"The development of the construction industry in Indonesia has been substantially contributing to the enhancement of the social and economic development of the people. However, its expansion has also become an issue, as the development might be implicated in the abuse of environmental sustainability when the practices of conducting the construction project abandon the rules and regulations of sustainable green construction concepts. Therefore, this study attempted to introduce a quantitative assessment tool called the Green Construction Site Index (GCSI) to evaluate the performance of an ongoing project to meet the sustainable green construction concept. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of GCSI as a quantitative assessment tool to measure the implementation of the green construction concept conducted by ongoing projects. Data were collected by onsite direct observation, interviews with key personnel, and project documentation review. Data were organized and analyzed using descriptive elaboration. The results showed that three aspects, the Efficiency Index (IE), Productivity Index (IP), and Awareness Index (IA), were effective in assessing 10 ongoing construction projects, categorized as Non-Commercial Non-Residential Building, Commercial Residential Building, and Commercial Non-Residential Building. The index generated using GCSI, upon assessing 10 buildings, was 3.39 and fell into the Good category with IE = 3.51, IP = of 2.86, and IA = 3.84. Another finding shows that the Project Organizational Commitment Index (POCI) to the indicator of the GCSI was 3.31 (Good category) with IPOL = 3.36, IPRO = 3.49, and IPRAC = 2.75. The capability of the GCSI to identify three aspects within a construction project simultaneously and comprehensively suggests the importance of its function as an effective tool that gives benefits to not only the contactors, but also to the authorities that control the green construction–related performance. Therefore, the GCSI is expected to be applied as a standardized reference by both the construction industries and regulating authorities. Despite its satisfactory findings, the GCSI needs to be furthered to achieve its reliability and validity to be adopted internationally."

"Classifying accident information into a specific categories provides inspectors with data needed for accident analysis and subsequent decision-making. This research proposes development of a database for accident analysis prevention. It will also presents a template and accident database focusing on fatal electrocutions and falls in the construction industry. Data has been stored in MySQL database, and a program editor has been employed to customize the program for accident analysis. An accident analysis form connected to the database has been developed, along with an accident report in qualitative format and meaningful categories to provide analyzable data. The program can be used as soon as an inspector finishes preparing an accident report; accessing the database minimizes the lead time for translating qualitative reports into analyzable data, so that the Council for Labor Affairs, corporate personel, and inspectors can have real time information about accident trends and patterns for the prevention of repetitive accidents."

"The construction industry has a vast impact on the environment and the economy. Construction project performance requires a focus on increasing the resource efficiency and reducing the impact on the environment during the construction lifecycle. This on-going research is addressed towards the need of improving construction project performance by creating added-value for building projects using quality management (QM) and value management (VM) approaches. This research employs a quantitative approach through a questionnaire survey distributed to construction industry stakeholders. The questionnaire consists of three parts of discussion including identification of critical success factors and barriers that exist typically at each construction stage in building projects, plus identification of additional functions in building projects, and total investment cost for building projects. As the significant findings indicate, this research evaluates how the understanding of quality and its perceived processes plus how the identification of additional functions can be applied to deliver efficiency and more added-value in building construction projects e.g. Energy Efficient Buildings."

The concept of green construction is one of the innovations being developed in the construction industry. Although the concept of green construction has improved over the years, several studies have shown that green construction projects pose a higher risk to worker health and safety compared to conventional projects. In 2009, out of 86 projects studied, it was concluded that health and safety challenges in projects adopting green construction practices were 46% higher compared to conventional projects. Ineffective safety audit is one of the factors that cause construction safety performance is still not optimal. This research aims to identify green construction aspects and SMKK elements and their influence on construction safety performance using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method which is then used to improve a safety audit instrument on green construction. This study found that the SMKK elements, namely leadership and labor participation as well as the construction safety operation element, have a significant influence on the performance evaluation of SMKK implementation, where the performance evaluation of SMKK implementation greatly affects construction safety performance. The results of this study are expected to provide in-depth insight into how the implementation of green construction can affect construction safety aspects, as well as provide recommendations for improving safety practices in these projects. This research is also expected to contribute to further understanding of construction safety in the context of sustainable construction in Indonesia."

Construction industry as one of the largest industries in Indonesia has a significant impact on the environment. Globally, construction industry contributes nearly 25% of total greenhouse gas emissions, utilizes 16% of total water consumption, contributing 30-40% of the total amount of solid waste. The solution to answer the problem is to implement green construction. In Indonesia green construction has started to be applied but the implementation is still limited to certain projects due to culture and behavior constraints. This research aims to identify the most dominant factors influencing stakeholder green behavior towards the application of green construction, using the Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method which can then be used in analyzing stakeholder perceptions of green behavior and green behavior barriers in application of green construction. The research data were collected from 46 green construction stakeholders (contractors and consultants) who have experience in green construction projects. This study found that there are five most dominant factors influencing green behavior: attitude towards green construction, technology, value, environmental knowledge and subjective norm. Overall, both contractors and consultants have a positive evaluation of green construction and identified four barriers to green behavior stakeholders in the implementation of green construction. Based on the results of dominant factors, the author formulates strategy recommendations to improve stakeholders’ green behavior in the implementation of green construction."
