"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mengidentifikasi bagaimana peran pustakawan dalam Pengembangan koleksi di Perpustakaan Fasilkom UI, serta mengidentifikasi kendala dalam dalam pelaksanannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah Pustakawan Perpustakaan Fasilkom UI. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pustakawan selain melakukan kegiatan pengembangan koleksi sesuai dengan prosedur, mereka juga proaktif dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan dan menunjukan ciri pustakawan yakni mendidik, memimpin, mengevaluasi dan mengorganisasi. Kendala yang dihadapi pustakawan diantaranya lamanya pengiriman bahan perpustakaan beserta human error.

This study aims to determine and identify the role of librarians in the procurement of University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Computer Science Library, as well as to identify the obstacles in its implementation. This study used a qualitative approach with case study method. Informants in this study are the librarians of The University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Computer Science Library.

The results of this study indicate that the librarians, in addition to conducting procurement activities in accordance with established procedures, they are also became proactive in the implementation of the collection procurement activities and shows the librarian characteristics such as educating, leading, evaluating, and coordinating functions. The problems that are faced by the librarians are the duration of delivery of library materials and human error."

"Peningkatan aksesibilitas koleksi perpustakaan, khususnya koleksi skripsi, tesis, dan disertasi perlu dilakukan, mengingat jumlah koleksi yang tinggi, namun sistem pengelolaan saat ini masih didasarkan pada kedatangan koleksi di Perpustakaan Universitas Indonesia. Untuk mengelola koleksi tersebut dibutuhkan kategori-kategori yang dapat mewakili skripsi, tesis, dan disertasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menentukan kategori-kategori tersebut melalui pengolahan data abstrak setiap skripsi, tesis, dan disertasi pada tahun 2005-2015 dengan salah satu algoritma clustering, yaitu Self-Organizing Map. Melalui penelitian ini ditemukan 139 kategori yang dapat mewakili skripsi, tesis, dan disertasi, yang akan digunakan untuk mengelompokkan skripsi, tesis, dan disertasi Universitas Indonesia.

Accessibility improvement of library collection, in particular undergraduate thesis, post-graduate thesis, and dissertation needs to be done, given the high number of collection, but the current management system is still based on the arrival of collection in Universitas Indonesia?s Library. "Perpustakaan Unika Atma Jaya sebagai pusat belajar dituntut mampu memenuhi kebutuhan penggunanya. Dalam rangka memenuhi tuntutan tersebut, evaluasi koleksi diperlukan untuk melihat sejauh mana mampu memenuhi kebutuhan penggunanya terutama dalam penyusunan tesis. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis sitasi dilakukan pada tesis di 9 Program Magister dalam lingkungan Unika Atma Jaya kurun waktu 2016-2018. Dalam penelitian ditemukan bahwa pemanfaatan buku dan jurnal oleh mahasiswa Program. Magister berimbang hanya terpaut kecil sekali (0,22%) padahal idealnya dalam tesis magister pemanfaatan jurnal lebih tinggi daripada buku mengingat informasi yang termuat didalamnya lebih mutakhir. Meskipun ketersediaan jurnal di Perpustakaan Unika Atma Jaya untuk penyusunan tesis mahasiswa Program Magister cukup tinggi (78.35% ) namun keadaan tersebut masih kurang ideal dalam penggunaan jurnal. Dalam penelitian ini diajukan saran kepada perpustakaan menambah langganan jurnal yang sesuai dengan cakupan bidang studi yang ada sebagai prioritas pertama.

The Atma Jaya Catholic University Library as a learning center is demanded to be able to meet the needs of its users. In order to meet these demands, a collection evaluation is needed to see how far it is able to meet the needs of its users, especially in the preparation of theses. The method used is citation analysis on theses in 9 Masters Programs within Atma Jaya Catholic University within the 2016-2018 period. In the study it was found that the use of books and journals by students of the Masters Program was balanced with only a very small difference (0.22%) whereas ideally in a master's thesis the use of journals is higher than books considering the information contained in them is more up-to-date. Even though the availability of journals at the Atma Jaya Catholic University Library for the preparation of Masters Program student theses is quite high (78.35%), this situation is still not ideal in the use of journals. In this study, suggestions were made to the library to add journal subscriptions that are in accordance with the existing scope of study as the first priority."

"ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) mempelajari cara mengorganisasikan dan mengubah cakupan informasi buku rujukan menjadi pengetahuan terbaca mesin, (2) membangun DISIKO, suatu sistem berbasis pengetahuan sebagai instrumen penelitian pengembangan alat bantu penelusuran informasi, dan (3) mengevaluasi kinerja prototip sistem itu untuk mengetahui manfaatnya dalam mengeliminasi kesenjangan, dan meningkatkan, kemampuan pemakai sistem dalam memilih buku rujukan yang memuat jawaban dari pertanyaan umum tentang topik khusus. Untuk itu, dalam penelitiau ini dibangun suatu basis pengetahuan berdasarkan aturan-aturan. Aturan-aturan itu dibangun dari butir-butir informasi yang diambil dari 52 judul buku rujukan deugan menggunakan paradigma klasifikasi dan prinsip himpunan bagian (subset) dari teori himpunan. Basis pengetahuan direpresentasikan dalam beutuk production rules dan dioperasikan dengan expert system shell bernama Crystal. DISIKO digunakan sebagai instrumen dalam salah satu penelitian eksperimental sungguhan, yaitu Posttest-Only Control Design. Variabel-variabel yang diteliti adalah perlakuan dengan DISIKO sebagai variabel bebas dan alat responden dalam memiliki buku rujukan sebagai variabel tak bebas. Responden adalah 36 orang mahasiswa Angkatan 1993/1994 Program Diploma Perpustakaan Fakultas Sastra Universitas Indonesia. Responden dibagi menjadi dua kelompok: (1) kelompok atas, terdiri atas mahasiswa yang merpunyai nilai di atas rata-rata kelas dalam praktik mata kuliah Bahan Rujukan Umum dan (2) kelompok bawah, terdiri atas mahasiswa yang mempunyai nilai di bawah rata-rata kelas dalam praktik mata kuliah yang sama. Kedua kelompok dibagi lagi menjadi dua subkelompok, yaitu: kelompok eksperimen yang diuji dengan menggunakan DISIKO dan kelompok kontrol yang diuji tanpa DISIK0. Responder. diminta untuk memilih buku rujukan yang sesuai untttk menjawab 19 buah pertanyaan umum teutang topik khusus. Dengan Uji Jumlah Peringkat Wilcoxon pada taraf signifikansi 0,05, hasil penelitian ini secara statistik memperlihatkan bawwa, dalam kelompok kontrol terdapat perbedaan nilai antara kelompok atas dan kelompok bawah, dalam kelompok eksperimen tidak terdapat perbedaan antara kelompok atas dan kelompok bawah, dan nilai kelompok eksperimen lebih dari nilai kelompok control. Hasil ini mencerminkan bawwa cakupan informasi buku rujukan dapat diorganisasikan dan diubah menjadi pengetahuan terbaca mesin serta DISIKO dapat mengeliminasi kesenjangan, dan meningkatkan, kemampuan pemakainya dalam memilih buku rujukan. Temuan penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar bagi pengembangan DISIKO menjadi sistem berskala penuh dan mengilhami pengembangan sistem berbasis pengetahuan lain untuk layanan rujukan khususnya serta perpustakaan umumnya

ABSTRACT

Disiko: the Prototype of Knowledge-based System for Choosing Reference Book(s) and Its Influence Toward the Scores in Choosing Reference Book(s) of 1993/1994 Students of Diploma Programme of Library Science, Faculty of Letters, University of Indonesia". Master Theses, University of Indonesia, 1994The purposes of this study are (1) to investigate if the items of information in reference books can be organized and converted into machine-readable knowledge, (2) to construct DISLKO, a prototype of knowledge-based system for choosing reference book(s), as an instrument of information retrieval development research, and (3) to evaluate the prototype performance weather it can or not eliminate a discrepancy of, and improve, its users' capabilities in choosing the appropriate reference book(s) which has or have an answer of general question about specific topics. To satisfy those purposes, this study was performed by setting up a knowledge base from rules. Such rules were composed of items of information taken from 52 titles of reference books, using classification paradigm and subset principle of set theory. The knowledge base was represented in the form of production rules and executed by an expert system shell, namely Crystal. DISIKO was then used as an instrument in a kind of design of true experimental studies, namely Posttest-Only Control Design. The variables studied were a treatment by DISIKQ as an independent variable and respondents' scores in choosing reference book(s) as a dependent variable. There were 36 students of 1993/1994 Diploma Programme of Library Science, Faculty of Letters, University of Indonesia chosen as respondents. Those respondents were divided into two groups: (1) upper group, a group of students who had mark above average in General Reference Material practical class and (2) lower group, a group of students who had mark below average in the same practical class. Afterwards, the two groups were then divided into two subgroups, namely experimental group who was tested using DISIKO and control group without DISIKO. Respondents were asked to choose reference book(s) which appropriate to answer 19 general questions about specific topics. By using Wilcoxon's Sum of Rank Test at 0.05 significance level, the results of this study statistically showed that (1) within the control group, the members of upper and lower group have different scores; (2) within the experimental group the members of upper and lower group have no different scores; and the members of the experimental group have higher scores than the members of the control group. Such results may be interpreted that the items of information in reference books can be organized and converted into machine-readable knowledge and DISJKO can eliminate a discrepancy, of; and improve, its users' capability in choosing reference book(s). These findings are expected to function as a basis to develop DISIKQ to be a total standardized knowledge-based system and inspiring the development of others knowledge-based systems for reference works specifically and library works generally."

