetat, dan methanol memiliki aktivitas sebagai antioksidan, dengan nilai IC50 berturut-turut yaitu 95,83; 53,06; dan 12,16 ppm. Fraksinasi dilakukan terhadap ekstrak metanol yang memiliki aktivitas tertinggi dengan eluen etil asetat dan metanol dan dengan menggunakan kromatografi kolom vakum dan diperoleh lima fraksi gabungan berdasarkan hasil KLT yaitu A,B,C,D dan E. Fraksi C merupakan fraksi teraktif dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 17,66 ppm. Hasil identifikasi kimia fraksi C menunjukkan adanya senyawa terpenoid, alkaloid, tanin, falvonoid dan antrakuinon.

Garcinia celebica L is Guttiferae family. The previous study showed that the other garcinia plants have antioxidant activity, however there was a few information and investigation about Garcinia celebica L. Therefore, this study presents antioxidant activity from extract and fraction of Garcinia celebica L skin fruits and identify chemical compounds from the most active fraction. Antioxidant activity was determined by DPPH radical scavenging activity. Extraction was made by maseration using different solvent with increasing polarity, n-Hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol. The result of antioxidant activity test showed that extract of n-heksan, etil asetat and methanol have activity as antioxidant with score IC50 consecutive 95,83; 53,06; and 12,16 ppm. The most active methanol extract was fractionation with ethyl acetate and methanol eluents and using vacuum colom chromatography and obtained five fractions combined based on TLC results of the A, B, C, D, dan E. The C fraction was the most active fraction with IC50 value ​​of 17,66 ppm. Phytochemical identification shows C fraction containing terpenoids, alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, and saponins."
