"ABSTRACRMesikhat ornament is one of heritage artworks made by people in Alas tribe. As one of the cultural heritages, the motif of Meshikat ornament which is really important as the aesthetic symbol for Alas tribe in southeast Aceh. People in south Aceh call all of carve motif that come from south Aceh as Meshikat. However Meshikat is originally came from Alas tribe. Meshikat motif can be found in traditional house, traditional costume, bag, wallet and others accessories.Meshikat ornamnent had existed before the Independence day of lndonesia. However, it became popular around 1990 when the sewing machine was firstlyused in southeast of Aceh. Formerly, meshikat is only applied in traditional house but nowadays the motif is also used in fashion, bag, wall and others accessories. Meshikat, that is applied in traditional house and costume, has five colors, red, yellow, green, white and black. The basic colors symbolize different meanings. For example red symbolizes the bravery, green symbolizes the fertility, yellow shows the glory or the greatness, white symbolizes the purity, and black symbolizes the leadership.The idea of Meshikat motif originated from plants, animals, social life andchessboard. The descriptions are applied in the form of two dimension motifwithout ignoring the aesthetic aspect and the meaning of these objects. Meshikat motif present many interpretations and messages such as social message, moral value, and spiritual message depending on the motifs."

"ABSTRACTThe Goals of this research are to identity and analwe the local knowledge of Akit tribe society in managing the environment related with the value orientation. Utilization of Mangrove forest by Akit tribe is inseparable fromthe role of knowledge system. The conception of values which are the basisof human acts are stored within the framework of knowledge. According toKluckhohn, there are orientation values of culture possessed by society 1)the meaning of human life, 2) the meaning of human relationships withothers, 3) the problem of human perception about time, 4) Nature of work,5) the problem of human relationships with nature. This study describes local knowledge of Akit tribe community in exploiting nature where there isan exchange between the nature of work and the condition of nature damage. Akit tribe utilizes mangrove forest as their livelihood as supplier of mangrove wood at Panglong Arang. This research uses qualitative descriptive, with 6 informants and 4 key informants. Data obtained through interviews conducted in the Berancah village Bengkalis. The results of this study show that local knowledge of Akit Tribe people based on the concept of value orientation has its own definition according to local aspect. It has arelationship in the pattern of acting in the face of nature, therefore it isnecessary to pay attention on local knowledge, especially in the value ofthe essence of the very closely related work with the existence of mangroveforests, and utilize mangrove timber wisely so that the preservation of forests in the coastal areas are well preserved."

"ABSTRACTThis analysis entitled Ayun-ayun jo galitiak musical expression in Babiola in the society of Pesisir Selatan regency. It aims to show the musical expression in that Babiola by formulizing the empirical experience of the respondents. It is a qualitative analysis to explore the form of ayun-ayun jo galatik in the song of Sikambang. Data collecting is done by library research, observation, interview and documentation. The result shows that Ayun-ayunj o galatik has contour melody up and down in slow tempo with tree rhythm the musical expression."

"This research aims to analyze the availabity of reference collections in library of MAN I Pekanbaru. This research is quantitative analysis. It uses observation questionnaire and documentation techniques to collect the data. The result shows that the library MAN I Pekanbaru has 6 types of reference collections from I0 types of reference collection, base on National Standards of Library. The types of reference collection available are Scripture, Dictionary, Encyclopedia, Atlas, map, and government regulation. The important collections which are not yet available among thers: biography science dictionary directory dan almanac calendar."

"ABSTRACTThis research specifically aims to determine the role of leadership in encouraging organizations in implementing the principles of TQM in the Universitas Negeri Padang Library Descriptive research method with qualitative approach. Data collection through observation, interview and document analysis. Subjects in this study are leaders, sub-heads, events, facts, documents and various forms of efforts, programs or library activities. The object of this research is leadership in TQM which is implemented in Universitas Negeri Padang Library. The results of research related to the role of leadership in the library of universities can be seen from (1) the leader develops the vision and sets the direction and strategy of the college library to produce the changes needed to achieve the vision; (2) the leader communicates the goals to be achieved through statements and deeds to anyone who may be required to give eject to the formation of team that understands the vision and strategy of college library; (3) leaders provide motivation for library librarians and librarians; and (4) the leader must be able to create the desired change of the user and is very useful for the progress of the college library through the provision of new services desired by the user and the new approach in working relationships that help the college libraries compete."

"ABSTRACTThe purpose of this research is to analyze how the records management system used by the Deposit Acquisition and Processing Section of Library and Archives Pekanbaru. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method Data collection techniques are observation, interviews, documentation studies. Sample in this study is the Dynamic Archive inactive in Section Deposit Acquisition and Processing. The results of this study is: On the whole it can be said that the records management system used by officers in the archival processing Deposit Acquisition and Processing Section of Library and Archives Pekanbaru is good enough. This can be seen in the use of archival storage systems, maintenance records, destruction of records. Depreciation archives have not done the appropriate depreciation prosudur guidelines applicable record keeping. It means that depreciation archives conducted Deposit Acquisition and Processing Section of Library and Archives Pekanbaru City Records Retention Schedule not use."