"Pengembangan koleksi merupakan suatu proses yang harus dilakukan perpustakaan untuk menyesuaikan koleksi dengan kebutuhan pemustaka dan perkembangan informasi terbaru. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi proses pengembangan koleksi perpustakaan sekolah yang dilakukan oleh Perpustakaan SMA Kolese Gonzaga. Pertanyaan penelitiannya adalah bagaimana strategi Perpustakaan SMA Kolese Gonzaga dalam proses pengembangan koleksi agar tetap terbaru, relevan dengan kurikulum yang diterapkan, dan sesuai arah kebijakan pengembangan koleksi yang ada dan apa saja faktor pendukung dan penghambat dalam melakukan proses pengembangan koleksi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan studi kasus sebagai pendekatannya. Dalam hal pengambilan data, penelitian ini menggunakan teknik wawancara, observasi, dan analisis dokumen. Waktu pengambilan data dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret hingga April tahun 2023 dengan hasil penelitian yang menunjukkan bahwa Perpustakaan SMA Kolese Gonzaga selama ini melakukan pengembangan koleksinya yang mencakup analisis komunitas, kebijakan seleksi, seleksi, pengadaan, penyiangan, dan evaluasi. Pengembangan koleksi tersebut didasarkan pada Our Way of Proceeding yang merupakan buku pedoman sekolah yang berbasis visi misi dan kurikulum. Hal tersebut menjadikan pengembangan koleksi sesuai dengan kurikulum yang ada meskipun menimbulkan beberapa hambatan selama proses pelaksanaannya. Kesimpulannya adalah Perpustakaan SMA Kolese Gonzaga melakukan pengembangan koleksinya berdasarkan dokumen Our Way of Proceeding dengan strategi berdasarkan nilai kebersamaan dan multikulturalisme. Saran yang diajukan adalah perlu adanya kebijakan seleksi tertulis yang lebih rinci dan spesifik untuk meminimalisir hambatan selama pelaksanaan pengembangan koleksi.

Collection development is a process that must be carried out by the library to adapt the collection to the needs of users and the latest information developments. This research aims to explain the process of developing school library collections carried out by the Kolese Gonzaga High School Library. The formulation of the problem in this study is what the Kolese Gonzaga High School Library's strategy in the collection development process is kept up-to-date, relevant to the implemented curriculum, and in accordance with the existing collection development policy directions. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study as its approach. In terms of data collection, this study used interview, observation, and document analysis techniques. The time for data collection was carried out from March to April 2023 with research results showing that the Gonzaga Kolese High School Library has been carrying out collection development which includes community analysis, selection policies, selection, procurement, weeding, and evaluation. The collection development is based on Our Way of Proceeding which is a school manual based on vision, mission and curriculum. This makes collection development in accordance with the existing curriculum even though it creates several obstacles during the implementation process. The emerging strategy is value of togetherness and multiculturalism that forms the basis for all stages of collection development. The conclusion is that the Kolese Gonzaga High School Library develops its collection based on the Our Way of Proceeding document with strategy based on the values of togetherness and multiculturalism. The suggestion put forward is the need for a more detailed and specific written selection policy to minimize obstacles during the implementation of collection development."
