"This research study investigates the role of cross-cultural management in improving cultural diversity in US banks and how this could influence performance. Numerous research studies have linked cultural diversity to positive organizational performance. It would, therefore, be reasonable to assume that similar positive outcomes are likely if diversity is improved in the US banking sector. The research used information drawn from secondary sources. A qualitative approach was used in the analysis of the collected data. One of the most important findings from the evaluated secondary sources is that there is an overrepresentation of white Americans in most banks in the US. This implies that cultural diversity has not yet been achieved in the sector. As a result of this lack of diversity, the major banks in the US have not been able to take advantage of the minority community market. Despite their seemingly good financial performance, therefore, major US banks would perform even better if they got a section of the minority community market. The research goes ahead to reveal that the effective management of elements of culture such as power distance, individualism-collectivism, and uncertainty avoidance can be used to achieve positive outcomes if cultural diversity is achieved.

"Penggambaran visual dan modifikasi tokoh merupakan fitur-fitur yang dihadirkan dalam game di masa kini, termasuk game berbentuk novel visual Choices: Stories You Play. Kedua fitur ini memberikan kemungkinan bagi pembuat maupun pemain game untuk mengakomodasi identitas-identitas dunia nyata ke dalam dunia virtual lewat tokoh-tokohnya. Tesis ini menganalisis bagaimana keragaman identitas direpresentasikan oleh Choices. Melalui penelitian etnografis, riset ini mencari tahu bagaimana pemain memaknai fitur ini serta mengonstruksi identitas diri mereka sendiri di dalam game melalui dua modifikasi tokoh: tokoh utama (Main Character) dan pasangan tokoh utama (Love Interest). Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa Choices masih memperlihatkan kecenderungan untuk lebih menyukai tokoh dengan ras, etnis, fitur wajah, bentuk tubuh, gender, dan orientasi seksual tertentu. Di sisi lain, pemain yang ruang geraknya terbatasi oleh kecenderungan ini membagi bentuk konstruksi identitias diri mereka dalam game menjadi tiga: sebagai cerminan diri di kehidupan nyata, sebagai wadah eksplorasi dan eksperimentasi identitas, serta sebagai ruang membentuk kehidupan ideal. Penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa pada akhirnya representasi diversitas dalam media game tidak terlepas dari budaya produksi dan konsumsinya, yang mana kedua praktik tersebut masing-masing memberikan pemaknaan tersendiri terhadap berjalannya game.

Visual depictions and character modifications are features that are presented in today’s games, including games in the form of a visual novel called Choices: Stories You Play. These two features provide the possibility for gamers to accommodate their real-world identities into the virtual world through their characters. This research analyzes how the diversity of identities is represented by the characters in Choices. Through ethnographic method, this research discusses how players establish their own meaning and construct their own identity in the game through the modification of two characters: the Main Character (MC) and the Love Interest (LI). The results of the research conclude that Choices still shows the tendency to favor characters with a certain race, ethnicity, body shape, facial feature, gender, and sexual orientation. As a result of this limitation, the players construct their identity in the game in three ways: as a reflection of their real-life identity, as a media for exploration and experimentation of identity, and as a space to form an ideal life. In the end, the representation of diversity in game media is attached to the culture of production and consumption, in which each of the two practices gives their own meaning to the interpretation of the game."

"Penelitian ini membahas mengenai nilai-nilai budaya yang terlihat pada salah satu pekan raya di Jakarta, yaitu Pekan Raya Jakarta (PRJ), khususnya selama masa penyelenggaraannya di Lapangan Monas. Pasar malam dan pameran telah menjadi salah satu tempat hiburan yang diminati masyarakat di Jakarta. Pada masa kolonial tahun 1920-an, terdapat pasar malam di Batavia yang dikenal dengan nama Pasar Gambir. Seiring perkembangannya, jenis pasar malam yang serupa dengan Pasar Gambir dihidupkan kembali untuk masyarakat Jakarta. Acara tersebut adalah Pekan Raya Jakarta yang telah eksis sejak tahun 1968. PRJ mendapatkan antusiasme yang besar dari masyarakat sehingga dijadikan acara tahunan tetap. Walaupun dinamakan Pekan Raya Jakarta, PRJ tidak hanya menampilkan budaya Jakarta, akan tetapi kerap kali menampilkan keberagaman budaya Indonesia. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat apa saja keberagaman budaya Indonesia yang telah direpresentasikan oleh Pekan Raya Jakarta selama masa perayaannya di Lapangan Monas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah yang terdiri dari empat tahapan, yaitu heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, serta historiografi. Tahapan pertama yaitu heuristik didapatkan berbagai buku yang berkaitan dengan PRJ, surat kabar yang didapat dari Perpustakaan Nasional RI Salemba, dan berbagai artikel jurnal. Berdasarkan metode sejarah yang telah dilakukan, didapat hasil penelitian berupa adanya representasi keberagaman budaya Indonesia di PRJ yang dapat dilihat dari arsitektur kedaerahan pada paviliun, pertunjukkan tari daerah, lomba kedaerahan, serta makanan khas daerah yang dijual di PRJ.

