Foreign Direct Investment has a significant role in the Indonesian economy as a positive influence to encourage economic growth in Indonesia. This study examines a number of determinants of Foreign Direct Investment in Indonesia, which includes Gross Domestic Product, Economic Openness, the Consumer Price Index, Money Supply, Composite Stock Price Index as well as taxes. This study shows that the increase in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Consumer Price Index (CPI) gave a positive relation to Foreign Direct Investment, while the variable Economic Openness (EO), Money Supply (M2), Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) and Taxes (Tax) have a negative relation to Foreign Direct Investment using Vector Error Correction Model (VECM).
From the estimation, VECM also found that Economic Openness is the sole result that shows the negative relation in Foreign Direct Investment short-term equilibrium model. Other results as indicated by Granger Causality test that there is a causal relation both directions at variable Foreign Direct Investment to the Consumer Price Index, Foreign Direct Investment to GDP and Foreign Direct Investment to the Money Supply.

In general, this study analyzes whether agency theory or signaling theory explains dividend smoothing in Indonesia. Cross-sectional test of 33 firms in Indonesia listed on Bursa Efek Indonesia from 2004-2014 shows that firms with low market-to-book ratio, small viewed from their total assets, and high volatility of stock return, have higher degree of dividend smoothing. This result gives support that agency theory and signaling theory simultaneously explain the decision of dividend smoothing."

Indonesia's main economic issue nowdays is to increase economic activity, both new investment and development of existing investments. The economic crisis is happening now can be used as a positive momentum to attract foreign capital, because capital movements are heading to Asia, including Indonesia. Types of foreign capital is expected to be most good to increase the economy is Foreign Direct Investment. Foreign capital investment portfolio is not good for stability, because it can be in and out quickly and strongly influenced by sentiment.
This research was conducted with the aim to perform an analysis of the factors affecting the Foreign Direct Investment in Indonesia, namely the Gross Value Added, the real interest rate, amount of Manpower, Infrastructure, the impact of 1996 Asian crisis and the impact of changes in government policy in the Foreign Direct Investment.
Analyses were performed by multiple regression analysis model by using the data panel method and the Fixed-effect estimation model. The data used is panel data of six sectors (Mining and Quarrying; Industry: Wholesale and Retail, Restaurant and Communications; Transport, Storage and Communication; Finance and Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Plantation during) the period 1990 to 2010.
The analysis showed that the Gross Value Added has positive and significant impact on increasing Foreign Direct Investment. Meanwhile, real interest rates have significant negative impact on Foreign Direct Investment. In addition, the analysis also proved that the economic crisis of 1998 as a dummy variable shown to decrease the amount of Foreign Direct Investment.
