Aplikasi interferometri SAR pada data satelit masih sangat terbatas, karena belum dimungkinkan menempatkan dua sensor SAR (radar) pada satu satelit. Kendala teknis ini muncul akibat keterbatasan penyediaan sumber daya untuk mengoperasikan dua sensor secara simultan. Akihatnya implementasi interferometri terbatas pada interferometri dengan pengulangan orbit (repeat-orbit interferometric). Sementara interferometri pada data airborne SAR relatif lebih luas karena dapat dilakukan interferometri along-track maupun accros-track.