This article explains the diversity of Indonesian cultural values represented at one of the fairs in Jakarta, that is Pekan Raya Jakarta (PRJ), especially during its celebration at Monas Square. Night markets and fairs have become popular entertainment venues for the people of Jakarta. During the colonial era in the 1920s, there was a night market in Batavia known as Pasar Gambir. Over time, a similar type of night market to Pasar Gambir was held again in Jakarta. The event is PRJ, which has been held since 1968. PRJ received great enthusiasm from the public and became an annual event. Although named the Pekan Raya Jakarta, PRJ not only showcases Jakarta’s culture but frequently displays the diversity of Indonesian culture. The purpose of this research is to identify the diversity of Indonesian culture represented by the PRJ during its celebration at Monas Square. This research uses historical research methods consisting of four stages: heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. In heuristics, obtained various books related to PRJ, newspapers from the National Library of Indonesia in Salemba, and various journal articles. Based on the historical methods applied, this article finds that PRJ represents the diversity of Indonesian culture which can be seen from regional architecture in pavilions, traditional dance performance, regional competitions, and regional foods sold at PRJ."

"Research related to the diversity and conflict in Indonesia to date concludes that ethnic fractionalization, as an indicator of diversity, is positively related to the level of conflict. However, this research has not included other indicators of diversity, namely ethnic polarization, which is considered better than ethnic fractionalization in explaining conflicts, especially identity conflicts. Using the National Violence Monitoring System (NVMS) data along with 2000 and 2010 Indonesia Census data, this study found that ethnic polarization and religious fractionalization contribute to the increase of identity conflict in Indonesia. Otherwise, there is no statistical proof that validates the positive relationship between ethnic fractionalization and the identity conflict in general. Furthermore, this study also shows that the degree of heterogeneity at district level significantly reduces some aspects of social outcomes, such as trust to non co ethnics, solidarity, participation in community, and perceived safety which act as a channel through which diversity affect identity conflict.

Penelitian terkait dengan keberagaman dan konflik di Indonesia hingga saat ini menyimpulkan apabila fraksionalisasi etnik, sebagai indikator dari keberagaman, berhubungan positif dengan tingkat konflik. Namun, penelitian tersebut belum memasukkan indikator lain dari keberagaman, yaitu polarisasi etnik, yang dianggap lebih baik daripada fraksionalisasi etnik di dalam menjelaskan konflik, khususnya konflik identitas. Dengan menggunakan data dari Sistem Nasional Pemantauan Kekerasan dan data keberagaman dari Sensus Penduduk tahun 2000 dan 2010, ditemukan apabila polarisasi etnik dan fraksionalisasi agama, berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan konflik identitas. Sebaliknya, tidak ditemukan bukti statistik yang dapat menjelaskan hubungan antara fraksionalisasi etnik dan konflik identitas secara umum. Selain itu, studi ini juga menemukan apabila tingkat keberagaman di suatu wilayah, berpengaruh negatif terhadap beberapa keluaran modal sosial seperti kepercayaan antar-etnis, solidaritas, partisipasi di komunitas, dan perasaan aman, yang berperan sebagai saluran yang menghubungkan keberagaman dengan konflik identitas."

"Sebagai dampak globalisasi, isu keragaman budaya memengaruhi berbagai aspek dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat saat ini, khususnya dalam kesusastraan. Sapardi Djoko Damono membawa topik tersebut ke novelnya berjudul Segi Tiga. Penelitian ini berfokus kepada isu keragaman budaya yang ditampilkan pada Segi Tiga. Permasalahan yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini adalah keragaman budaya dan konflik yang timbul akibat keragaman tersebut dalam cerita. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk menjelaskan: (1) penggambaran keragaman budaya dalam novel dan (2) konflik yang disebabkan oleh keragaman budaya dalam novel. Hasil penelitian ini adalah terdapat representasi keragaman budaya yang ditampilkan oleh tokoh-tokoh dalam novel Segi Tiga, terutama pada tokoh Suryo dan Noriko. Suryo dihadapkan pada nilai-nilai kepriayian yang dibawa oleh keluarganya, tetapi kemudian dibentur oleh budaya modern setelah ia tinggal bersama keluarga Tia di Jakarta. Sementara itu, Noriko memiliki keterikatan pada budaya Jawa sebagai budaya yang dipelajari selama ia menetap di Solo dan Jepang sebagai budaya tanah kelahirannya. Keragaman budaya tersebut dapat menyebabkan beberapa konflik dalam cerita, yaitu selisih paham yang terjadi pada keluarga Suryo dalam menanggapi dampak internet dan krisis identitas yang dialami oleh Noriko.

As a result of globalization, the issue of cultural diversity affects various aspects of today's social life, especially in literature. Sapardi Djoko Damono brings this topic to his novel titled Segi Tiga (Triangle). This research focuses on the issue of cultural diversity presented in Segi Tiga. The problems discussed in this study are cultural diversity and the conflicts that arise as a result of this diversity in the story. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach which aims to explain: (1) the depiction of cultural diversity in the novel and (2) the conflict caused by cultural diversity in the novel. The results of this study are that there are representations of cultural diversity displayed by the characters in the novel Segi Tiga, especially in the characters Suryo and Noriko. Suryo was confronted with the values ​​of the nobility brought up by his family, but then collided with modern culture after he lived with Tia's family in Jakarta. Meanwhile, Noriko has an attachment to Javanese culture as a culture that she learned during her stay in Solo and Japan as the culture of her homeland. This cultural diversity can cause several conflicts in the story, namely differences in understanding that occur in the Suryo family in response to the impact of the internet and Noriko's identity crisis."
