"Laporan keuangan merupakan sumber informasi mengenai keadaan perusahaan dan dapat dijadikan sebagai dasar evaluasi strategi pemsahaan. Kemampuan memahami dan menganalisis laporan keuangan merupakan hal yang sangat penting untuk mempertahankan keberlangsungan dan daya saing perusahaan. Permainan simulasi bisnis dengan output laporan keuangan dapat memberikan suatu lingkungan yang interaktif, memotivasi, dan bebas resiko untuk melatih interpretasi dan analisis atas laporan keuangan yang dihasilkan oleh keputusan-keputusan bisnis yang diambil. Sedangkan bentuk bisnis keluarga dapat menyediakan suatu materi laporan keuangan sederhana yang mempermudah pemahaman dan proses pembelajaran. Perancangan permainan simulasi bisnis keluarga pada penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan sistem dinamis yang dapat memodelkan kompleksitas suatu sistem dan mempermudah identifikasi keterkaitan antar variabel-variabel yang ada dalam sistem tersebut. Proses pembuatan permainan dilakukan dengan menggunakan bantuan software Powersim Studio 2005 dan Microsoft Excel. Permainan simulasi yang dirancang pada penelitian ini bernama Financial Game yang mensimulasikan aktivitas bisnis suatu perusahaan dagang. Pada setiap awal periode permainan, peserta diharuskan melakukan input keputusan yang mencakup keputusan bisnis, keputusan investasi dan keputusan pembiayaan. Kemudian di akhir setiap periode, peserta akan mendapatkan output berupa laporan keuangan perusahaan, perhitungan rasio keuangan serta indikator-indikator tambahan lainnya. Selain itu, permainan ini juga dilengkapi dengan pedoman permainan peserta untuk mendukung implementasi permainan simulasi ini secara efektif. Hasil identifikasi poin pembelajaran yang dapat diperoleh permainan ini menunjukkan bahwa permainan simulasi ini mendukung proses pembelajaran dalam memahami laporan keuangan, menganalisis dampak keputusan yang diambil terhadap laporan keuangan, serta penggunaan laporan keuangan sebagai dasar pengambilan keputusan.
Financial report is the source of information that shows the condition of a company and it can be used as a reference for business strategy evaluation. The skill in interpreting and analyzing financial report is essential to maintain the continuity and competitive power of a company. Business simulation game with financial report as its output can provide an interactive, motivating, risk-free environment to improve the skill in interpreting and analyzing financial report produced by business decisions. While the characteristics of family-owned business can provide a simple kind of financial report that can ease understanding and support the learning process. Design of family-owned business simulation game in this paper was conducted with system dynamics approach which is able to model the complexity of a system and ease the identification of the relationships between variables in the system. The simulation game was built using Powersim Studio 2005 and Microsoft Excel software. The simulation game designed in this paper is Financial Game that simulates business activities of a distribution company. In the beginning of each period of the game, the players have to input their decisions that include business decisions, investing decisions, and financing decisions. Then in the end of each period, the players will be able to see the output of the game which includes financial report, financial ratios, and several other indicators. Besides that, this game is also equipped with game manual to support effective implementation of the game. Results of learning points identification of the game show that the game is able to support the process of learning in understanding financial report, analysing the effect of decisions made to financial report, and using financial report as a reference in decision making."
