"This book introduces concepts and technologies of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). It describes state of the art safety communication protocol called Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC), currently being considered for adoption by the USDOT and automotive industry in the US. However, the principles of this book are applicable even if the underlying physical layer protocol of V2X changes in the future, e.g. V2X changes from DSRC to cellular-based connectivity.
Fundamental ITS concepts include topics like global positioning system; Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle to Pedestrian (V2P), and Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) communications; human-machine interface; and security and privacy. Fundamental concepts are sometimes followed by the real-life test experimental results (such as in V2P Chapter) and description of the performance metrics used to evaluate the results. This book also describes equations and math used in the development of the individual parts of the system.
This book surveys current and previous publications for trending research in the ITS domain. It also covers state of the art standards that are in place for the DSRC in the US, starting from the application layer defined in SAE J2735 all the way to physical layer defined in IEEE 802.11.
The authors provide a detailed discussion on what is needed to extend the current standards to accommodate future needs of the vehicle communications, such as needs for future autonomous vehicles. Programs and code examples accompany appropriate chapters, for example, after describing remote vehicle target classification function a pseudo code and description is provided. In addition, the book discusses current topics of the technology such as spectrum sharing, simulation, security, and privacy.
The intended audience for this book includes engineering graduate students, automotive professionals/engineers, researchers and technology enthusiasts."

The topic of this work discusses urban traffic management using intelligent transportation system. The two fluid model is a macroscopic modeling technique which provides characteristics of the performance of traffic flow on an urban road network. The model does this by generating a relationship between trip time, stop time and running time per km. Here, we take SCBD (Sudirman Central Business District) Jakarta, Indonesia as a study area. The network was then modeled in scaner studio simulator. Data collected in 2008 and to predict the traffic volume in 2011, we use traffic growth index for Jakarta.
According to the work presented in this report, the use of IAV in urban environment can improve traffic management since it has shorter time than the use of conventional vehicle. With its ability to reconfigure itself if there is a fault, it has no impact with any other vehicle behind and congestion can be avoided. It means that if we compare parameters quality of traffic by using only IAV (n = 0.01 and Tm = 2.24) is better than using only conventional vehicles (n = 0.03 and Tm = 2.37). Average mean speed for IAV 13.61 km/h and for conventional vehicle 12.02 km/h, it means IAV can save more travel time than manual vehicle. Other benefit of using IAV is environmental friendly since it use electrical power and it can reduce pollution.

"This book gathers all papers presented at the third edition of the international conference Complex Systems Design & Management Asia (CSD&M Asia 2018), which was held at the National University of Singapore (NUS) on December 6-7, 2018.
Mastering complex systems requires an integrated understanding of industrial practices as well as sophisticated theoretical techniques and tools. This vision was the inspiration for creating an annual forum in the Asia-Pacific region dedicated to bringing together academic researchers & industrial actors working on architecture, modeling & engineering of complex technical & organizational systems.
These proceedings cover the latest trends in the emerging field of complex systems, both from an academic and a professional perspective. Special emphasis is placed on Smart Transportation.
The CSD&M Asia 2018 conference is organized under the guidance of CESAM Community which is managed by the non-profit organization CESAMES. The goal of CESAM Community is to structure the sharing of good practices in enterprise and systems architecture, and to certify the level of knowledge and proficiency in this field by means of CESAM certification."

"This book consists of two closely intertwined parts. The first, theoretical part defines the concept of an information system, followed by an explanation of action regulation as well as cognitive theories to describe man information system interaction. A comprehensive description of information ergonomics concludes the theoretical approach. In the second, practically oriented part of this book authors from industry as well as from academic institutes illustrate the variety of current information systems taken from different fields of transportation, i.e. aviation, automotive, and railroad. "This book presents research advances in intelligent transportation and smart cities in detail, mainly focusing on green traffic and urban utility tunnels, presented at the 4th International Symposium for Intelligent Transportation and Smart City (ITASC) held at Tongji University, Shanghai, on May 8-10, 2019. It discusses a number of hot topics, such as the 2BMW system (Bus, Bike, Metro and Walking), transportation safety and environmental protection, urban utility design and application, as well as the application of BIM (Building Information Modeling) in city design. By connecting the theory and applications of intelligent transportation in smart cities, it enhances traffic efficiency and quality. The book gathers numerous selected papers and lectures, including contributions from respected scholars and the latest engineering advances, to provide guidance to researchers in the field of transportation and urban planning at universities and in related industries.
The first conference in the ITASC series was held in 2013 as a workshop of the International Symposium on Autonomous Decentralized System (ISADS) in Mexico City. The second and third were held in May 2015 and May 2017, respectively, in Tongji University, Shanghai.

"This fundamental work explains in detail the driver assistance systems for active safety and driver assistance, considering both their structure and their function. These include the well-known standard systems such as Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) or Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). But it includes also new systems for protecting collisions protection, for changing the lane, or for convenient parking.
The book aims at giving a complete picture focusing on the entire system. First, it describes the components which are necessary for assistance systems, such as sensors, actuators, mechatronic subsystems, and control elements. Then, it explains key features for the user-friendly design of human-machine interfaces between driver and assistance system. Finally, important characteristic features of driver assistance systems for particular vehicles are presented: Systems for commercial vehicles and motorcycles."
