"Latar Belakang: Keausan gigi adalah kehilangan struktur gigi yang terjadi bukan karena proses karies. Salah satu tipe keausan gigi yaitu atrisi. Atrisi terjadi akibat adanya kontak gigi ke gigi (oklusi) seperti saat mastikasi. Terdapat tiga tipe oklusi saat gerakan lateral mandibula yaitu oklusi seimbang, group function, dan cuspid protected.
Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan antara oklusi seimbang, group function, dan cuspid protected dengan keausan gigi dan mengetahui tipe oklusi yang banyak menyebabkan keausan gigi.
Metode: Penelitian analitik observasional dengan rancangan cross sectional. Subjek penelitian adalah 78 mahasiswa program akademik FKG UI angkatan 2005-2008 yang berusia 17-23 tahun yang diambil secara purposive sampling. Analisis statistik secara univariat berupa distribusi masing-masing variabel dan secara bivariat berupa uji Fisher.
Hasil: Uji Fisher menunjukkan tidak terdapat hubungan antara oklusi seimbang, group function, dan cuspid protected dengan keausan gigi (p > 0,05). Statistik deskriptif belum dapat membuktikan tipe oklusi yang banyak menyebabkan keausan gigi.
Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat hubungan antara oklusi seimbang, group function, dan cuspid protected dengan keausan gigi pada mahasiswa program akademik Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Indonesia angkatan 2005-2008. Dan tidak dapat membuktikan bahwa oklusi seimbang banyak menyebabkan keausan gigi.

Background: Tooth wear is the non-carious loss of tooth structure. One of the type of the tooth wear is attrition. The attrition results from tooth to tooth contact (occlusion) such as during mastication. There are three types of occlusion during lateral movement of the mandible are balanced occlusion, group function, and cuspid rotected.
Objective: To identify the relationship between balanced occlusion, group function, and cuspid protected with the tooth wear and to identify the type of occlusion which is the most causing the tooth wear.
Method: This research is observational analysis using cross-sectional study. The subjects are 78 preclinical dental students from University of Indonesia Class 2005-2008, aged 17-23 years old which were taken by purposive sampling. Univariate statistical analysis is distribution of each variables and bivariate statistical analysis is using Fisher test.
Result: Fisher test showed that there was no relationship between balanced occlusion, group function, and cuspid protected with the tooth wear (p > 0,05). Descriptive statistic was not been able to prove the type of occlusion which is the most causing the tooth wear.
Conclusion: There was no relationship between balanced occlusion, group function, and cuspid protected with tooth wear on preclinical dental student from University of Indonesia Class 2005-2008. And, there is no evidence that balanced occlusion is the most causing the tooth wear."

"Latar Belakang: Pilot TNI AU terdiri dari korp tempur, helikopter dan transport merupakan salah satu profesi dengan tingkat stres yang tinggi. Pilot tempur mengalami g-force yang tinggi. Hal ini disebabkan perubahan lingkungan penerbangan meliputi perubahan tekanan udara, suplai oksigen, suhu dan percepatan yang dapat menyebabkan gangguan sendi temporomandibula atau Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) pada pilot. Penelitian mengenai hubungan stres dengan TMD, serta bruxism sebagai respon terhadap stres dan keausan gigi sebagai akibat bruxism terhadap TMD di pilot TNI AU belum pernah dilakukan di Indonesia.
Tujuan: Menganalisis hubungan antara stres, bruxism dan keausan gigi terhadap TMD pada pilot transport dan tempur TNI AU.
Metode: Penelitian menggunakan desain cross-sectional pada 50 pilot tempur dan 50 pilot transport TNI AU. Setiap subjek dilakukan pemeriksaan klinis menggunakan formulir Axis I DC/TMD untuk menentukan diagnosa TMD dan menggunakan kriteria identik untuk mengukur keausan gigi. Setelah itu setiap subjek mengisi kuesioner bruxism dari American Academy of Sleep Medicine dan kuesioner stres emosional dari indeks etiologi TMD.
Hasil Penelitian: Uji mann-whitney menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara stres dengan TMD pada pilot transport (p = 0.018) dan pilot tempur (p = 0.010). Uji mann-whitney menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara bruxism dengan TMD pada pilot transport (p = 0.000) dan pilot tempur (p = 0.000). Uji mann-whitney menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara keausan gigi dengan TMD pada pilot transport (p = 0.000) dan pilot tempur (p = 0.000).
Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan antara stres dengan TMD pada pilot TNI AU baik pilot transpor maupun pilot tempur.

