"ABSTRAK
Telah dilakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui efek perlakuan panas melalui
pemanasan fumace dan radiasi Nd:YAG Iaser terhadap perubahan mikrostruktur,
kekerasan mikro dan morfologi permukaan dentin manusia sebagai modifikasi
permukaan dentin. Dengan menggunakan sampel dentin dari gigi impaksi molar
3, perubahan energi panas yang berhubungan dengan transformasi fisik dan
khemis sebagai fungsi suhu menunjukkan kurva endotermik pada 111,62 °C
yang mengindikasikan kristalinitas yang Iebih rendah pada dentin dengan kristal
yang tidak homogen. Hasil DSC dentin menunjukkan kurva endotermik pada 40
°C - 284 "C, dan puncak eksotermik teriihat pada 500 °C. Total kehilangan berat
dentin dengan analisa TG adalah 21 ,26% setelah pemanasan 900 °C. Hasil XRD
pada suhu di atas 750 °C memperlihatkan puncak difraksi dari hidroksiapatit yang
meningkat dengan intensitas yang Iebih tinggi dengan munculnya puncak
Whitlockite. Perhitungan ukuran kristalit dentin yang bertambah besar
menunjukan adanya pertumbuhan kristalit akibat perlakuan panas sehingga
kristalinitas dentin berubah mendekati kristalinitas hidroksiapatit email. Nilai
kekerasan mikro Vickers jug meningkat akibat energi radiasi laser sesuai
dengan meningkatnya intensitas puncak difraksinya. Setelah radiasi Nd:YAG
laser terbentuk kawah dengan permukaan dentin yang meleleh dan mengalami
rekristalisasi. Jadi perilaku dentin manusia memperlihatkan perubahan fisik dan
khemis terhadap kenaikan suhu pemanasan dan energi radiasi laser yang tinggi.
Efek panas menyebabkan perubahan mikrostruktur dan sifat kekerasan yang
meningkat mendekati struktur dan kekerasan email.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of heat treatment
and Nd:YAG laser irradiation on the microstructure, microhardness and
morphological changes of human dentin surfaces for alternative dentin surface
modification. The results on the DSC of dentin show a large endothermic curve at
40°C to 284°C, likewise the DTA endothermic peak at 111,62 °C which
represent a material of less crystallinity and inhomogenous crystals. An
exothermic peak was also shown at 500ºC by DSC. The total loss of dentin
weight by TG analysis was 21.26% after heated to 900°C. XRD investigation
revealed that at higher temperature (above 750 °C) the amount of diffraction
peaks of hydroxyapatite were higher and more intense with the development of
Whitlockite. The crystallite size were also higher showing crystal growth upon
heat-treatment. After Nd:YAG laser-treated, dentin with relatively low
crystallinities obtains a structure which comes to resemble the crystalline
structure of enamel hydroxyapatite. VIckers micro-hardness property on lased
dentin surfaces showed increasing values of all laser exposures that were
associated with the increase intensity of peak diffraction. SEM observations on
Nd:YAG laser irradiation on dentin surface resulted in creater formation at higher
energy output, as well as surface melting, recrystallized and glazed surfaces. The
thermal behavior of human dentin shows physical and chemical changes with
higher temperature and higher energy output of Nd:YAG laser treatment.
Thermal effects caused microstructure and morphological changes on dentin
surfaces with increased microhardness surface properties which resemble the
microstructure and hardness of enamel."

"Latar belakang: Perawatan lesi karies dalam masih banyak dilakukan dengan pembuangan seluruh jaringan karies karena kekhawatiran proses karies berlanjut apabila jaringan karies ditinggalkan. Perawatan tersebut berisiko tinggi kematian pulpa. Dengan kemajuan ilmu teknologi kedokteran gigi, dapat dilakukan perawatan secara minimal invasif dengan meninggalkan jaringan karies.
Tujuan: Mengevaluasi perbandingan remineralisasi affected dentin dengan meninggalkan sebagian atau mengangkat seluruh infected dentin pada lesi karies dalam.
Metode: Dua kelompok, dengan meninggalkan atau mengangkat infected dentin. Pada kedua kelompok diaplikasikan BiodentineTM dan dievaluasi setelah 4 minggu.
Hasil: Kelompok I menunjukkan terjadi remineralisasi, tetapi belum tampak di radiograf. Kelompok II menunjukkan adanya remineralisasi. Perbandingan remineralisasi antara kedua kelompok tidak signifikan
Kesimpulan: Remineralisasi affected dentin dapat terjadi dengan meninggalkan infected dentin ataupun mengangkat seluruhnya.

