"This book addresses the concepts of unstable flow solutions, convective instability and absolute instability, with reference to simple (or toy) mathematical models, which are mathematically simple despite their purely abstract character. Within this paradigm, the book introduces the basic mathematical tools, Fourier transform, normal modes, wavepackets and their dynamics, before reviewing the fundamental ideas behind the mathematical modelling of fluid flow and heat transfer in porous media.
The author goes on to discuss the fundamentals of the Rayleigh-Benard instability and other thermal instabilities of convective flows in porous media, and then analyses various examples of transition from convective to absolute instability in detail, with an emphasis on the formulation, deduction of the dispersion relation and study of the numerical data regarding the threshold of absolute instability. The clear descriptions of the analytical and numerical methods needed to obtain these parametric threshold data enable readers to apply them in different or more general cases."

"Starting from fundamentals of classical stability theory, an overview is given of the transition phenomena in subsonic, wall-bounded shear flows. At first, the consideration focuses on elementary small-amplitude velocity perturbations of laminar shear layers, i.e. instability waves, in the simplest canonical configurations of a plane channel flow and a flat-plate boundary layer. Then the linear stability problem is expanded to include the effects of pressure gradients, flow curvature, boundary-layer separation, wall compliance, etc. related to applications. Beyond the amplification of instability waves is the non-modal growth of local stationary and non-stationary shear flow perturbations which are discussed as well. The volume continues with the key aspect of the transition process, that is, receptivity of convectively unstable shear layers to external perturbations, summarizing main paths of the excitation of laminar flow disturbances. The remainder of the book addresses the instability phenomena found at late stages of transition. These include secondary instabilities and nonlinear features of boundary-layer perturbations that lead to the final breakdown to turbulence. Thus, the reader is provided with a step-by-step approach that covers the milestones and recent advances in the laminar-turbulent transition. Special aspects of instability and transition are discussed through the book and are intended for research scientists, while the main target of the book is the student in the fundamentals of fluid mechanics. Computational guides, recommended exercises, and PowerPoint multimedia notes based on results of real scientific experiments supplement the monograph. These are especially helpful for the neophyte to obtain a solid foundation in hydrodynamic stability."

This paper investigates the findings on testing hydraulic properties of stone wool to see its performance as a filter media by using a new experimental setup. The setup will be designed so that the hydraulic heads and length of the filter can be varied in order to observe the flow rate produced by this method, and then hydraulic conductivity will be calculated. There were two lengths of stone wool filter media used, 9.6 cm and 16 cm, and the hydraulic heads varied from 117 cm to 74 cm to 44 cm. The results demonstrate that the hydraulic conductivity is greater on the longer section and, in general, with higher hydraulic head, with findings ranging from 0.216 cm/s to 0.408 cm/s. These results may be due to the inconsistent flow rates observed during the experiment, which led to the creation of outliers. However, these results have made it clear which types of stone wool have the greatest potential as filter media. More information will be provided in this report."

"The book presents novel Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques to compute offshore wind and tidal applications. The papers in this volume are based on a mini-symposium held at ECCOMAS 2018. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques are regarded as the main design tool to explore the new engineering challenges presented by offshore wind and tidal turbines for energy generation.
The difficulty and costs of undertaking experimental tests in offshore environments have increased the interest in CFD which is used to design appropriate turbines and blades, understand fluid flow physical phenomena associated with offshore environments, predict power production or characterise offshore environments amongst other topics."

"This book is based on results obtained over a decade of study and research. It questions the use of dynamic molecular models in the continuum scale providing alternative solutions to open problems in the literature. It provides a physical-mathematical understanding of the differential equations that govern fluid flow and energy transport, serving as a reference to the application of smoothed particle hydrodynamics in continuum fluid mechanics and transport phenomena. This book presents the physical-mathematical modelling of the SPH method and provides examples of applications in continuum mechanics with numerical results and discussions. It defends concepts of continuum mechanics and the application of boundary treatment techniques that do not violate the laws of physics."

Hydraulic system is one that is widely used in industry, in a mutually sustainable industry between one and the other time is that the main focus. In this study conducted a comparative study between the time and expense incurred by a hydraulic system to determine the effect both of them, in the end the data that obtained its expected can be utilized for the development of industry in Indonesia."
