Penelitian tesis ini bertujuan untuk memahami ancaman terorisme terhadap eksistensi kekuasaan, ancaman Al-Qaeda dan eksistensi Monarki Arab Saudi. Di mana peneliti mengasumsikan adanya "siklus kekuasaan" yang dikembangkan dari konsep pemikiran Max Weber, bahwa "jika-ancam terhadap kekuasaan meningkat, maka penggunaan kekerasan oleh negara menggunakan meningkat juga,."