Background: The treatment of deep carious lession still done with complete carious removal, risking the pulp to necrosis. With the upgrade in dental science and technology, nowadays dentist can provide minimal invasive carious removal by leaving partly carious lession.
Objective: To evaluate the remineralization in affected dentin by leaving partly infected dentin or remove all infected dentin.
Methods: Two groups, leaving partly or remove all infected dentin. Both group applied with BiodentineTM and evaluated after four weeks.
Result: First gruop showed remineralization, but radiographically insignificant. Second group showed remineralization. The comparation between two groups insignificant.
Conclusion: Affected dentin remineralization can happened, either leaving the infected dentin or remove all of them.

"Latar Belakang: Remineralisasi dentin dapat dicapai melalui beberapa metode, di
antaranya secara Guided Tissue Remineralization (GTR) dalam sistem Polymer-Induced Liquid Precursor (PILP). Remineralisasi secara GTR terbukti dapat meremineralisasi affected dentin dengan membentuk mineral intrafibrillar dan ekstrafibrillar. Melalui sistem PILP, kristal terbentuk dengan ukuran kecil sehingga remineralisasi lebih banyak terjadi secara intrafibrillar. Penambahan fluor dalam sistem PILP diharapkan dapat membentuk kristal fluoroapatit yang berukuran lebih besar dan mampu menyempurnakan remineralisasi hingga ke ekstrafibrillar. Penelitian yang ada selama ini hanya berfokus pada permukaan dentin, sedengkan belum terdapat penelitian untuk membuktikan remineralisasi dengan penambahan fluor yang terjadi pada dinding tubulus dentin. Tujuan: Mengetahui pengaruh penambahan fluor 5ppm dan 25ppm dalam sistem PILP terhadap perubahan topografi dinding tubulus dentin dan persentase fluoroapatit. Metode: Sampel blok dentin terdemineralisasi direndam pada larutan remineralisasi dengan penambahan 5ppm dan 25ppm fluor. Sampel blok dentin kemudian akan dipotong lintang menggunakan metode fraktur lalu diamati dan dianalisis menggunakan uji FE-SEM dan XRD. Hasil: Terjadi perubahan topografi pada dinding tubulus dentin setelah dilakukan remineralisasi melalui proses PILP
dengan penambahan 5ppm dan 25ppm fluor selama 14 hari yang dievaluasi secara deskriptif menggunakan FE-SEM. Hasil analisis XRD menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan bermakna secara statistik penambahan fluor pada larutan remineralisasi PILP terhadap persentase fasa mineral fluoroapatit, namun secara substansi terjadi
peningkatan persentase fluorapatit. Kesimpulan: Penambahan fluor dalam sistem PILP berpengaruh terhadap perubahan topografi dinding tubulus dentin dan persentase
fluoroapatit.

