ABSTRAK
Modal sosial akhir-akhir ini menjadi perhatian bagi ahli-ahli sosiologi ekonomi. Sebagian mengajukan konsep modal sosial sebagai alternatif baru bagi pendekatan pembangunan yang berbasis masyarakat. Namun sebagian lain melihat gejala kemunduran modal sosial sejalan dengan semakin meluasnya ekspansi kapitalisme.
Penelitian ini lebih melihat modal sosial sebagai kekuatan dinamis yang dimiliki oleh suatu komunitas. Kedinamisan modal sosial tersebut diwujudkan dalam bentuk pergeseran norma-norma pertukaran; sedemikian rupa sehingga individu-individu merasa terjamin untuk memperoleh keuntungan timbal balik.
