"Effect of tributylphosphite on antiwear and load carrying properties of mineral base oil containing sulfurized isobutylene has been studied by using a thermodynamically approach and surface analysis data from lubricated surfaces. From this research it is concluded that increasing the concentration of tributylphosphite improves the antiwear properties of mineral base oil with and without sulfurized isobutylene. Increasing concentration of tributylphosphite improves the load carrying properties of base oil, but have no effect on load carrying properties of base oil containing high-sulfurized isobutylene. In the presence of sulfurized isobutylene, in the mild condition tributylphosphite can inhibit adsorption of sulfurized isobutylene. The good combination between these two additives was given by addition about 700 ppm P (from tributylphosphite) to the base oil containing 2000 - 6500 ppm S (from sulfurized isobutylene)."

"Hambatan pada Self Propelled Barge SPB identik dengan karakteristik lambung yang datar dan luas permukaan basah yang besar. Dengan menggunakan metode air lubrication yang berjenis Microbubble Drag Reduction MBDR dan Air Layer Drag Reduction ALDR diharapkan dapat mengurangi nilai hambatan total pada kapal. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui jenis air lubrication terbaik dalam mengurangi hambatan kapal. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu dengan melakukan uji tarik kapal model di kolam uji tarik. Pengujian menggunakan loadcell untuk mendapatkan hambatan total kapal. Hasil dari pengujian menunjukkan kapal model dengan air layer drag reduction mempunyai nilai drag reduction tertinggi yang mencapai 90 . Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan air layer drag reduction lebih efektif pada kapal Self Propelled Barge.

The resistance of a Self Propelled Barge SPB identically to flat hull and large wetted hull surface. Using the type of air lubrication method, Microbubble Drag Reduction MBDR and Air Layer Drag Reduction ALDR are expected to reduce ship total resistance. This research aims to know the best type of air lubrication to decrease ship resistance. The experiment method is ship model towing test in public swimming pool. The test uses loadcell to get total ship resistance. The result from the test showing that the ship model using air layer drag reduction has the highest result by reaching 90 drag reduction. This shows that the use of air layer drag reduction is more effective on Self Propelled Barge."

"Sebuah peranti baru untuk air lubrication yang disebut Winged Air Induction Pipe WAIP telah dipelajari pada penelitian kali ini. Peranti tersebut, yang memiliki hydrofoil dengan suatu sudut tertentu, menggunakan daerah bertekanan rendah yang dihasilkan pada bagian atas dari hydrofoil saat kapal bergerak terhadap fluida cair disekitarnya. Tekanan rendah yang dihasilkan mendorong udara atmosferis ke dalam air pada kecepatan tertentu dimana tekanan yang dihasilkan adalah negatif dibandingkan dari tekanan atmosferis. Pendekatan computational fluid dynamics dilakukan untuk mempelajari pengaruh dari clearance dari hydrofoil pada Winged Air Induction Pipe dalam pengurangan tahanan yang dialami oleh pelat dimana peranti WAIP dipasangkan. Model multifase volume of fluid dan model turbulensi k-w SST shear stress transport digunakan di dalam simulasi numerik. Simulasi dilakukan dengan konfigurasi clearance dari hydrofoil terhadap botton plate model dan angle of attack yang berbeda. Pengaruh dari parameter tersebut terhadap pengurangan tahanan dijelaskan pada penelitian ini. Pengurangan tahanan diperoleh hingga 10 dibandingkan konfigurasi tanpa WAIP.

A new device for air lubrication called Winged Air Induction Pipe WAIP is studied in the present work. The device, which consists of angled hydrofoil uses the low pressure region produced above the hydrofoil as ship moves forward. The low pressure drives the atmospheric air into the water in certain velocities which the pressure is negative compare to atmospheric pressure. A computational fluid dynamics approach is presented to study the effect of hydrofoil clearance of Winged Air Induction Pipe in drag reduction experienced by the plate which WAIP attached. The well known 39 volume of fluid 39 model and k w SST shear stress transport turbulence closure model have been used in the numerical simulation. The numerical simulation is carried out with different configuration of hydrofoil clearance and angle of attack. Effects of these parameters on total drag force and drag reduction are reported. The reduction of drag force is found to increase to about 10 compared to bare plate configuration.