Background: Dentine remineralization can be achieved through several methods,
including Guided Tissue Remineralization (GTR) in the Polymer-Induced Liquid
Precursor (PILP) system. GTR remineralization has been shown to remineralize
affected dentin by forming intrafibrillar and extrafibrillar minerals. Through the PILP
system, crystals are formed with small sizes so that more remineralization occurs
intrafibrillarly. The addition of fluorine in the PILP system is expected to form larger
fluoroapatite crystals and be able to complete the remineralization to extrafibrillar. Existing research so far has only focused on the dentin surface, although there has been no research to prove remineralization with the addition of fluorine that occurs in the dentine tubule walls. Objective: To determine the effect of adding 5ppm and 25ppm fluorine in the PILP system on changes in the topography of the dentinal tubule walls and the percentage of fluoroapatite. Methods: Demineralized dentine block samples were immersed in remineralization solution with the addition of 5 ppm and 25 ppm fluorine. The dentine block samples will then be cross-sectioned using the fracture method and then observed and analyzed using the FE-SEM and XRD tests. Results: Topographical changes occurred in the dentinal tubule walls after remineralization through the PILP process with the addition of 5ppm and 25ppm fluorine for 14 days which were evaluated descriptively using FE-SEM. The results of the XRD analysis showed that there was no statistically significant difference in the addition of fluorine to the percentage of fluoroapatite mineral phase in the addition of fluorine to the percentage of fluoroapatite, but in substance there was an increase in the percentage of fluorapatite. Conclusion: The addition of fluorine in the PILP system affected the topography of the dentinal tubule walls and the percentage of fluoroapatite.

"Latar Belakang: Semen hidraulik C2SCS merupakan salah satu bahan bioaktif yang disintesis dari bahan alami, yaitu cangkang telur dan sekam padi. Tujuan: Mengetahui efek semen C2SCS dari cangkang telur dan sekam padi terhadap peningkatan derajat kristalinitas hidroksiapatit dentin. Metode: 24 sampel gigi dibuat kavitas buatan dan dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok. Kelompok 1 (dentin normal) sebagai kontrol, kelompok 2 dentin demineralisasi, kelompok 3 dentin demineralisasi diaplikasi semen C2SCS dengan rasio pencampuran 1:1, kelompok 4 dentin demineralisasi diaplikasi semen C2SCS rasio 1:2. Seluruh sampel disimpan dalam shaking incubator pada suhu 37° C selama 14 hari. Kemudian sampel gigi tersebut diperiksa dengan XRD dan SEM untuk melihat peningkatan jumlah kristal hidroksiapatit dentin. Hasil: Terdapat peningkatan derajat kristalinitas hidroksiapatit dentin setelah aplikasi semen C2SCS rasio 1:1 yang nilainya berbeda bermakna dengan dentin demineralisasi, dan tidak berbeda bermakna dengan dentin sehat (kontrol positif). Semen C2SCS rasio 1:1 lebih berpotensi untuk meningkatkan pembentukan kristal hidroksiapatit pada dentin demineralisasi dibanding rasio 1:2 Kesimpulan: Semen C2SCS dari cangkang telur dan sekam padi memiliki potensi untuk meremineralisasi dentin. Semen C2SCS rasio 1:1 memiliki potensi remineralisasi dentin yang lebih tinggi dibanding kelompok lainnya.

Background: C2SCS cement is one of bioactive material synthesized from natural material, such as eggshell calcium and rice husk silica. Objective: To determine the effect of C2SCS cement made from eggshell and rice husk silica to the increase of degree of cristallinity of dentin hydroxyapatite. Methods: Artificial cavity was made in 24 tooth sample, which then divided into 4 groups. Group 1 is normal dentin as the positive control group. Group 2 is demineralized dentin. Group 3 is demineralized dentin applied with C2SCS cement in mixing ratio of 1:1. Group 4 is demineralized dentin applied with C2SCS cement in mixing ratio of 1:2. All samples are stored inside a shaking incubator at a temperature of 37 C. An examination using XRD was done to all samples to see the degree of cristallinity of dentin hydroxyapatite, and a SEM image is taken to see morphology and microstructure of hydroxyapatite. Result: There is a significant increase of degree of cristallinity of dentin hydroxyapatite after C2SCS cement application with 1:1 ratio compared to demineralized dentin, and insignificant difference with normal dentin. C2SCS cement in 1:1 ratio has more potential to increase the formation of hydroxyapatite crystal compared to 1:2 ratio. Conclusion: C2SCS cement made from eggshell and rice husk silica has the potential to remineralize dentin. C2SCS cement in 1:1 ratio has more remineralization potential compared to other groups."

