"Masyarakat Sedulur Sikep Klopoduwur sering dianggap sebagai masyarakat terbelakang dan dipandang negatif sejak masa pemerintahan kolonial Belanda dan bertahan hingga saat ini. Belum begitu banyak yang membahas mengenai Sedulur Sikep Klopoduwur, berbagai penelitian yang telah ada lebih sering membahas Samin Surosentiko untuk membahas atau merujuk masyarakat Sedulur Sikep Klopoduwur. Makalah ini ditulis dengan metode kualitatif data sekunder berbasis studi pustaka. Penelitian ini kemudian berangkat dari pertanyaan terkait identitas penganut ajaran Sikep tentang bagaimana identitas mereka selama ini dilihat oleh berbagai pihak dan bagaimana identitas tersebut dipertahankan di era modern ini. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa; (1) pandangan negatif terhadap penganut ajaran Sikep telah dibentuk sejak masa pemerintahan kolonial Belanda dan dilanggengkan pada masa kemerdekaan indonesia dan pemerintahan Orde Baru, (2) Masyarakat Sedulur Sikep Klopoduwur telah berusaha untuk mengubah pandangan terhadap diri mereka agar dapat dilihat secara positif dengan perubahan-perubahan dalam masyarakat Sedulur Sikep Klopoduwur yang terjadi pada era modern.

The Sedulur Sikep Klopoduwur community has often been considered a backward community and has been viewed negatively since the Dutch colonial era and continues to this day. Not much has been discussed about Sedulur Sikep Klopoduwur, various existing studies have more often discussed Samin Surosentiko to discuss or refer to the Sedulur Sikep Klopoduwur community. This paper was written using qualitative secondary data methods based on literature study. This research then starts from questions related to the identity of adherents of the Sikep teachings regarding how their identity has been viewed by various parties and how this identity is maintained in this modern era. The results of this research show that; (1) negative views towards adherents of Sikep teachings have been formed since the Dutch colonial era and were perpetuated during the period of Indonesian Independence and the New Order government, (2) The Sedulur Sikep Klopoduwur community has tried to change their view of themselves so that they can be seen positively with changes in society Sedulur Sikep Klopoduwur which takes place in the modern era."

"Studi ini membahas mengenai identitas hibrid Cina-Banyumas. Pertama, akan bercerita mengenai ruang, agen dan relasi seperti apa yang berperan dalam rekonstuksi identitas. Ketiga hal tersebut akan bekerja dalam kerangka berpikir Berger. Kemudian, relasi sosial seperti apa yang terbentuk antara kedua etnik ini dan bagaiamana bentuk-bentuk relasi ini berkontribusi dalam rekonstruksi identitas. Dari hasil rekonstruksi identitas ini, maka identitas hibrid seperti apa yang akan muncul. Rekonstruksi identitas dibangun dengan beberapa tahapan yang dalam penelitian ini dilihat melalui kerangka berpikir dari konstruksi sosial yang diungkapkan Berger dan Luckmann, yang memiliki tiga proses utama dalam rekonstruksinya yaitu proses eksternalisasi, obyektifikasi, dan internalisasi. Di dalam proses-proses rekonstruksi identitas ini penuh dengan proses yang disebut dengan Bhaba mimikri, dimana etnis Cina-Banyumas melakukan peniruan-peniruan dan imitasi sebagai upaya untuk mengambil nila-nilai lokal Banyumas. Karena proses-proses imitasi yang terjadi berulang-ulang, mengakibatkan batasan antara nilai lokal dan Cina-Banyumas menjadi kabur. Batasan-batasan yang menjadi tidak jelas ini melahirkan identitas hibrid yang baru. Adapun temuan lapangan dari studi ini ada beberapa nilai dan simbol yang berperan dalam membentuk karakter hibrid Cina-Banyumas, seperti karakter Bawor dari wong Banyumas, nilai konfusius dari Tionghoa. Agen sosialisasi juga bervariasi dari mulai kelompok kecinaan, keluarga, tokoh masyarakat dan agama.

These studies about Chinese-Banyumas identity. First, will talk about the social space, agents and relations that play a role in the reconstruction of identity. These three things will work within the framework of Berger. Then, identify relations form between these two ethnic groups and how these relationships contribute to the reconstruction of identity. From the results of reconstruction of this identity, then hybrid identity will appear. Reconstruction of identity is built with several stages in this research viewed through the framework of social construction by Berger and Luckmann, which has three main processes. There are process of externalization, objectification, and internalization. In the processes of identity reconstruction, Bhaba said is filled with mimicry processes, where the ethnic Chinese-Banyumas imitate the local values of Banyumas. Since imitation processes that occur repeatedly, resulting in the boundaries between local and Chinese-Banyumas become blurred. Boundaries became unclear who gave birth to a new hybrid identity. The field findings from this study: there are some values and symbols that play roles in shaping the character of the hybrid Chinese-Banyumas, like the character of Wong Banyumas, Bawor, the Confucius of China. Also, Agents of socialization varies from the Chinese group, family, community and religious leaders."
