"ABSTRAKThis research examines Chief Executive Officer (CEO) turnover and market reaction in Indonesia. The sample of this research consists of 213 CEO turnover announcements for Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2000?2010 period. T-tests were used to investigate the effect of CEO turnover announcement on abnormal stock return during the event windows periods. The results of this research show that there is positive reaction on the CEO turnover announcements. This research considers both routine and non routine CEO turnover processes. This research finds that both turnover processes have information content to investor. This research also finds positive reaction on the announcements of outsider incoming CEO, while investors do not react on the announcement of insider incoming CEO. Thus, this research provides evidence that CEO turnover announcement have informationcontent."

Berdasarkan penelitian, tokoh Hong Liang menjadi pemicu konflik karena dirinya tidak menerapkan asas-asas Siang Hwee dan Sariket Dagang Pertengahan sebagai perkumpulan dagang etnis Tionghoa. Hong Liang mengembangkan bisnis secara independen dan memanfaatkan berbagai cara untuk menguasai sektor ekonomi dan mengeruk laba sebesar-besarnya. Liem Khing Hoo sebagai pengarang cerita Masyarakat mencirikan minoritas Tionghoa melalui sebuah kisah yang merupakan cermin realitas kehidupan pada abad ke-20.

ABSTRACTThis thesis discusses capitalism system from a Chinese entrepreneur in trading activity that had dominated the economy aspect in Indonesia. According to the research, Hong Liang became the conflict trigger because he could not assign Siang Hwee and Sariket Dagang Pertengahan rsquo s principles to associate with Chinese commerce. Hong Liang developed a business independently and didsome ways to conquer economy aspect in Indonesia and get the highest profit. As the story teller, Liem Khing Hoo characterizes the minority of Chinese by a story that reflects the society in 20th century. "

"Tesis ini membongkar bagaimana kekuasaan bekerja membentuk diskursus arus utama novel-novel Indonesia hari ini. Melalui Foucauldiandiscourse analysis, ditelusuri asal-usul terbentuknya diskursus dominan dalam tiga genre novel: novel islami, percintaan, dan perlawanan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kapitalisme bersama-sama dengan negara menjadi aktor utama pembentuk diskursus utama.Novel islami yang pada awalnya otonom, pada akhirnya pun harus tunduk dan berkompromi dengan kepentingan kapitalisme dan negara demi tetap mendapat ruang dalam wacana arus utama. Sumbangan utama tesis ini adalah membuka diskusi kritis terhadap diskursus kesusastraan Indonesia seraya memberi pemahaman bahwa ruang perlawanan senantiasa terbuka, baik terhadap wacana kesusastraan itu sendiri maupun terhadap kekuasaan pada umumnya.

This thesis aims to find out and explain how power works to form Indonesia's existing novels currently become the main/ruling discourses within the society.Using Foucauldian Discourse Analysis, the thesis seek to find the origins of the formation of dominant discourse in three novel genres: Islamic, romance and critical/debunking novels. The research finds that capitalism together with the state become the two main factors behind the creation of such main discourses.

Islamic novels which were autonomous at the initial stage later fell into the trap of capitalism and compromised itself and were cooptated to serve the interest of capitalists, markets and the state in an attempt to stay in the main discourse. The Islamic novels even form a coalition with the two actors in one ultimate goal of creating the main discourse which is seen beneficial for all of them. The main contribution of this thesis is allowing and opening critical discussion on main discourses in Indonesian literature while providing an insight and understanding that there will always be room of resistance and being critical against ruling discourses within te country's literature as well as against power in general."

"Kapitalisme global, yang lahir dari proses globalisasi, menciptakan budaya konsumsi dan masyarakat konsumen yang eksistensinya dilihat hanya dengan pembedaan komoditi yang dikonsumsi, dengan terus menerus mengkonsumsi berbagai tanda dan status sosial di balik komoditi. Kapitalisme global dalam dirinya sendiri mempunyai daya kemajuan yang bisa mempermudah dan membantu manusia dalam menjalankan aktivitas hidupnya. Namun kemajuan yang sama bisa membawa dunia dalam perubahan yang semakin sulit untuk dikendalikan oleh manusia. Semangat kemajuan yang melekat dalam diri kapitalisme global mempunyai kecenderungan untuk membawa dunia dalam situasi yang penuh dengan ketidakpastian, penuh dengan ketimpangan dan hegemoni. Tulisan ini ingin menelusuri fenomena kapitalisme global ini, mulai dari hal-hal positif yang dihasilkannya sampai pada dampak-dampaknya bagi perubahan kehidupan manusia sebagai masyarakat konsumen.

Global capitalism, which is born in the globalization process, has created consumption culture and consumer society whose existence is seen just in the differences of their consumption commodities, and on and on consumes the signs and social status that marked on the commodities. In itself, global capitalism has the progressive-power which can help us in our daily live. However, the same progressiveness could bring the world in the unrecoverable and uncontrollable progressiveness.
