Dengan menganalisis beberapa adegan yang terdapat karakter perempuan dan terdapat konsep objektifikasi di dalamnya, dan memakai teori ldquo;Male gaze rdquo; Laura Mulvey dan teori penggambaran perempuan di media massa oleh Gaye Tuchman, artikel ini bertujuan untuk membahas bentuk dari objektifikasi perempuan dan posisi mereka yang ditampilkan di film ini. Artikel ini mengungkapkan bahwa mise-en-scene dari beberapa adegan di film ini dan karakterisasi dari karakter perempuan tertentu di film ini mengindikasikan penggambaran perempuan sebagai objek yang tidak berdaya.

Women in American film are still very much underrepresented. This includes in Catch Me If You Can 2002 movie that features a concept of women objectification. Through analyzing particular scenes that involve the and affirms the objectification concept, and using Laura Mulvey rsquo;s framework of ldquo;male gaze rdquo; and Gaye Tuchman rsquo;s ldquo;women depiction by mass media, rdquo; this article aims to examine the form of women objectification and their position portrayed in this movie. This article reveals that the mise-en-scene of selected scenes and the characterization of particular female characters in the movie indicate the portrayal of women as powerless objects."

"American Hustle 2013 merupakan film Hollywood yang mana plot dan karakternya secara umum dibuat berdasarkan pada peristiwa operasi ABSCAM yang dilakukan oleh FBI di akhir tahun 1970. Akan tetapi, terdapat beberapa perubahan dalam penggambaran tokoh Sydney Prosser dan perannya di dalam film ini yang justru menghasilkan penggambaran Sydney Prosser versi modern yang mana sangat berbeda dari karakter tokoh dalam peristiwa sebenarnya. Oleh karena itu, makalah ini mencoba untuk membahas bagaimana penggambaran modern tokoh Sydney Prosser dan interaksinya dengan para tokoh utama pria yang justru menunjukkan adanya bias patriarki pada akhirnya menciptakan ambivalensi terhadap representasi perempuan dalam film ini dengan menggunakan pendekatan analisis kritis dan tekstual dalam kaitannya dengan teori representasi gender dan patriarki.

Therefore, this paper attempts to discover how Sydney Prosser's image and her interactions with the male protagonists imply patriarchal biases which actually create ambivalences toward women's representation by using critical and textual analysis and the framework of gender representation and patriarchy. Film ini mengkisahkan sekelompok perempuan Islam dan Kristen di sebuah desa terpencil dan terisolasi di Lebanon yang bekerjasama untuk menjaga orang-orang di desa mereka dari pertengkaran antara dua agama yang berbeda. Pertengkaran tersebut di latarbelakangi oleh Perang Sipil yang sedang terjadi di kota sekitar desa tersebut. Para laki-laki dalam film ini merupakan sosok orang-orang yang emosional dan mudah terprovokasi yang dapat memicu perkelahian serta tidak dapat berpikir secara jernih. Dalam film ini, para perempuan dihadirkan sebagai sosok orang-orang yang memiliki berbagai macam ide demi membuat para laki-laki di desa mereka berdamai. Et Maintenant On Va O ? is a Lebanese film directed by a Lebanese woman director named Nadine Labaki. The film tells about a group of Muslim and Christian women in an isolated village in Lebanon who work together to keep people in their village from quarrels between two different religions. The fight was motivated by the ongoing Civil War in the town around the village. The men in this film are emotional, and can rsquo;t think clearly. They got easily provoked which can trigger fights. In this film, the women are presented as a figure of people who have various ideas to make the men in their village reconcile. The women in this film build solidarity in carrying out their efforts. They also sacrificed much to make the men in their village reconcile, although in the end the women had to exchange religions with each other to keep the peace in their village."

"Artikel ini membahas tentang heroisme dalam film Les Femmes de L rsquo;Ombre yang diadaptasi dari kisah nyata tentang tokoh-tokoh perempuan yang ikut berperan dalam Perang Dunia II dengan tergabung dalam organisasi spionase Special Operations Executive SOE. Penelitian kualitatif ini dianalisis melalui aspek naratif dan sinematografis film dengan menggunakan teori Boggs dan Petrie 2011. Sementara itu, artikel ini menggunakan konsep heroisme oleh Taha 2002. Hasil analisis menentukan status hero pada tokoh-tokoh yang meliputi status hero, semi-hero dan anti-hero yang dilihat melalui motivasi, tekad, kemampuan, perjuangan serta keberhasilan tokoh dalam menyelesaikan misi utama.

This article focuses on analyzing the heroism of female characters in a movie titled Les Femmes de L rsquo;Ombre by Jean Paul Salom which is based on true story. This movie depicts how women struggled against German durning World War II by joining espionage organization called Special Operations Executive SOE. This research is a qualitative research and analyzed through narrative and cinematrography aspect from Boggs and Petrie 2011. Meanwhile, the values of heroism in this movie is reviewed by using heroism concept by Taha 2002. The result of this research distinguishes the three conceptions of heroism, namely hero, semi-hero, and anti-hero as seen through each character rsquo;s motivation, will, ability, execution, and outcome."

