Drama Jean Racine ini diambil dari mitologi Yunani dan cerita cintayang dipaparkan berakhir dengan tragis. Tema cinta terlarang diduga menjadi penyebabterjadinya konflik cinta antartokoh. Analisis yang dilakukan untuk melihat gambaran konflikcinta yang terjadi yakni melalui alur, tokoh, hubungan cinta antartokoh, latar, dan tema dalamdrama.

ABSTRACT

This article discusses about love theme in the literature from the 17th century, in

particular about forbidden love’s theme of the main character in the classical tragedy drama

Phèdre, the last piece of a French dramaturgy, Jean Racine. In this drama, the characters

created by Jean Racine were derived from the ancient Greek mythology and the love plot

ends tragically. The theme of forbidden love is thought to be the cause of the love conflict

between characters. The analysis is carried out to see the illustration of the conflict of love

that occur through it’s plot, characters, the love affair between characters, setting, and
