"Teknik control chart telah digunakan secara luas dalam bidang industri untuk memantau proses produksi dalam rangka peningkatan kualitas. Metode yang masih digunakan untuk mendeteksi adanya sebab terusut adalah metode Shewart. Control chart yang biasa digunakan adalah bagan kendali X untuk memantau pusat proses dan bagan kendali S atau R untuk memantau variabilitas proses. Chart gabungan dirancang agar dapat memantau mean dan standar deviasi proses secara bersamaan. Dalam skripsi ini metode yang digunakan untuk merancang chart gabungan adalah metode Max Chart. Metode ini menggunakan fungsi maksimum untuk dua statistik.