"Latar belakang: Silver Diamine Fluoride dan Laser CO2 merupakan alternatif perawatan yang dapat dipilih untuk menangani hipersensivitas denton.
Tujuan: Mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan Silver Diamine Fluoride dan Laser CO2 dalam menurunkan skor hipersensitivitas dentin.
Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain single blind, split-mouth randomized controlled trial yang melibatkan 16 subjek dengan keluhan gigi sensitif dan memiliki minimal dua gigi yang positif terhadap uji evaporatif atau uji thermal. Subjek akan diaplikasikan Silver Diamine Fluoride dan Laser CO2. Pengukuran hipersensitivitas dentin dilakukan dengan stimulus evaporatif dan termal dan DIAGNOdent pasca aplikasi, 7 hari dan 14 hari setelah aplikasi.
Hasil: Terjadi penurunan skor Hipersensitivitas dan DIAGNOdent yang berbeda bermakna terhadap data baseline segera pasca aplikasi, 7 hari dan 14 hari pasca aplikasi p=0,000 untuk stimulus evaporatif, termal dan DIAGNOdent . Tetapi tidak terdapat perbedaan bermakna secara statistik antara aplikasi Silver Diamine Fluoride dan aplikasi Silver Diamine Fluoride dan Laser CO2 pada setiap pengukuran.
Kesimpulan: Penggunaan Silver Diamine Fluoride dan Laser CO2 efektif dalam menurunkan skor hipersensitivitas dentin.

Background: Silver Diamine fluoride and CO2 Laser are a new alternative treatment for dentin hypersensitivity.
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of Silver Diamine Fluoride and CO2 Laser in reducing dentin hypersensitivity score.
Methods: The study used a single blind, split mouth design randomized controlled trial involving 16 subjects with symptoms of sensitive teeth and have at least two hypersensitive teeth which are positive to evaporative or thermal test. The subject teeth surface will be applied Silver diamine fluoride and CO2 Laser will be applied to the subject teeth surface.
Results: This clinical study demonstrated that the application of Silver Diamine Fluoride and CO2 Laser reduce dentin hypersensitivity significantly in each measurement p 0,000 for evaporative and thermal stimulus. But there is no statistically significant differences between the two application.
Conclusion: The usage of Silver Diamine Fluoride and CO2 Laser are effective to reduce the degree of dentin hypersensitivity.

"Ketahanan ikatan resin komposit-dentin merupakan salah satu penentu keberhasilan restorasi resin komposit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis efek klorheksidin terhadap degradasi kekuatan ikat resin kompositdentin.
Metode: Dua puluh empat sampel dentin yang diambil dari mahkota gigi premolar, dibagi menjadi tiga kelompok yang diberikan perlakuan berbeda. Kelompok I diberi perlakuan bahan bonding tanpa klorheksidin, kelompok II diberi perlakuan klorheksidin dan bonding, kelompok III diberi perlakuan bonding mengandung klorheksidin, pada tiap kelompok dibagi menjadi 2 sub-kelompok yaitu kelompok tanpa direndam dan kelompok yang direndam NaOCl 10% selama satu jam, sehingga didapat enam sub-kelompok. Kemudian seluruh kelompok di ukur kekuatan ikat gesernya menggunakan Universal Testing Machine. Satu sampel dari setiap sub-kelompok dilakukan Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Data dianalisa statistik dengan uji hipotesis Kruskal Wallis yang dilanjutkan dengan uji Mann-Whitney.
Hasil: rerata kekuatan ikat geser sebelum perendaman NaOCl 10% tertinggi kelompok I sedangkan rerata kekuatan ikat geser setelah perendaman NaOCl 10% tertinggi pada kelompok III. Terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara kelompok I terhadap kelompok II dan antara kelompok II terhadap kelompok III.
Kesimpulan: Klorheksidin mempunyai efek terhadap pengurangan degradasi kekuatan ikat geser resin komposit-dentin.

