"ABSTRAKMusik rap yang berasal dari budaya HipHop sebagai bagian dari budaya populer merupakan ajang untuk berekspresi bagi anak muda di Jerman. Keberadaan Bushido dan penyanyi-penyanyi rap Jerman lain yang multikultural dan sukses besar dalam industri musik dapat dikatakan sebagai fenomena budaya populer. Melalui dua lagunya Bravo Cover dan Alles Wird Gut, Bushido memperjelas identitasnya sebagai penyanyi rap non Jerman. Dalam skripsi ini, proses konstruksi identitas Bushido dalam arena budaya populer yang hegemonik dilihat berdasarkan skema circuit of culture yang menganalisis lima aspek, yaitu representasi, identitas, produksi, konsumsi dan regulasi.

ABSTRACTRap music, having its roots in the hiphop culture as part of popular culture, is a site where german teenagers can express themselves. Bushido's existence and that of other german rappers who are multicultural and very successful in the music industry, can be called as popular culture phenomenon. Through two of his songs Bravo Cover and Alles Wird Gut, Bushido shows his identity as a non german rapper. In this bachelor thesis, the construction process of Bushido's identity in the arena of hegemonic popular culture is based on the "circuit of culture" scheme which analyses five aspects: representation, identity, production, consumption and regulation. "

"This study is concerned with the utility of violent rhetoric within the lyrics of dead prez specifically, and Hip-Hop culture generally. Rather than dismissing rappers as indecent, and therefore inconsequential, due to their violent rhetoric, I seek to determine whether their use of such rhetoric is a strategy to create and expand discursive space for a muted group that is traditionally denied such space. Using Frantz Fanon’s theory of violence found in his seminal work The Wretched of the Earth (1963), I am to gain further understanding of the ways in which violence may affect beneficial social change for oppressed and marginalized populations. This essay advances the study of communication culture by arguing that the violent rhetorical constitution of dead prez’s lyrics finds legitimacy through being used as a rhetorical tool of resistance to social oppression and social justice."

"Keberadaan penyanyi rap Jerman berlatar belakang imigran turut menyukseskan popularitas budaya Hiphop Jerman, khususnya industri musik rap di Jerman. Latar belakang budaya para penyanyi rap Jerman dengan latar belakang imigran yang beragam menciptakan ciri khas tersendiri dalam kancah musik rap di Jerman. Musik rap tidak hanya menjadi medium untuk ekspresi diri tetapi juga untuk menyampaikan pesan-pesan terkait kondisi sosial yang ada. Keberhasilan multikulturalisme di Jerman yang masih menjadi wacana hingga saat ini turut menjadi permasalahan sosial yang kerap kali diangkat sebagai tema musik rap Jerman. Diskriminasi terhadap imigran di Jerman atas perbedaan etnis dan ras sebagai penentu identitas merupakan salah satu permasalahan yang terjadi pada seorang penyanyi rap Jerman-Turki, Eko Fresh. Usahanya dalam mengklarifikasi identitas dirinya sebagai seorang Jerman menimbulkan permasalahan, bahwa ia dihadapkan dengan lingkungan yang tidak memandang dirinya sebagai seorang Jerman. Persoalan identitas yang dialami Eko Fresh sesuai dengan pernyataan Stuart Hall 1996, bahwa identitas seseorang tidak selalu ditentukan oleh hal-hal yang bersifat tetap seperti etnis ras seseorang, melainkan dapat dikonstruksi. Di sisi lain, Eko Fresh menunjukkan atribut-atribut Turki dan Timur Tengah dalam video klip musiknya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperlihatkan bagaimana Eko Fresh membentuk identitasnya dengan menganalisis atribut Turki dan Timur Tengah dalam video klip. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis tekstual dengan pendekatan semiotika. Berdasarkan penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa latar belakang budaya merupakan sesuatu yang tidak dapat hilang begitu saja dan dapat mempengaruhi identitas yang seseorang miliki. Seseorang dapat memiliki lebih dari satu identitas secara bersamaan. Dengan demikian, identitas Eko Fresh dalam video klip menunjukkan bahwa identitas seseorang tidak bersifat tunggal dan mutlak.

The existence of German rappers with immigrant background has succeed the popularity of German Hip hop culture mdash especially rap music industry mdash in Germany. The cultural background of German rappers with immigrant backgrounds create its own characteristic in the German rap scene. Rap is not only a medium of a self expression but also a medium to convey messages related to the social conditions that happen in a country. The success of multiculturalism in Germany which still remains a discourse until today has also become a social problem that is often used as a theme of German rsquo s rap music. The discrimination towards immigrants based on various ethnic and racial groups in Germany as identity determination is one of the problems that happened to a German rapper with Turkish descent named Eko Fresh. His effort to clarify his identity as a German shows that he is facing the surroundings who don rsquo t see him as a German. The issue of identity that he has experienced is in accordance with Stuart Hall rsquo s 1996 statement that identity is not always defined by something fixed like ethnicity and race, however it is something that can be constructed. On the other hand, Eko Fresh shows Turkish and Middle Easterns attributes in his music video. This thesis is aimed to show how Eko Fresh forms his identity by analyzing the Turkish and Middle Easterns attributes in the music video. The research method that used in this thesis is textual analysis with semiotic approach. Based on this research, it can be concluded that cultural background is not something that can easily disappear and it can influence someones identity. Anyone can have more than one identity at a time. Hence, Eko Freshs identity in the music video shows that identity is not singular and absolute. "
