Ketidakseimbangan antara laju pertumbuhan angkatan kerja disatu tempat dengan laju pertumbuhan kesempatan kerja, menimbulkan mobilitas tenaga kerja. Kajian-kajian yang membahas mobilitas tenaga kerja yang disebabkan tekanan ekonomi pada umumnya hanya membahas aspek-aspek yang tampak dari tekanan ekonomi yang menyebabkan mobilitas tersebut. Aspek-aspek yang tampak itu misalnya terbatasnya lapangan kerja di daerah asal dan mudahnya memperoleh uang di daerah tujuan.