Resilience of composite resin-dentin bonding known as one of success composite resin restoration determinants. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of chlorhexidine on reducing the degradation of composite resin-dentin shear bond strength.
Methods: Twenty-four premolar crowns were divided into three groups then given different treatments. Group I was treated material bonding without chlorhexidine, group II was treated with chlorhexidine and bonding, group III was treated with chlorhexidine-contained bonding. Each group was divided into two sub-groups: the group without immersion of NaOCl 10% and the group with immersion of NaOCl 10% for one hour, then it were obtained six sub-groups. After twenty-four hours, shear bond strengths measured using Universal Testing Machine. A sample of each group was photographed with Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Statistical analysis was done by Kruskal Wallis test, then followed by Mann Whitney test to determine significance between groups.
Results: The mean value of shear bond strength before immersion of NaOCl 10% was highest on Group I, while the mean value of shear bond strength after immersion of NaOCl 10% was highest on Group III. There are significant differences between Group I with Group II and between Group II with Group III.
Conclusion: Chlorhexidine have an effect on reducing the degradation of shear bond strength of resin-dentin bonding.

Latar Belakang: Hipersensitif dentin dipengaruhi oleh akumulasi plak pada
permukaan gigi dan penetrasi bakteri pada tubulus dentin. Tujuan: Menganalisis
proporsi serotipe c Streptococcus mutans dan tingkat keasaman di dalam plak
dan saliva penderita resesi gingiva yang hipersensitif dentin dengan penderita
resesi gingiva yang non hipersensitif. Metode: Tiga puluh enam sampel plak dan
saliva dibagi dalam dua kelompok yaitu kelompok hipersensitif dan non
hipersensitif. Dilakukan ekstrak DNA sampel, pengukuran pH sampel dan
evaluasi amplifikasi serotipe c Streptococcus mutans dengan alat Real Time
PCR. Hasil: Proporsi serotipe c Streptococcus mutans di dalam plak dan
saliva tidak berbeda pada penderita resesi gingiva dengan hipersensitif
dentin maupun non hipersensitif, Kesimpulan: Proporsi serotipe c
Streptococcus mutans plak dan saliva tidak mempengaruhi hipersensitif
dentin.

Tujuan: menganalisis pengaruh EBA dengan kadar PA 2 9 terhadap kekerasan mikro dentin saluran akar.
Metode: 50 gigi dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok yang direndam larutan EBA larutan NaOCl 3 dan aquabides Dilakukan pengukuran nilai kekerasan mikro metode Vickers Analisis data menggunakan uji Kruskal Wallis.
Hasil: Nilai kekerasan mikro tertinggi pada kelompok EBA dan terendah kelompok NaOCl 3 Tidak terdapat perbedaan bermakna nilai kekerasan mikro kelompok EBA 2 9 dan aquabides p 0 05.
Kesimpulan: Larutan EBA dapat mempertahankan kekerasan mikro dentin saluran akar.

Background: Grape Seed Extract GSE contains proanthosianidin PA as collagen cross linking agent that determine dentin mechanical properties.
Aim: To analyze GSE with 2 9 PA effect on root canal dentin microhardness.
Method: 50 teeth divided into 3 groups which immerse in GSE NaOCl 3 and aquabides Microhardness value measured with Vickers method Data analyze with Kruskal Wallis.
Result: The highest microhardness value on GSE group and the lowest on NaOCl group No significant difference in microhardness value of GSE group compared to aquabides group p 0 05.
Conclusion: GSE solution maintain microhardness value of root canal dentin.

