"ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengamati isu seksualitas perempuan terkait dengan konsep keperawanan dan hubungannya dengan fenomena labeling pada perempuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan film drama remaja Cruel Intentions (1999) sebagai korpusnya, dan tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara konsep keperawanan, labeling, dan perbedaan tingkat emansipasi yang dimiliki oleh masing-masing karakter pada film tersebut. Melalui analisis tekstual yang didasari oleh teori Bay-Cheng mengenai dikotomi virgin/slut, penulis meneliti perspektif karakter-karakter perempuan di film ini Kathryn, Cecile, and Annette mengenai seksualitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan pemahaman konsep keperawanan yang dimiliki setiap karakter menghasilkan tingkat emansipasi yang berbeda-beda.

ABSTRACTThis research paper investigates the issue of female sexuality regarding virginity and how it correlates to the phenomena of labeling among young women. In this paper, the corpus of the study is the romantic teen drama movie, Cruel Intentions (1999), and the purpose of the research is to find the relation between virginity, labeling, and the different degrees of liberation of each character of the movie. Applying textual analysis, I examine the female characters Kathryn, Cecile, and Annette view of sexuality using Bay-Cheng s theory of virgin/slut dichotomy. The findings of this research suggest that since they have different attitudes towards virginity, they show different degrees of liberation."
