"This book presents the real challenges and experiences of managing an advanced semiconductor technology development and integration program – but using a novelized form. The material is presented in a conversational format through a story that follows a fictional narrator as she grows from an intern to a manager in a (fictional) chip company. The story describes the technology development program from management, engineering and human perspectives, and exposes not only the management and technical issues but also the typical work-life balance challenges experienced by engineers working in the technology industry. Use of a series of realistic and representative vignettes, supported by a set of illustrative cartoon-ish panels, presents the serious management topics in a light and readable way."

"IT has already had an impact on most organizations. In the 1990s new issues are emerging as new developments continue to propel us into a future in which IT will play an increasingly important part. Simultaneously more information is becoming readily available to everyone, the roles of professions are changing and the traditional boundaries between professionals are being broken down. PT Timah has recently completed several major implementation of modern information systems and is beginning to face some of the difficult issues which are arising as a result of the success of the project."

Joint Operation (JO) construction companies in Indonesia face challenges in technology transfer, mainly due to the gap between available technology and organizational capabilities. Knowledge management is a potential solution, yet its implementation remains limited. This research aims to formulate strategic steps for implementing knowledge management to address technology transfer in JO construction companies. Methods include literature review, a questionnaire survey of 15 respondents from the Jakarta MRT CP201 project, and data analysis using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), fuzzy sets, and Simple Additive Weighting/Scoring Method. Results indicate that key knowledge management processes in technology transfer are knowledge acquisition, utilization, and sharing. Influential sub-criteria for knowledge acquisition are clarity of roles and responsibilities (internal) and collaboration and partnership (external); for knowledge utilization, they are clarity of roles and responsibilities (internal) and uncertain market conditions (external); and for knowledge sharing, they are clarity of roles and responsibilities (internal) and collaboration and partnership (external). The SECI model by Nonaka & Takeuchi (Socialization, Externalization, Combination, Internalization) provides a strategic guide for enhancing knowledge management effectiveness."