"ABSTRAKArtikel ini meneliti perkembangan agensi perempuan dari tokoh utama perempuan pada film Joy dan Selena yang berhubungan dengan perkembangan moral mereka yang pada akhirnya berkrontribusi pada tingkat agensi yang mereka miliki. Tujuan dari artikel ini adalah untuk menemukan tipe perkembangan dan perubahan agensi dan moral seperti apa yang harus mereka alami sehingga mereka dapat memiliki agensi yang seutuhnya. Selain itu, artikel ini juga dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui apakah kedua tokoh wanita tersebut memiliki tingkat agensi yang sama. Melalui analisis percakapan dari kedua film, artikel ini akan menunjukkan kuat dan lemahnya agensi dari tiap karakter di saat mereka menghadapi cobaan hidup. Untuk itu tahap-tahap kehidupan kedua tokoh tersebut, masa kanak-kanak dan saat mereka dewasa dibahas. Karena memiliki latar belakang dan kondisi keluarga yang sangat berbeda, Joy dan Selena harus menghadapi tekanan-tekanan hidup yang berbeda pula. Ketika dihadapkan dengan masalah, dua tahap perkembangan moral pada diri tiap karakterlah yang mempengaruhi cara mereka mengambil keputusan. Hal ini memiliki efek yang berbeda pada kualitas agensi mereka walaupun pada akhir cerita hidup mereka, mereka sama-sama menjadi wanita yang sukses meraih mimpi.

ABSTRACTThis article examines the development of female agency related to the stages of moral development happening in the main female characters of Joy 2015 and Selena 1997 , which later is contributed to their level of agency. It aims at finding out what kind of change in the agency and moral development of each characters that they have to experience in order to have their full agency, and whether the agency are of the same level or not. Through a conversation analysis from the two films, this article will show the highs and lows of the characters rsquo; agency as they face obstacles in their life. In an effort to identify this, the research is focusing on Joy rsquo;s and Selena rsquo;s stages of life: childhood and adulthood. Coming from a completely different family background and condition, Joy and Selena must face different suppressions in their life. At this point, the two stages of moral development from each characters influence the way they solve the problems. This means it can affect their agency rsquo;s quality differently even though in the end, both can successfully reach their dreams."

"[ABSTRAKKemunculan karakter perempuan sebagai seorang pahlawan dalam film-film masa kini tidak dapat diabaikan. Kehadiran pahlawan perempuan mulai menjadi penting seperti pahlawan laki-laki pada umumnya. Pentingnya keberadaan pahlawan perempuan, terutama dalam film mengenai abad pertengahan dan film fantasi, membuat beberapa peneliti melakukan beberapa penelitian untuk menganalisa hal ini. Untuk berpatisipasi dalam studi mengenai pahlawan perempuan di dalam film fantasi dan abad pertengahan, tulisan ini ditulis dalam rangka menganalisa salah satu tokoh pahlawan perempuan dalam film seri yang berjudul Game of Throne, terutama pada seri ke-3. Tujuan dari penulisan ini adalah untuk melihat posisi pahlawan perempuan tersebut terhadap karakter laki-laki dan posisinya dalam lingkungan dengan menggunakan teori female grotesque, teori dekonstrusi oleh Jacques Derrida, teori relasi kuasa oleh Henry, dan teori mengenai karakteristik pahlawan oleh Hourihan. Hasil dari analisis ini menunjukkan bahwan Brienne of Tarth sebagai pahlawan perempuan dalam seri Game of Thrones belum mendapatkan kesetaraan atau bersikap mandiri terhadap karakter laki-laki.

To participate in the study about Heroine?s position in medieval fantasy movies, this paper is written in order to examine a heroine character in Game of Thrones series, especially in season 3. The purpose of this writing is to see the position of that heroine toward other male characters and surroundings by using theories about female grotesque, deconstruction by Jacques Derrida, power relation by Henry, and hero characteristics by Hourihan. "Representasi wanita dalam industri perfilman menunjukkan bahwa penggambaran karakter perempuan masih erat kaitannya dengan peran yang kurang signifikan sebagai karakter minor. Sebagai konsekuensi dari karakterisasi gender antara perempuan dan laki-laki, karakter perempuan seringkali digambarkan melalui karakterisasi yang cenderung lemah dan tidak berdaya, yang dalam hal ini berpengaruh terhadap degradasi citra perempuan di industri perfilman. Namun, sebuah serial televisi fiksi ilmiah berjudul Orphan Black, berhasil mewakili perempuan melalui kualitas feminin dan maskulin melalui karakter-karakter perempuan yang tampak mendefinisikan kembali ideologi gender. Akan tetapi, ideologi gender dalam serial televisi tersebut menunjukkan beberapa isu gender yang kontradiktif. Oleh karena itu, melalui konsep gender dan maskulinitas, makalah ini akan menganalisis karakter-karakter dalam serial televisi Orphan Black untuk menelaah aspek pemberdayaan perempuan dengan menggunakan teori gender dan maskulinitas dalam menganalisis karakter-karakter klon wanita, serta narasi film guna menyingkap ideologi gender yang cenderung direpresentasikan ambivalen dalam film Orphan Black.

Women representation in film industry shows that numerous images of women are still associated with less important role as minor characters. As a consequence of gender characterization of women and men, women charachters mostly suffer from weak and powerless characterization, and it contributes to the degradedation of women 39 s image in film industry. A science fiction TV series called Orphan Black, nonetheless, manages to represent women through their feminine as well as masculine qualities that seem to redefine the gender ideology. However, the tv series also shows some contradicly gender issues. Through the concepts of gender and masculinity, this paper will analyze the characters to see the empowerment aspects by using gender and masculinity theory to analyze the female clone characters and the narrative of Orphan Black to expose its ambivalent gender ideology."
