"Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff) Boerl.) telah diteliti mengandung flavonoid dan polifenol yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dan kestabilan fisik dari formulasi sediaan gel yang mengandung ekstrak etanol 70% daging buah Mahkota Dewa dalam konsentrasi yang bervariasi, yaitu 5xIC50 (0,031%), 25xIC50 (0,155%), dan 125xIC50­ (0,775%) dalam basis HPMC. Penentuan aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan metode peredaman DPPH. Uji stabilitas fisik dilakukan dengan pengamatan sediaan gel yang disimpan pada tiga suhu yang berbeda, yaitu suhu rendah (4±2°C), suhu ruang (27±2°C), suhu tinggi (40±2°C), dan cycling test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gel Mahkota Dewa 125xIC50­ (0,775%) memiliki aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi sebesar 95,536 ppm bila dibandingkan dengan gel Mahkota Dewa 0,031% (233,155 ppm), dan gel Mahkota Dewa 0,155% (150,996 ppm) tetapi lebih rendah dibanding gel Kuersetin (49,724 ppm). Gel Mahkota Dewa 0,031% dan 0,155% stabil secara fisik pada suhu rendah (4±2oC), suhu ruang (27±2°C), suhu tinggi (40±2oC), dan cycling test. Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff) Boerl.) has been observed to contain flavonoids and polyphenols that have high antioxidant activity.
