"The significant motion sensor is a new sensor that promises motion detection at low power consumption. Despite that promise, no known research has explored the usage of this sensor, especially in mobile sensing research. In this study, we explore the utilization of this significant motion sensor for continuous motion and location sampling in a mobile sensing application. A location sensor is known for its expensive power consumption in retrieving the location data, and continuously sampling from it will quickly deplete a smartphone battery. We experiment with two sampling strategies that utilize this significant motion sensor to achieve low power consumption during continuous sampling. One strategy involves utilizing the sensor naively, while the other involves combining with the duty cycle. Both strategies achieve low energy consumption, but the one that combines with the duty cycle achieves lower energy consumption. By utilizing this sensor, mobile sensing research especially that samples data from location or motion sensors, will be able to achieve lower energy consumption."

Virtual assembling method is one of the developments of advanced manufacturing technology. It allows modern manufacturing industry to be able to assembly products using real-time hand gestur has been done in real manufacturing process with real physical appearance of the product. Along its development of the idea, some sub-methods are made as the intermediary of human-machine interaction. One of it is using flex sensors embedded on hand glove. Flex sensor is sensor that changes resistance according to the magnitude of bend done by the users. They convert the change in bend to electrical resistance ? the ore the bend, the more the resistance value. The objective of this project is to have further study regarding to the usage of flex sensors on motion glove from several aspects: calibration characterization, accuracy of various hand size, data acquisition method, and motion glove?s calibration method."

The decrease of spatial memory performance among the elderly affects the movement space of the elderly when engaging in activities at home. Spatial memory issues in the elderly can make it difficult for them to remember object locations. This thing can hinder the elderly when they want to arrange objects within a space. This is due to the increase in movement patterns that would expand the movement space for the elderly. The presence of PIR (Passive Infrared) Motion Sensor Technology, which can provide automatic control by sending command signals to various smart devices and household electronics, can facilitate the elderly in object arrangement tasks. PIR M otion Sensor can detect the presence of the elderly through the infrared radiation emitted by their bodies when they move. The automatic control feature of the PIR Motion Sensor eliminates the need for the elderly to rely on their spatial memory to reach objects for adjustment. Consequently, the movement space for the elderly becomes smaller since there is no need for additional movement patterns to reach the objects."

This study aims to investigate the effect of energy price changes on energy consumption, especially oil and coal, for Indonesian manufacturing sectors. Unbalanced panel data analysis is utilized on firm-level data from 2003 to 2015 to examine the price elasticity of oil and coal demand. The estimation indicates that Indonesia’s manufacturing sectors are sensitive to energy price. On the aggregate analysis, one percent oil price increase is significant to reduce the demand of 0.194 percent, while coal consumption is not significantly affected by its price. Coal regression illustrates different outcomes than oil estimation which shows a positive relationship between coal price and coal demand even though it is insignificant. This phenomenon can be possibly interpreted through several explanations: a small number of firms using coal, concentration of coal demand in a few sub-sectors, and meager price of coal relative to oil. For further understanding, sectoral analysis has been examined on five priority sub-sectors—food and beverage; textile, apparel and footwear; chemicals and pharmacy; electronics and optical device; and automotive and transport equipment. The sectoral evaluations suggest that price elasticity for oil demand is considered as inelastic, ranging from 0.184 to 0.387 in absolute value. Oil price changes have the most impact on textile, apparel, and footwear sub-sectors, while food and beverage is the most unaffected by oil shocks.
