"Makalah ini membahas tentang bagaimana perempuan menjadi monster dalam dua Cerpen Lyudmila Petrushevskaya yang berjudul Гимн Cемье (1999) atau Hallelujah Family dan отец и мать (1988) atau Father andMother. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode analisis teks. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membuktikan bahwa monsterisasi yang dihadirkan oleh Petrushevskaya adalah upaya untuk menantang sistem patriarki yang dianut oleh masyarakat Rusia. Masalah ini dibongkar melalui konsep The Monstrous-Feminine (2007) dari Barbara Creed. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa tokoh-tokoh perempuan monster dalam cerpen adalah wujud dari ibu yang mengebiri serta femme castratrice yang mematikan. Tokoh tersebut dapat dijadikan sebagai representasi perempuan kontemporer di Rusia yang penuh dengan tekanan karena ideologi sosialisme tidak benar-benar mampu menyelesaikan masalah perempuan atau the woman question (zhenskii vopros). Dengan demikian, dapat diinterpretasikan bahwa cerpen-cerpen ini adalah bentuk perlawanan terhadap sistem pemerintahan Rusia yang patriarki sejak Uni Soviet hingga Rusia Modern.

This study discusses how women become monsters in two of Lyudmila Petrushevskaya's short stories entitled Гимн Cемье  (1999) atau Hallelujah Family and Father and Mother (1988). The method used in this study is the text analysis method. The purpose of this study is to prove that the monsterization presented by Petrushevskaya is an attempt to challenge the patriarchal system adopted by Russian society. This problem is analysed through the concept of The Monstrous-Feminine (2007) by Barbara Creed. The results of the analysis show that the female characters of monsters in short stories are the embodiment of a castrated mother and a deadly "femme castratrice". This figure can be used as a representation of contemporary women in Russia who are full of pressure because the ideology of socialism is not able to solve the problems of women or "the woman question" (zhenskii vopros). Thus, it can be interpreted that these short stories are a form of resistance against the patriarchal system of the Russian government, since the age of the Soviet Union to Modern Russia."
