"ABSTRAKThis paper analyzes the change in distance elasticity of trade using bilateral trade data among China and Indonesia and their main trading partners. The empirical method used in this study derived from the gravity model that considers the effect of distance on trade activities behavior. Two causes of change in the elasticity of trade to distance will be exposed, i.e., the distance sensitivity effect (within industries) and the compositional effect (among industries). Specifically, this study would like to prove whether the distance sensitivity effect is more dominant than the compositional effect in explaining the change in distance elasticity of trade. By using four sub-periods and around two hundred industries involved, the result shows that the increase in the role of distance in trade heavily caused by the escalation of distance sensitivity effect in most industries."

"ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganilisis dampak asimetris perubahan harga minyak terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi dan inflasi di Indonesia menggunakan model vector autoregression (VAR) untuk periode dari tahun 1990 kuartal I sampai dengan tahun 2016 kuartal IV. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh perubahan harga minyak terhadap produk domestik bruot (PDB) adalah asimetris, yaitu penurunan harga minyak secara signifikan menurunkan PDB, sedangkan kenaikan harga minyak tidak secara signifikan mempengaruhi PDB. Upaya untuk menurunkan ketergantungan terhadap minyak dibutuhkan oleh Indonesia, khususnya penurunan kontribusi minyak sebagai sumber pendapatan negara, serta dengan meningkatkan penggunaan energi terbarukan. Sementara itu, perubahan harga minyak, baik penurunan maupun kenaikan harga minyak, tidak mempengaruhi inflasi secara signifikan. Tidak terdapatnya pengaruh perubahan harga minyak terhadap inflasi disebabkan oleh adanya kebijakan subsidi bahan bakar minyak di Indonesia."

"ABSTRACTStarbucks sebagai korporasi global yang mencerminkan nilai-nilai Amerika berperan penting dalam perdagangan industri kopi. Mulai Februari 2000 Starbucks secara resmi mengadopsi Fair Trade dan pada awal 2001 secara sepenuhnya Starbucks mengadopsi Fair Trade.Penelitian ini berupaya untuk mengkaji kembali hubungan antara Starbucks sebagai lambang globalisasi dengan starbucks sebagai korporasi global yang mengadopsi Fair Trade. Penulisan ini juga berupaya menjelaskan bagaimana praktik Fair Trade Starbuck secara keseluruhan dan mengungkap alasan-alasan dibalik Starbucks mengadopsi Fair Trade. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus dengan menggunakan sumber sumber referensi primer dan sekunder baik berupa buku maupun jurnal. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Starbucks memiliki alasan-alasan kuat yang pada akhirnya membuat perusahaan ini mengadopsi Fair Trade. Proses adopsi Fair Trade yang dikenal dengan istilah CAFE Practices ini ternyata tidak luput dari kritik para pemerhati Fair Trade. "

"Comparing the economic development in China and India has been interesting. While one has experienced an impressive economic growth performance, the other seemed to take a slower path. One popular argument says that the answer lies on China's success on attracting foreign capital. This argument is supported by some stylized facts related to the explanation for a country's attractiveness for foreign capital.The main idea of this essay is that China's relative success over India is a result of its unique characteristics. The purpose of this essay is to deliver supporting arguments for such hypothesis by analyzing the stylized facts. The readers should note that the scope of this essay is the internal determinants of the relatively different speeds of reforms, rather than the policy analysis.The essay is presented in three parts. The first part reviews the identical conditions which both countries shared in the beginning. The second part shows the different success stories. The third part is the comparison of some unique conditions which influenced the different outcomes of development. "

"The impacts of exchange rate to an economy both domestically and internationally are an interesting discussion. One of the examples for discussion is exchange rate pass-through (ERPT). ERPT is defined as the rate of change of prices (domestic, imported or exported) as a result of change in exchange rate. Consumer price index (CPI) is one of the most frequent indicators used for measuring domestic price. This paper analyzes the impacts of exchange rate change (ERPT) to seven group of CPI in Indonesia. The Cholesky Decomposition is employed to identify structural shock of Structural Vector Autoregression (SVAR) which then combined with Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) for 48 time series units. The result shows that for the entire period there is an incomplete pass-through for the seven group of CPI. The largest effect occurs in the transportation and communication sector and food and beverages sector in which 35 percent of their changes in CPI are affected by change in exchange rate."

"ABSTRAKThe rising importance of the Indo-Pacific to the world's politics, economic and security accompanied with the significant rise of China's economy and military power in the region has shifted the U.S. military focus from the Middle-East to the Indo-Pacific region. In 2011, Obama announced its grand policy called "Rebalance to Asia" as a respond to the rise of China and was manifested as a counterbalancing efforts. In doing so, the U.S. intended to increase its military presence through enhanced military alliance with its allies in the region. Australia is the US staunchest ally in the region under the alliance of ANZUS Treaty. Besides, the two countries also shared converging national interests and threat perceptions towards China's growing military power and assertive in the region. This article discussed the U.S-Australia military alliance as a support to the U.S. Rebalance Strategy in counterbalancing China's rise in the Indo-Pacific region. The enhanced military alliance indicated that the US will remain engage in region. In addition, the research is constructed by using the concept of balance of power and military alliance through qualitative research method."

"Abstract. This research empirically examines whether a country's anti dumping policy can distort export of another country to third markets. This research tries to explore about trade deflection of Indonesia's export on Synthetic Staple Fibre Polyester (PSF) HS 550320 to non-European Union as the result of European Union's (EU) anti dumping policy on Indonesia. This research uses panel data model (fixed effects) and 20 countries (non-European Union) of Indonesia's PSF export during ten years (1996-2005). We find evidence that trade deflection for Indonesia's export on Synthetic Staple Fibre Polyester (PSF) HS 550320 occurred. Because of European Union had imposed anti dumping duty on Indonesia, Indonesia's export to nonEuropean Union had increased ranged from 25 percent to 44 percent. This result shows that dumping duty from European Union does not fully carry out negative effect for Indonesia, furthermore thisphenomena can be used as ?early warning? for Indonesia both for case of Indonesia as exporting country or third countries."

"Pengenalan sistem zonasi ke dalam ruang politik Nigeria adalah untuk membantu kelancaran rotasi politik utama di seluruh negeri. Kebijakan ini untuk mewujudkan keadlian, perdamaian dan pemerataan sumber daya. Efek buruknya terhadap ekonomi adalah sesuatu yang perlu dikhawatirkan. Oleh karena itu, studi ini meneliti pengaruh sistem zonasi demokratis terhadap ekonomi NIgeria, dengan referensi khusus ke negara bagian Niger. Mempekerjakan statistik deskriptif dan regresi berganda. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa unsur-unsur zonasi demokratis vis-a-vis; perdamaian, keadilan, persatuan dan keadilan memilki dampak positif dan signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi Nigeria. Oleh karena itu penulis merekomendasikan kepada pemerintah di kedua tingkat tersebut untuk fokus pada penyediaan proyek pembangunan simultan untuk membuka jalan bagi perdamaian dan kesatuan, sistem zonasi harus dimasukkan ke dalam konstitusi Nigeria, distribusi sumber daya yang tidak bias dan merata di seluruh ekonomi."
