People from Buton, Southeast Sulawesi, have for centuries migrated to Ambon for work, there forming one of the most prominent communities of 'pendatang' along with the Bugis. Since the beginning of the recent conflicts in Maluku, official figures indicate that over 160,000people have returned to Buton (previous population 450,000) as refugees. This paper discusses the identity of these refugees and how the term 'refugee' may be misleading. Some of the 'refugees', who often ask to be referred to as 'returned migrants', had retained strong connections with their villages in Buton while they were living in Ambon. Their integration back into Butonese society after their flight from the conflict in Ambon poses, however, a number of serious challenges, especially for those born in Ambon. Having always been called 'Butonese' in Ambon, the returned migrants are often referred to as 'Ambonese' after their return to Buton and they often find it hard to adjust to life in Buton. This paper is based on fieldwork currently being undertaken in the village of Boneoge, Buton. I will discuss some aspects of the lives of the returned migrants in Buton, including their interactions with other Butonese people, as well as some of their perspectives on their own experiences. In Buton; perspectives on their identity are thus being expressed and contested through issues such as use of local languages, dance parties, and contested land rights. Their memories of life in Ambon, and of the conflict, also play a role in their constructions of identity, and in how they respond to challenges intheir lives in Buton now. Here memory is seen as a constructive process, which is culturally influenced, structured by narratives, and adapted to a context."

Acculturative stress is a type of stress with stressors sourced by acculturation process (Berry et al., 1987). Acculturative stress is frequently experienced by migrant students. If it is not handled well, acculturative stress could affect studenst's health and well-being, decrease academic performance, induce negative situations, such as anxiety, threatening stereotypes, and increasing cognitive burdens. This thesis is carried out to discuss the description of acculturative stress of first-year migrant students in Universitas Indonesia. This study found that the majority of students experienced severe acculturative stress (50.9%). The most stressors experienced are academic problems, financial problems, and discrimination problems. In addition, it was also found out the acculturative stress level differences based on gender and regional origin. More women experience severe acculturative stress level (61%) than men (40.7%). Besides that, migrant students who come from outside Java Island experience more stress."

High levels of perceived social support have been shown to contribute to low feelings of loneliness experienced by individuals. This study wants to see the difference in the influence of the perceived sources of social support on the emergence of loneliness among first-year foreign students at the University of Indonesia. Participants in this study were 169 first-year foreign students at the University of Indonesia who came from outside Jabodetabek who had never migrated before, and currently live alone. The results of statistical analysis using Linear Multiple Regression Analysis show that there is a simultaneous effect of 18.8% of the measurement of three perceived sources of social support, namely family, friends, and significant others, against loneliness. In addition, it was found that social support was considered from friends as the biggest contributor to height towards loneliness (β = -0.352, p = 0.040) when interacting with social support from family and significant others. The source of social support felt by friends seemed to have the most influence on the level of loneliness of migrant students in this study, R2 = 0.069, F (1.167) = 12.368, p <0.05. Suggestions for this research is able to add self-report at the end of the questionnaire to find out the form of support provided by each source specifically."

Sojourner college students have to face more adaptation in their college life, especially now after there are global changes all around the world because of COVID-19 pandemic. In this stressful situation, nature relatedness and resilience have an important role in reducing college students’ negative perception of the situation. This research’s objective is to see the role of resilience as mediator between nature relatedness and perceived stress. Data were taken using online survey from sojourner students all over Indonesia (N = 123). Variables were measured using the adaptations of 21-Item Nature Relatedness Scale (NR21), Resilience Scale (RS), and Perceived Stress Scale (PSS). The data that have already been collected were analyzed using mediation model on Hayes’ PROCESS tool on SPSS. Results from this research is nature relatedness can positively predict resilience, resilience can negatively predict perceived stress, and there is an indirect-only mediation from resilience to the relationship between nature relatedness and perceived stress of sojourner college students."
