Teknologi kompresi video dalam video digital bukanlah sesuatu yang baru. Sangatlah tidak efisien untuk menyimpan sebuah video digital dalam bentuk uncompressed RGB. Di sini akan dilakukan percobaan pada dua buah teknologi kompresi yang populer saat ini, yaitu sistem kompresi DivX dan sisiem kompresi MPEG-l.
