"ABSTRAKKekerasan terhadap anak kini semakin gencar diberitakan. Pemberitaan tersebut dikemas semenarik mungkin hingga dapat menarik perhatian khalayak, namun sayangnya tak jarang pemberitaan ini tidak mengikuti kode etik yang berlaku dan hanya mementingkan kepentingan pemilik berita tanpa memikirkan dampak pemberitaan tersebut pada khalayak. Berita kekerasan mementingkan unsur drama dan keakuratan berita yang tanpa sadar menayangkan reka adegan kejahatan secara detail dan memberitahukan identitas korban maupun pelaku. Hal tersebut yang kemudian membuat anak baik sebagai korban kekerasan maupun khalayak yang menonton berita, dan orang dewasa yang menonton berita mendapatkan efek negatif dari pemberitaan tersebut. Efek media pada khalayak pada penelitian ini dijelaskan menggunakan teori kultivasi, dimana teori ini menjelaskan bahwa televisi memiliki kekuatan untuk mempengaruhi masyarakat. Khalayak yang menonton televisi terlalu lama akan merasa bahwa realita yang ada sesuai dengan apa yang ditayangkan di televisi. Dampaknya adalah khalayak mengalami ketakutan untuk menghadapi dunia nyata karena tidak ingin menjadi korban pelecehan dan kekerasan seperti halnya yang terjadi di televisi.

ABSTRACT

Violence againts children become more and more highlighted in the news. Those news produced in a way that can interest the viewer, but unfortunately some doesn?t follow ethical code of conduct and only concerned in the interest of media owner without reflecting the impact of those news to the viewer. In producing news about violence againts children, media only care about element of drama and accuracy in the news without regards to secrecy of identity of the victim and the offender. It makes the victim and the viewer caught on negative impact of those news. Impact of media to the viewer on this study explained using cultivation theory. This theory described that television has a power to influence people. People who watch television for too long will eventualy feel that reality and what was featured in television is same. Impact of that power is people would feel afraid to face the world because he/she doesn?t want to become a victim of harrasment and violence like what he/she saw in television."
