"Feminisasi migrasi memainkan peranan penting dalam perkembangan proses migrasi beberapa dekade terakhir. Feminisasi migrasi tidak dimaksudkan untuk dipahami secara sempit sebagai meningkatnya jumlah perempuan yang bermigrasi saja, tetapi juga berubahnya pekerjaan atau kesempatan yang tersedia dan menurunnya kondisi terkait pekerjaan maupun kesempatan lain tersebut. Namun, tendensi yang terjadi dalam kajian migrasi adalah melihat feminisasi migrasi sebagai suatu pergeseran tren semata. Feminisasi migrasi juga cenderung digambarkan sebagai sesuatu yang sifatnya positif bagi perempuan. Perlu dipertanyakan apakah fenomena ini bermanfaat bagi perempuan sendiri, atau malah tetap memarjinalisasi. Memandang feminisasi migrasi dari perspektif feminis akan mampu mengungkap apakah migrasi merupakan suatu pilihan yang memerdekakan dan memberdayakan bagi perempuan. Atau di sisi lain, migrasi justru membuat perempuan semakin terpuruk.

However, a tendency that occurs in the study migration is that the feminization of migration is seen as nothing more than a shift in the migration trend. The feminization of migration also tends to be portrayed as something that has positive impacts for women. The question remains whether this phenomenon is an empowerment for women themselves, or on the contrary, serve to marginalize them even more. Looking at the phenomenon from a feminist perspective will be able to reveal whether migration is an option that is liberating and empowering for women. Or on the other hand, migration has made women face worse discrimination and marginalization."
