"ABSTRAKLingga statues are found every where in Balinese villages. Its shape looks like a small pillar with special characters on its body, and known as a symbol of the god Siwa in Hindu religion. Lingga is still worshipped by the Hindus in Bali, although now the ceremonies are not real done by the people in some pura where the linggas are kept. As the result of the activity in data collecting on this prelimenary research there are found some variety on the 293 ancient linggas in Bali. This fact makes some problem to identify what kind of functions and religious ceremonies are related from the shape of the lingga. It is considered that there are some religious sect worshipped the lingga in its form in Bali, especially in ancient time and may be there are also some meaning according to its shapes and variaties.
