Schilling, John W.
"When John Schilling, an unassuming mid-level accountant, went to work for the Columbia Hospital Corporation, he never expected to become the catalyst for the series of 'whistleblower' cases that ripped through the healthcare industry in the late 1990s. But when he unwittingly discovered that the company was siphoning billions of dollars away from Medicare and stealing from American taxpayers, he was faced with a choice: speak up for what he believed to be right, or remain silent. "Whistleblower" tells the story of Schilling's incredible, harrowing journey from ordinary citizen to federal informant, as he bravely stands up for the truth, treading a dangerous path against corrupt executives, and putting himself in serious personal jeopardy. The book recounts how Schilling, unable to confide in friends or family, allied himself with the FBI and the Justice Department and journeyed into an undercover world in which he learned to wear a wire, and mapped out offices for secret government raids. Suspenseful and provocative, "Whistleblower" chronicles the series of steps that eventually led to the resignation of high-level executives and forced Columbia to return 1.7 billion dollars to the federal government. A compelling account of one man's decision to risk everything for the greater good, this book reveals the personal side of a thankless role that resulted, ultimately, in justice."

Human activities meeting their daily needs will impact the environment, including negative impacts such as the decline in the quality of the environment due to lead pollution. Lead is an element that is not essential for plants but can be absorbed and poison plants. Research has been conducted on the impact of lead on the metabolomics profile of red ginger (Zingiber officinale var Rubrum.). This study aimed to determine the effect of lead on the growth and metabolism of red ginger. The treatments were PbCl2 50, 100, and 150 ppm with a Completely Randomized Design with six replications. Metabolic profile analysis was performed using HPLC method. Statistic analysis using multivariate Principle Component Analysis (PCA) and Hierarchical Cluster Analysis (HCA). The research showed that the treatment of 100 and 150 ppm PbCl2 in the sample resulted significant differences in plant height growth and toxicity symptoms. These results show that ginger has a tolerance of PbCl2 at a concentration of 50 ppm. PCA and HCA result have separated control with 50 ppm treatment into one cluster, while 100 ppm treatment forms another cluster with 150 ppm treatment. PbCl2 treatment higher than 100 ppm showed a different metabolite profile compared to the control.

As one of the largest archipelagic countries in the world that is rich in biodiversity, Indonesia has various environmental conditions and biodiversity, either at the chemical composition and quantity contained in a living thing such as secondary metabolites. Hence, there is a need to perform a metabolomic analysis of a living thing that lived at different locations. Phyllidiella nigra is one of the Nudibranchia that is commonly found on Rambut Island and Pramuka Island, Kepulauan Seribu, DKI Jakarta. Phyllidiella nigra accumulates secondary metabolites from its prey and then used the compounds for several ecological roles such as antimicrobial, antifeedant, and antifouling. This study analyses and compares the secondary metabolites of Phyllidiella nigra from two different locations, namely Rambut Island and Pramuka Island. Samples were taken by free-roaming as many as ten. The secondary metabolites were extracted using 96% methanol, evaporated, and then detected using GC-MS. Data was then analyzed by PCA with scatter plot and HCA with dendrogram. Eight compounds could be analyzed, three of which were dominant on group formation, namely 1-propene-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid, tributyl ester; tributyl acetylcitrate; and phenol, 2,4-bis (1,1-dimethylethyl)-. There were no differences in the secondary metabolites between islands. Based on PCA and HCA, the samples on the two islands mixed and did not form groups according to their location, namely Rambut Island and Pramuka Island."
