Pesatnya pembangunan segala bidang di kota Jakarta berakibat kepada peningkatan jumlah penduduk. Untuk melayani aktivitas penduduknya yang sudah terlanjur banyak, Jakarta terpaksa meningkatkan pembangunan fasilitas fisik pada ruang-ruang terbuka hijau kota (RTH kota).

Dampak yang ditimbulkan adalah berkurangnya volume serta kualitas RTH kota, sehingga dikawatirkan dapat menurunkan daya dukungnya terhadap lingkungan.
