Telah dilakukan suatu disain perlakuan panas pada paduan Al-Si untuk meningkatkan kekerasan paduan. Studi XRD terhadap paduan menunjukkan bahwa paduan adalah dua fasa yang diidentifikasi sebagai a-Al dan s-Si. Pada kondisi as cast kedua fasa terdistribusi secara random dengan fraksi volum kira-kira sama dan menghasilkan kekerasan mikro sekitar 56 HRB.
