"Artikel ini meneliti bentuk objektivikasi perempuan dan bagaimana tokoh perempuan yang merepresentasikan jenis kelamin kedua dalam cerpen Mouche terbebas dari objektivikasi dalam perspektif feminisme. Cerpen ini mengisahkan kehidupan Joseph Prunier dan keempat kawan lelakinya, N’a-qu’un-Oeil, Petit Bleu, La Tôque, dan Tomahawk, saat mereka menghabiskan waktu bersama-sama di sebuah kapal yang mereka beli. Kehidupan kelompok pertemanan yang hanya terdiri dari laki-laki itu berubah usai hadirnya seorang perempuan bernama Mouche. Dalam membedah pergeseran interaksi antar tokoh, penelitian ini menggunakan teori naratologi struktural Greimas (1982), konsep objektivikasi Nussbaum (1995), dan konsep feminisme Beauvoir (1949). Struktur naratif teks memperlihatkan alur cerita digerakkan oleh kehadiran Mouche sebagai tokoh perempuan. Kemudian, hasil analisis tematis menunjukkan tokoh perempuan dalam cerpen mengalami objektivikasi berupa instrumentality, denial of autonomy, dan ownership. Penelitian ini menemukan adanya upaya Guy de Maupassant sebagai penulis crepen menampilkan sisi lain perempuan melalui perubahan karakter tokoh perempuan. Tokoh Mouche berhasil membebaskan dirinya dari belenggu objektivikasi dengan perlawanan dan kekuatan yang dimilikinya.

This article examines the forms of objectification of women and the way the female character representing the second sex in the short story Mouche combats objectification from a feminist perspective. The story revolves around Joseph Prunier and his friends, N'a-qu'un-Oeil, Petit Bleu, La Tôque, and Tomahawk, as they spend time together on a boat. Their life changes upon the arrival of a woman named Mouche. In dissecting the shifting interactions between characters, this article uses Greimas' structural narratology theory (1982), Nussbaum’s concept of objectification (1995), and Beauvoir’s concept of existentialist feminism (1949). The narrative structure of the text shows that the storyline is driven by the presence of Mouche as a female character. The results of the thematic analysis show that the female character in this short story experiences objectification practices in the form of instrumentality, denial of autonomy, and ownership. This research found Guy de Maupassant’s attempt to portray another side of the female character, Mouche, through her character development. Mouche managed to free herself from the shackles of objectification with her resistance and power."
