The main challenge of the clinical laboratory unit in hospitals today is to carry out cost efficiency, especially the cost of human resources. On the other hand, patients and doctors want the results of laboratory tests that are faster and more accurate. This study aims to determine the number of medical laboratory technology experts needs based on workload at the Clinical Laboratory Unit of the Santa Maria Pekanbaru Hospital. The research method used is operational research with quantitative and qualitative analysis. Workload analysis was carried out on all 15 medical laboratory technology experts with a combination of work sampling and daily log methods. Calculation of workforce needs is carried out with 3 methods, namely the Ilyas Method, the WISN Method, and the Full Time Equivalent Method. The results of research were the needs of 18 medical laboratory technology experts according Ilyas Method, 21 person according WISN Method, and 17 person according Full Time Equivalent Method. It was recommended to the Santa Maria Pekanbaru Hospital to add 3 medical laboratory technology experts. "

New medical technology should have a higher purpose that can be used by users with ease in an effective, efficient and satisfying (ISO 9421-11). The study was conducted to determine the level of acceptance from two groups of nurses to the infusion monitoring control tool with high usability so that tool is ready to be commercialized. Based on the acceptability analysis using the Usability Testing method, the study has obtained the result that the number of nurses who received the new technology is as much as 75% if there is an improvement of design. The technical feedback can be used by development product team to improvement design product."

Medical image compression has been a controversial application of compression technology. There are two types of image compression: lossless and lossy. The value of compression ratio in the lossless compression is not too big so that lossy compression is applied. The main concern in the medical image compression is the determination of visually lossless threshold limit of quantitation where values are determined so that the compression of medical images can be applied before the distortion is captured by the human visual system. In this thesis, a simulation of medical image compression based on contrast threshold and visual masking is tested on modalities: computed tomography, mammography, and X-ray. Subjective evaluation was conducted to assess the quality of medical image decompression results involving radiologist as testers. The degree of clarity of the algorithms used in medical image on the modality of X-rays, mammography, and computed tomography, respectively are 90,00%, 85,00%, and 89,1666667%. Compression ratio and time required to perform compression and decompression vary on each medical image tested."

"The first volume is devoted to the interface between physiologic mechanisms and arising biosignals, whereas the second volume is focussed on the interface between biosignals and biomedical sensors. The physiologic mechanisms behind the biosignals are described from the basic cellular level up to their advanced mutual coordination level during sleep. The arising biosignals are discussed within the scope of vital physiologic phenomena to foster their understanding and comprehensive analysis."

"Multidetector-row computed tomography (MDCT) has become a fundamental imaging technique for the study of many anatomical districts in different clinical situations, as it provides a fast, reliable, and accurate simultaneous evaluation of different organs, including parenchyma, hollow viscera, vessels, and bony structures. It has also equipped the radiologist with the ability to explore areas that in the last decade were largely ignored by CT, especially the coronary arteries and the colon, and to limit invasive diagnostic tests (e.g., catheter angiography) to those cases in which interventional procedures are required.
The examination quality and the consequent diagnostic accuracy of MDCT are the results of an optimized study technique, which nonetheless needs to be adapted to the particular clinical situation of the patient, while bearing in mind the radiation exposure. Another fundamental parameter in the optimization of MDCT is the protocol for the intravenous injection of iodinated contrast material; in these studies, multiple variables, some modifiable by the operator and others patient-dependent, must be considered based on the aims of maximizing arterial and venous enhancements whilst minimizing the dose of iodine injected, saving money, and increasing patient safety.
Through the presentation of cases addressing different anatomical regions and various clinical indications, including emergency and neuro-imaging, this volume seeks to provide the general radiologist and trainee specialist with a guide to the main study protocols to be implemented in order to optimize examination quality and, consequently, facilitate the diagnostic process."
