"Dengan meningkatnya pengaruh media digital, aksesibilitas terhadap konten telah meluas secara global, menjadikan peran media semakin penting. Komunitas LGBTQIA+ telah lama mengadvokasi representasi yang akurat dan inklusif di media. Penelitian ini menganalisis serial Druck (2018) musim ketiga, berfokus pada karakter Matteo dan David, serta mengeksplorasi penggambaran mereka sebagai remaja LGBTQIA+. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dan teori maskulinitas hegemonik oleh R.W. Connell dan James W. Messerschmidt, penelitian ini menginterpretasikan bagaimana konstruksi sosial tentang maskulinitas mempengaruhi representasi karakter LGBTQIA+ dan interaksi mereka dalam alur cerita. Aspek sinematografi dalam Druck dianalisis melalui teori sinematografi Blain Brown. Druck secara efektif menggambarkan perjuangan dan penerimaan identitas LGBTQIA+, menampilkan perjalanan Matteo menuju penerimaan diri dan navigasi David melalui prasangka sosial. Serial ini mengilustrasikan transisi dari heteronormativitas konvensional menuju pemahaman yang lebih inklusif tentang maskulinitas dan identitas, menyoroti pentingnya lingkungan sosial yang mendukung dan mencerminkan pergeseran budaya yang lebih luas menuju keberagaman dan penerimaan.

With the increasing influence of digital media, accessibility to content has expanded globally, rendering media's role increasingly essential. The LGBTQIA+ community has long advocated for accurate and inclusive representation in the media. This paper analyzes Druck (2018), focusing on the third season’s characters Matteo and David, exploring their portrayal as LGBTQIA+ adolescents. By using a qualitative research method and R.W. Connell and James W. Messerschmidt's theory of Hegemonic Masculinity, the study interprets how social constructions of masculinity influence the representation of LGBTQIA+ characters and their interactions within the narrative. The cinematographic aspects of Druck are analyzed through the theoretical lens of Cinematography by Blain Brown. Druck effectively portrays the struggle and acceptance of LGBTQIA+ identities, depicting Matteo’s journey towards self-acceptance and David’s navigation through societal biases. The series illustrates the transition from conventional heteronormativity to a more inclusive understanding of masculinity and identity, highlighting the importance of supportive social networks and reflecting a broader cultural shift towards diversity and acceptance."

"Artikel ini menyoroti perkembangan representasi queer dan trans di televisi. Komunitas LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, ally) terus didiskriminasi hingga hari ini (Americanprogress.org, 2020). Terlepas dari fakta tersebut, kini alur cerita transgender menjadi lebih umum di lanskap media saat ini, dan menggeser bentuk representasi trans yang tersedia untuk khalayak (Berberick, 2018). Menggunakan teori representasi Stuart Hall (1997) untuk menganalisis serial TV hit HBO, "Euphoria"–yang mencakup representasi positif dari karakter trans-femme (Vice, 2019), studi ini mengamati dampak representasi di media arus utama pada audiensnya. This article highlights the significance of queer and trans representation in television. The LGBTQIA+ community continues to be discriminated against today, and Generation Z is more exposed to media than

ever (Francis, 2022). However, transgender storylines have become more prevalent in today’s media landscape, raising fundamental considerations concerning the forms of trans representation available to audiences (Berberick, 2018). Using Stuart Hall’s (1997) representation theory to analyse HBO’s hit TV series, “Euphoria”, which includes a good representation of a trans-femme character (Vice, 2019), this article observes the impacts of such representation in mainstream media on its audiences. This article argues that queer representation in the media directly affects queer people in real life. "
