"ABSTRAKPenelitian ini berfokus pada pengalaman dalam kepatuhan dan menjalani self care pada individu lanjut usia dengan Diabetes Melitus yang menjalankan terapi pengobatan hipoglikemik dan insulin. Desain kualitatif fenomenologi dipilih untuk menggali pengalaman secara individual. Dua belas partisipan ditentukan secara purposive sampling. Wawancara secara semi terstruktur dilakukan dan direkam mempergunakan tape recorder. Analisis data menggunakan content analysis Colaizzi mendapatkan tema : self adjusment dalam pemberian obat DM, self control dengan penyuntikan insulin, penyuntikan insulin memberikan harapan dalam mengelola kadar gula darah, masalah psikologis akibat terapi jangka panjang, tidak menyadari dampak negatif dari ketidakpatuhan, pengaruh proses penuaan terhadap kemampuan self care pengobatan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa ketidakpatuhan selama menjalankan terapi hipoglikemi oral insulin pada lanjut usia dengan Diabetes Melitus tipe 2 tidak disadari, sementara pengalaman dalam menjalankan self care dipengaruhi oleh proses penuaan. Hasil penelitian ini merekomendasikan perlunya intervensi untuk meningkatkan kesadaran diri tentang adanya ketidakpatuhan dan melatih self care yang tepat dalam menjalankan terapi hipoglikemi oral dan insulin diperlukan sebagai bagian dari pengelolaan pada individu lanjut usia dengan DM.

ABSTRACTThis study focuses on the experienced of adherence and self care of Diabetic elderly toward oral hypoglycemi and insulin therapy. A phenomenological qualitative design was chosen to obtain experience of 12 participants. Determined using a purposive sampling method. A semi-structured interviews were tape recorded. Theme emerged from the Colaizzi’s qualitative content analysis were: self adjusment in taking medication for Diabetes Melitus, self control in insulin injection, insulin injection gives a hope to control blood glucose level, psychologycal problems caused by long term therapy, negative impact non-adherence is not realised, aging process influences self care experience toward oral hypoglychemi and insulin therapy. This study concludes that non-adherence toward oral hypoglycemia and insulin therapy among elderly with type 2 Diabetes are not realized, while experience of self care are influenced by the aging process. It recommended that intervention to raise the elderly self awareness toward non-adherence and to train an appropriate self care toward oral hypoglychemi and insulin therapy are required as parts of elderly in type 2 Diabetes management."
