"This study is an attempt to address the issue of how Extensive Reading (ER) as a supplementary reading approach is able to encourage students critical literacy. Further how ER influences students perception of critical literacy related to students viewpoint of the texts is examined throughly. ER in this study was employed as a supplementary reading activity where students ere engaged to read in a large number of materials on a wide range of topics and they had freedom to select the reading material based on its relevance to their interests, knowledge, and experience (Day & Bamford, 2002). Relating the characteristics of ER, it seemed to us that students understanding of the text through ER activity should be scrutinized as one important aspect in English language teaching (ELT). in order to get more comprehensive picture, questionnaires were distributed to 38 students in the class. Yet, only 3 (three) students were willing to return the questionnaire and to be interviewed based on their answers in the quasionnaire. The findings revealed that ER is evidenced to motivate students to approach texts critically, challenge taken knowledge, relate the text to world's issues, improve their awareness of how to see and understand human beings, and question the intention of the texts from distinct viewpoints."

"Penelitian ini membahas tentang peran akun Instagram @katakecilkana dalam menumbuhkan keterampilan literasi informasi pada orang tua anak usia dini. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengidentifikasi peran akun Instagram @katakecilkana dalam menumbuhkan keterampilan literasi informasi pada orang tua anak usia dini. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam dengan informan dan observasi aktivitas akun Instagram @katakecilkana. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa akun Instagram @katakecilkana berperan dalam menumbuhkan keterampilan literasi informasi pada orang tua anak usia dini. Hal ini didukung dengan adanya konten infografis yang diunggah pada akun Instagram @katakecilkana dapat menumbuhkan keterampilan literasi informasi pada orang tua anak usia dini. Selain konten infografis, konten mendongeng juga mendukung peran akun Instagram @katakecilkana dalam menumbuhkan keterampilan literasi informasi pada orang tua anak usia dini.

This research discusses the role of the @katakecilkana Instagram account in growing information literacy skills in parents with young children. The purpose of this study is to identify the role of the @katakecilkana Instagram account in improving information literacy skills in parents with young children. This research was conducted through qualitative research using the case study method. Data was collected by doing an in-depth interview with informants and by observing the activity of the @katakecikana Instagram account. Results showed that the @katakecilkana Instagram account played a role in growing information literacy skills in parents with young children. This finding is supported by the infographic content on the @katakecilkana Instagram account which was able to improve information literacy skills in parents with young children. In addition to infographic content, storytelling content also supports the role of the @katakecilkana Instagram account in improving information literacy skills in parents with young children."

"Skripsi ini membahas tentang literasi informasi mahasiswa internasional pada Program BIPA di Fakultas Ilmu Pengetahuan Budaya Universitas Indonesia. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian studi kasus dengan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif. Informan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 6 orang mahasiswa BIPA yang dipilih dengan metode random sampling untuk diwawancara dengan pertanyaan yang merujuk pada teori literasi informasi Big6 yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menganalisis kemampuan literasi informasi informan dengan 6 tahap Big6 yaitu, definisitugas, strategi penelusuran informasi, lokasi dan akses, penggunaan informasi, sintesis, serta evaluasi. Penelitian ini menunjukkan hasil bahwa mahasiswa internasional program BIPA di FIB UI melakukan tahapan literasi informasi tanpa mereka sadari untuk memenuhi kebutuhan informasi yang timbul dari luar perkuliahan yaitu, kebutuhan informasi dasar, informasi tentang pekerjaan masing-masing, informasi tentang perbedaan bahasa kosakata dan informasi tentang hobi masing-masing informan. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan literasi informasi setiap mahasiswa BIPA yang dipengaruhi oleh kemampuan Bahasa Indonesia informan, latar belakang kemampuan/pengalaman Bahasa Indonesia informan sebelum tinggal di Indonesia sebelum menjadi mahasiswa BIPA, dan lama tinggal di Indonesia.

This research aims to analyze information literacy skill of Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing BIPA students at Universitas Indonesia in accordance with their foreign language learning need, Bahasa. Einsberg 2004 asserted that information literacy skill is important in foreign language learning. This can be seen from the purpose of foreign language learning comprising of communication, culture, relation, comparison and community which increases the need of information literacy learning to overcome the problems concerning the learning. In order to support the need, the collaboration between information literacy and the use of Bahasa by BIPA students is necessary. Lecture curricula for foreign students would be more up to date if it is adjusted to information need of the students. BIPA students are foreign students who study Indonesian language as their foreign language or it can be called as Indonesian as Foreign Language IFL. Information literacy skill of BIPA students will be analyzed using Big6, consisting of problem defining stage, information finding strategy, location and access, information use, synthesis and evaluation. This research is using qualitative approach with case study method. Data for this research is collected through interviews, observation and literature study. Research informants were 6 six people selected using random sampling. They consisted of two students from South Korea and one student from Slovakia, Japan, Netherland and Vietnam. Most existing researches discuss English as foreign language second language EFL ESL, but no research on information literacy related to Indonesian as foreign language second language. Therefore, this research is going to fill the gap between the previously conducted researches on information literacy related to language skill."

Dengan teknologi baru yang digunakan oleh khalayak massa, kompetensi pengguna dalam memanfaatkan media digital menjadi harus diamati dengan sangat hati-hatiLiterasi digital atau pengetahuan digital tidak lagi hanya sebuah prinsip, tetapi juga menjadi ilmu yang berperan dominan dalam membentuk pengetahuan pengguna Internet dalam mengumpulkan informasi secara online. Ketika Web 2.0 diperkenalkan, pengguna Internet memiliki kebebasan mengeksplorasi dan berkolaborasi dalam hal-hal yang tersebar di dalam Internet. Sumber berita yang ditemukan pada dasarnya menjadi tersedia di mana-mana dalam jaringan, dari mulai penerbit berita resmi sampai salah satu fitur Web 2.0, media sosial.Dengan mengetahui bahwa orang remaja adalah jumlah pengguna media sosial terbesar, pentingnya memahami literasi digital menjadi sangat mendesak bagi masyarakat. Dengan metode penelitian kualitatif, jurnal ini akan memeriksa tingkat literasi digital dengan mengamati dan melakukan penyelidikan mendalam terhadap perilaku media sosial remaja ketika mengumpulkan informasi secara online. Tujuan jurnal ini adalah mengevaluasi tahap kerangka melek digital seperti yang diperkenalkan oleh Renee Hobbs yang umum ditemukan pada remaja, khususnya mahasiswa sarjana.

ABSTRACTTechnology has succeeded to change people behaviour and construct their way of thinking in everyday life. Due to rapid technology advances, people have migrated from conventional media to a more contemporary media that is often known as the digital media. With a new technology being used by mass audience, user 39 s competence in utilizing digital media should be observed carefully.Digital literacy is no longer just a principle, but it 39 s a science that play dominant part in shaping user 39 s knowledge in gathering online information. When the Web 2.0 was introduced, Internet user has the freedom to explore and collaborate to things that is shared through the Internet. News resources are found basically everywhere within the network, from the official news publisher, to Web 2.0 most visited feature called the social media.Knowing that young adults have prevailed the number of social media users, the importance in understanding digital literacy becomes very urgent for society. Using qualitative research method, this journal will examine the level of digital literacy by observing and seeking an in depth investigation towards young adults social media behaviour when gathering online information. The purpose of this journal is to evaluate which stages of digital literacy framework as introduced by Renee Hobbs that is commonly found in young adults. "