Background: Indonesian Air Force pilots consists of fighter and transport corp are one of the professions with high levels of stress. Fighter pilots experience high g-force. This is due to changes in the aviation environment including changes in barometric pressure, oxygen supply, temperature and acceleration which can cause Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) on pilot. The study analyzing the association between stress and TMD, as well as bruxism in response to stress and tooth wear as a result of bruxism against TMD in Indonesian Air Force pilots has never been conducted in Indonesia.
Objective: Analyzing the relationship between stress, bruxism and tooth wear with TMD in transport pilots and fighter pilots of Indonesian Air Force.
Method: This cross sectional study assessed the data of 50 transport pilots and 50 fighter pilots of Indonesian Air Force. Subject performed a clinical examination using the Axis I DC/TMD form to determine the diagnosis of TMD and used identical criteria to measure tooth wear. After that each subject fills the bruxism questionnaire from American Academy of Sleep Medicine and emotional stress questionnaire from the TMD etiology index.
Result: Mann-whitney test showed significant differences between stress and TMD in transport pilot (p = 0.018) and fighter pilot (p = 0.010). Mann-whitney test showed significant differences between bruxism with TMD in transport pilot (p = 0.000) and fighter pilot (p = 0.000). Mann-whitney test showed significant differences between tooth wear and TMD in transport pilot (p = 0.000) and fighter pilot (p = 0.000).
Conclusion: Stress was associated with TMD in Indonesian Air Force Pilot both transport pilot and fighter pilot."

"Keausan atrisi adalah hilangnya substansi permukaan gigi secara bertahap akibat gesekan gigi atas dan bawah terutama karena pengunyahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara keausan gigi dengan jenis makanan yang dikonsumsi oleh individu-individu di Situs Gua Braholo, Situs Song Keplek, dan Situs Song Terus. Data yang digunakan adalah keausan pada permukaan gigi yang dicatat berdasarkan derajat keausan, bentuk permukaan oklusal gigi, dan arah keausan gigi. Dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan, sebagian besar keausan dari temuan gigi di Situs Gua Braholo, Situs Song Keplek dan Situs Song Terus sudah tidak memiliki tonjol mahkota gigi dan derajat keausan gigi mengenai dentin. Bentuk permukaan gigi umumnya datar dan arah keausan horizontal. Berdasarkan keausannya, manusia prasejarah di Gua Braholo, Song Keplek dan Song Terus adalah masyarakat berburu yang juga memanfaatkan biota laut, dan mengupul biji-bijian yang sebagai sumber makanan pada masa itu.

Attrition is the loss of substance of the tooth surface is gradually due to friction of the upper teeth and lower because of mastication. This study aims to determine the relationship between tooth wear from human at Braholo Cave Site, Song Keplek Site, and Song Terus Site with their diet. The occlusal surface was recorded based on the degree of wear, the shape of occlusal tooth wear, and inclination of tooth wear. The majority of dental findings in Braholo Cave Site, Song Keplek Site and Song Terus Site did not have cusps of the crowns and the degrees of tooth wear reached dentine layer. The form of tooth surfaces were generally flat and the direction of tooth wear were horizontal. Based on the tooth wear, prehistoric people in Braholo Cave Site, Song Keplek Site, and Song Terus Site who were hunting and marine biota exploitation, as well as nut collecting, as the types of subsistence at the period."
