This care report was a treatment of anterior open bite with multiloop edgewise archwire (MEAW). The patient was a class II skeletal pattern nineteen year old girl. The possible etiology of this case was sucking habit and skeletal dysplsia. In 14 months the ideal class I molar and canine relationship was archieved.

"Anterior crossbite occurs in children and adult. This anterior crossbite could be a dental (pseudo class III) or a skeletal class III malocclusions. A 15 years old young female came to orthodontic clinic RSGM FKGUI with maxillary dental crowding which canines were more protruded. The dental of mandible were more protruded than maxillary dental. The clinical examination, anamnesis, functional analyses and cephalometric evaluation and model study showed that it was a skeletal class III malocclusion with maxillary skeletal retrusion. To treat the anterior crossbite, the inclined bite plane isused for 2 weeks and followed by fixed appliance. After 2 month treatment, the anterior crossbite is resolved. The result of cephalometric evaluation showed that the use of inclined bite plane as a tool is quite effective to resolve this case."

"Successful treatment of the adult patient with an open bite dental or skeletal pattern often presents a difficult challenge. The causes of open bite may be multifactorial in nature, there are spesific diagnostic criteria that may allow for an orthodontic treatment modality incorporating extraction therapy with retraction of incisors.
The intent of this article is to describe and demonstrate the extraction treatment of a open bite caused by a hyperdivergent facial pattern."

"Indonesian Journal of Dentistry 2006; Edisi Khusus KPPIKG XIV: 155-158
The causes of TMD are complex and multifactorial, therefore the management should be done by several disciplines. ln this report, a 27-year-old man came to the teaching hospital of the University of Indonesia Faculty of Dentistry's Prosthodontic Department complaining about clicking sound and pain around his right joint. He received orthodontic treatment 9 years ago with removable appliance at a private practice and had 4 premolar extraction. The patient's face looked asymmetric, with a low vertical dimension, a Class II occlusion, and an anterior deep bite. Besides that, he clenched his teeth during emotional stress. Lateral tanscranial photo showed that the position of the left condyle was relatively normal or slightly anterior, and the right condyle was in the superoposterior position in the fossa with an abnormal shape. To solve this problem, the patient was referred to the Orthodontic Deparment to get a correct vertical dimension and normal anterior overbite. After 6 years, the patient was again referred to the prosthodontic Department, but the result was not successful. In order to get the right vertical dimension, an occlusal splint was fabricated to achieve a comfort jaw relation. In this position, the overbite was 2 mm, but space between the upper and lower posterior teeth was 5 mm. In this situation, full veneer crowns were not impossible to fabricate. Finally, to maintain this comfort position, the patient was suggested to wear the occlusal splint and come regularly for control every 6 months."

Kesimpulan: terdapat pengaruh deep bite terhadap status periodontal gigi anterior maksila dan mandibula, Deep bite is the second most frequent malocclusion occurs. Research on the effects of deep bite to the periodontal status are still rare. Objective: Knowing the influence of deep bite to the periodontal status on maxillary and mandibular anterior teeth. Methods: A cross-sectional analytical study using medical records of patients in Peridontal Clinic with deep bite and normal bite each 50 data. Result: There were significant differences the average pocket depth, attachment loss, gingival recession (p<0,05) between normal bite and deep bite (Mann Whitney). Conclusions: there is influence of deep bite on periodontal status of maxillary and mandibular anterior teeth]"

"Dental fusion is the most common problem seen in the primary dentition. The incidence of dental fusion was approximately 0,5 % for deciduous dentition and 0,1% for permanent dentition. Fusion may be complete or incomplete. Its etiology was related to genetic or local factor. These anomaly could result in dental caries, esthetic problem, periodontal disease, dental malocclusion, and hypodontia in permanent dentition. Treatment of fused teeth depends on the location and the extent of fusion. This report describes an incomplete dental fusion wilh dentinal caries occurred on 72 and 73 while 32 was agenesis. The purpose of the treatment was to improve the esthetic performance and subsequently to keep the teeth until the exfoliation time. After the restoration of 72 and 73, the patient feel satisfied."

"In some cases, either dentist or patient complains about the appearance of anterior composite restoration. This problem caused by the wrong shading concept in handling variety of available composite systems. layering concept performs to overcome this problem by helping the clinician to understand the correct shading concept. This paper reports some cases in which need anterior composite restoration and restored according to layering concept. The conclusion of these three cases are that understanding the optical characteristic of dental composite and using the same composite system is important to achieve the esthetic goal."

"Anterior Tongue Thrust Swallow (ATTS), a swallowing pattern by pushing the tongue onto anterior dentition, can initiate malocclusion in the anterior region, which will create psychophysiological problems due to aesthetic, speech, and mastication disorders. The use of a Tongue Crib (TC) as a corrective device for ATTS is to block the force of tongue against the anterior teeth. Wearing a TC will have an experience of discomfort for the patient and can be an obstacle in using TC regularly, lengthening the period of treatment. A clinical trial with 25 subjects using TC in their retention period, and 48 patients only using Hawley
retainer without crib as control, was carried out from September 2004 until May 2005 in the FKG UI Orthodontics clinic, the Orthodontics Clinic of Lembaga Kedokteran Gigi (Ladokgi) TNI AL R.E. Martadinata and in a specialist clinic. The survival analysis for the TC users, associated with sensor time, indicates that 25 of the TC users had not succeeded to correct ATTS. A discomfort questionnaire (DQ) was specifically designed for this study, consisting of 9 items. A significant result was that the discomfort experienced was one of the risk factor for the ineffectiveness of Tongue Crib in correcting ATTS."
