"Penelitian ini mengkaji perbandingan penokohan dan tema dalam cerita rakyat Namukkunkwa Seonyeo dari Korea dengan cerita rakyat Jaka Tarub dari Indonesia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode close reading dengan analisis penokohan dan tema dalam cerita rakyat dilihat dari pengaruh kebudayaan masyrakat tempat kedua cerita rakyat berasal. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah perbedaan penokohan dalam kedua cerita rakyat dipengaruhi oleh nilai dan kebudayaan pada masyarakat sumber cerita rakyat berasal, sedangkan persamaan yang ada dalam kedua dongeng dipengaruhi oleh struktur geografis tempat kedua cerita rakyat berasal yang cenderung mirip sehingga menimbulkan beberapa persamaan nilai kebudayaan dalam masyarakat tempat cerita rakyat berasal.

This research is focused on comparing the characters and themes between Korean folklore Namukkunkwa Seonyeo with Indonesian folklore Jaka Tarub. The method that used in this thesis is close reading method with analysist about the characters and themes of folklores judging from culture of people in folklores origin place. The result of the study is the difference between this two folklore affected by the value and culture of people in the origin place where this two folklores came, whilst the equation between this two folklore affected by the similarity in geographic where the origin places of this two folklore so as some of the culture between the origin places have similarity."