"ABSTRAK
Latar Belakang: Berdasarkan RISKESDAS 2013 sebanyak 28,9 anak kelompok usia 5-9 tahun yang memiliki masalah gigi, hanya 35,1 yang menerima perawatan. Penyakit gigi dan mulut yang paling sering terjadi adalah karies gigi, sehingga butuh bahan yang dapat berfungsi sebagai perawatan karies gigi anak yang mudah diaplikasikan dan terjangkau. Tujuan: Diketahuinya perbandingan aktivitas karies dentin sebelum dan sesudah aplikasi propolis fluoride serta hubungannya dengan indeks plak. Metode: Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi eksperimental tanpa randomisasi menggunakan data sekunder dengan metode pengambilan sampel convenience sampling. Sebanyak 183 subjek yang memiliki karies dentin dilakukan pengolesan propolis fluoride dan pemeriksaan indeks plak. Evaluasi pemeriksaan dilakukan setelah 1 bulan. Hasil: terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara nilai median karies dentin aktif sebelum 4 permukaan/anak dan setelah 1 bulan 1 permukaan/anak diaplikasikan Propolis Fluoride. Secara statistik terdapat korelasi berpola negatif yang signifikan p=0,015 dan r=-0,177 antara indeks plak dengan persentase karies terhenti. Kesimpulan : Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara aktivitas karies dentin sebelum dan sesudah aplikasi propolis fluoride serta terdapat hubungan yang signifikan dengan indeks plak.

ABSTRACT
Background According to Basic Health Research from 28,9 children aged 5 9 who had dental problems, only 35,1 children received treatment. Dental caries is the most prevalent dental problem, therefore treatment of dental caries that are easy to apply and affordable is needed. Objective The purpose of the study was to determine the comparison of dentine caries activity before and after propolis fluoride application and the correlation with plaque index. Method Design of the study was experimental study nonrandom using secondary data with convenience sampling method. A total of 183 subjects whose teeth have active dentine caries were smeared by propolis fluoride and plaque index were examined. Follow up examination were carried out after 1 month. Results There was a significant difference between the median value of active dentine caries before 4 surfaces children and after 1 month 1 surface children applicated by propolis fluoride. Statistically, there was a significant negative correlation p 0,015 and r 0,177 between plaque index with arrested dentine caries percentage. Conclusion There was a significant difference between dentine caries activity before and after propolis fluoride application and there was a significant correlation with plaque index.Keywords dentine caries plaque index propolis fluoride."

"Latar Belakang: Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) dan Propolis Fluoride (PPF) merupakan varnish yang memiliki sifat antibakteri dan dapat mencegah demineralisasi dan memicu remineralisasi Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kekerasan dentin setelah aplikasi varnish SDF dan PPF selama 30 hari dan 60 hari. Metode: Enam spesimen dentin gigi premolar dengan ukuran 4x4x2 mm diaplikasikan varnish SDF (38%) dan PPF (10%) kemudian setiap spesimen direndam dalam tube berisi aquadem lalu dikocok dengan kecepatan 45 rpm selama 30 menit setiap hari. Dan dilakukan uji kekerasan menggunakan Vickers microhardness tester setelah 30 dan 60 hari. Hasil: Nilai kekerasan dentin setelah 30 hari aplikasi SDF ialah 67 ± 2,83 VHN dan PPF ialah 61,00 ± 2,44 VHN. Sedangkan nilai kekerasan dentin setelah 60 hari aplikasi SDF ialah 69,00 ± 2,82 VHN dan PPF ialah 73,25 ± 1,71 VHN. Kesimpulan: Varnish SDF dan PPF efektif meningkatkan kekerasan dentin.

The fluoride content present in both varnishes could inhibit demineralization and promote remineralization Objective: This study analyzed the dentin microhardness after 30 and 60 days application of Sodium diamine fluoride (SDF) and propolis fluoride (PPF). Methods: Six dentin blocks were allocated and divided into control groups and treatment groups with SDF (38%) and PPF (10%). Each dentin block in the treatment group received a topical application of various fluoridebased varnishes and was submerged in aquadem and shaken for 30 minutes at 45 rpm every day. The dentin hardness was analyzed by a Vickers microhardness tester. Results: Dentin microhardness after 30 days application of SDF varnish was 67 ± 2,83 VHN and PPF varnish was 61,00 ± 2,44 VHN. While, Dentin microhardness after 60 days application of SDF varnish was 69,00 ± 2,82 VHN and PPF varnish was 73,25 ± 1,71 VHN Conclusion: SDF and PPF were effective for dentin remineralization and increase dentin microhardness.
