""Nine in ten new products undergo a rigorous research and development procedure, require new manufacturing processes -- and still never earn a dime! A major reason for this staggering new product failure rate is the inability of companies to internally transfer products-in-development from one department to the next. This book explains how to remove the barriers from that transfer process and consistently get new products to market one step ahead of the competition. How are today's most successful new product development programs using familiar tools and techniques in new and innovative ways? This timely guide features eye-opening case studies and examples, then helps decision makers visualize a restructured transfer process and quickly develop and implement that process. New Product Development and Delivery will allow managers of any company, regardless of size, to improve profitability, increase competitiveness, and promote teamwork and cooperation throughout the entire organization.""

"New Product Development (NPD) is about the ideation, formulation, and implementation of new and superior solutions in the market. Beyond the obvious need for organizations to innovate in order to compete, embedded in any NPD program are knowledge, technological expertise, and the social networks that convert these capabilities into offerings that create value at every level, for customers, industries, communities, and regions.
This volume provides an array of knowledge perspective in NPD across multiple levels of analysis and geographic regions, including Europe, the United States, China, Japan, and India, to explore the dynamics of NPD in today’s global environment. Presenting case studies from such industries as ICT services, semiconductors, software development, bio-technology, higher education, and even safety for children’s toys, and drawing from a variety of theoretical perspectives, including technology and knowledge management, sociology, economic geography, and organizational behavior, the authors highlight critical success and failure factors in NPD.
Among the topics covered, new product development teams, including multi-functional and multi-site teams, de-localization and off-shoring of tasks and processes, individual competencies and organizational capabilities, university-industry interactions, high-tech clusters, and technology transfer, and technology policy."

In recent year, industries consumer preferences are subject to changes quickly. New regulations and the climate of competitions among companies stimulate changes at the market placed product. New product development teams are challenged to accelerate their work. This is due to the product life cycle is getting shorter and to avoid change of preference before the product launched. The new product team's knowledge of the character of the previous products and processes is needed to accelerate the process of developing new products. The involvement of supplier and user in preparing new product should not be forgotten. The knowledge they have about previous products and processes must also be collected. Users may have complaints on the previous product, while suppliers may have difficulties in creating the supply. This paper proposes a knowledge management framework in developing new product in order to improve product quality and shorten time-to-market with involvement of user and supplier perspective. A model was developed based on literature review and expert interview. The proposed model has three dynamic processes: knowledge creation, knowledge diffusion, and knowledge storage. A design structured matrix (DSM) was created to analyze the relationship between stages in the framework. To test the framework, a case study has done in an automotive company. The case study resulting on a proof that the developed model contributes to shorten the product's time-to-market. Future research shall apply other factors that affect product time-to-market and test the model to the other industries."
