"[ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara optimisme dan motivasi berprestasi pada mahasiswa penerima beasiswa Bidikmisi di Universitas Indonesia. Menurut Scheier dan Carver (1985) optimisme adalah keyakinan secara umum bahwa akan terjadi sesuatu yang baik. Menurut Atkinson (dalam Passer, 2007) motivasi berprestasi adalah keinginan yang positif untuk menyelesaikan tugas-tugas dalam suasana persaingan untuk memperoleh sukses dengan standar yang tinggi. Secara keseluruhan, 247 mahasiswa penerima beasiswa Bidikmisi berpartisipasi dengan cara mengisi kuesioner optimisme dan motivasi berprestasi. Pengukuran optimisme menggunakan alat ukur Life Orientation Test-Revised (LOT-R) yang dikembangkan oleh Scheier, Carver dan Bridges (1994), sedangkan motivasi berprestasi diukur menggunakan alat ukur Achievement Motives Scale-Revised (AMS-R) oleh Lang dan Fries (2006). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa optimisme dan motivasi berprestasi memiliki korelasi positif yang signifikan (r=0,15, p=0,018) Hasil korelasi antara optimisme dan dimensi-dimensi motivasi berprestasi menunjukkan korelasi positif yang signifikan antara optimisme dan motivasi berprestasi dimensi hope of success (r=0,216, p=0,001) dan tidak tidak terdapat korelasi antara optimisme dan motivasi berprestasi dimensi fear of failure (r=0,025, p=0,701).

This research was conducted to investigate the correlation between optimism and achievement motivation among college student with Bidikmisi scholarship at Universitas Indonesia. According to Scheier and Carver (1985) optimism is general expectation the good thing will happen. "Prestasi menjadi salah satu isu penting pada remaja. Ayah berperan penting dalam pencapaian prestasi pada anak. Penelitian ini meneliti hubungan antara keterlibatan ayah dengan aspek hope for success (HS) dan fear of failure (FF) dari motivasi berprestasi pada mahasiswa Universitas Indonesia dengan urutan kelahiran sulung. Alat ukur yang digunakan yaitu Reported Father Involvement Scale (RFIS), bagian dari Father Involvement Scale (FIS) yang disusun oleh Finely dan Schwartz (2004) untuk mengukur keterlibatan ayah dan Achievement Motives Scale-Revised (AMS-R) yang disusun oleh Lang dan Fries (2006) untuk mengukur kedua aspek motivasi berprestasi. Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 206 orang yang tersebar dari 12 fakultas dan 1 program studi di Universitas Indonesia.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan signifikan antara keterlibatan ayah dan aspek hope for success (HS) (r=0,086; p>0,05; two tailed) dan fear of failure (FF) (r=-0,064; p>0,05; two tailed) dari motivasi berprestasi pada mahasiswa Universitas Indonesia dengan urutan kelahiran sulung.

Achievement is one important issue in teenagers and father has important role in the life of their children. This study focused on correlation between father involvement with achievement motivation aspects on hope for success (HS) and fear of failure (FF), in Universitas Indonesia firstborns. There are two instruments used, Reported Father Involvement Scale (RFIS), which is part of Father Involvement Scale (FIS) developed by Finely and Schwartz (2004) to measure father involvement, and Achievement Motives Scale-Revised (AMS-R), developed by Lang and Fries (2006) to measure both achievement motivation aspects. The participants are 206 students from 13 faculties and 1 study program in Universitas Indonesia.
The results shown no significant correlation between father involvement with achievement motivation aspects on hope for success (HS) (r=0,086; p>0,05; two tailed), and there are no significant correlation between father involvement and fear of failure (FF) aspect (r=-0,064; p>0,05; two tailed), in Universitas Indonesia first borns.

"[Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat apakah terdapat hubungan antara optimisme dan stres pada mahasiwa penerima beasiswa Bidikmisi di Universitas Indonesia. Optimisme dalam penelitian ini didefinisikan sebagai sebagai keyakinan umum bahwa akan terjadi sesuatu yang baik (Schieier & Carver, 1985). Stres dalam penelitian ini merupakan keadaan yang muncul ketika individu merasa bahwa ia tidak dapat secara memadai mengatasi tuntutan yang ditunjukkan pada dirinya atau merasakan adanya ancaman terhadap dirinya (Lazarus, 1966). Life Orientation Test-Revised (Carver & Scheier, 1988) dan Perceived Stress Scale (Scheier, Carver, & Bridges, 1994) digunakan untuk mengukur optimisme dan stres mahasiswa. Dalam penelitian ini mengambil sebanyak 258 mahasiswa Bidikmisi UI dari angkatan 2014 sampai 2011. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan signifikan dan negatif antara optimisme dan stres pada mahasiswa penerima beasiswa Bidikmisi.

"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan antara optimisme dan general self-efficacy (GSE) pada mahasiswa penerima Beasiswa Bidikmisi di Universitas Indonesia (UI). Optimisme didefinisikan sebagai ekspektasi atau pengharapan yang bersifat umum pada seorang individu, bahwa hal-hal baik akan terjadi dan hal-hal buruk hampir minim akan terjadi di masa mendatang. GSE didefiniskan sebagai persepsi dan belief individu tentang dirinya sebagai orang yang mampu untuk melakukan beragam tugas dalam berbagai macam situasi secara efektif pada konteks yang luas. Pengambilan data dilakukan pada 250 partisipan mahasiswa penerima Beasiswa Bidikmisi di UI dengan menggunakan dua buah kuesioner, Life Orientation Test Revised (LOT-R) untuk mengukur optimisme dan General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) untuk mengukur GSE. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara optimisme dan GSE (r = 0.263, p = 0.000) pada mahasiswa penerima Beasiswa Bidikmisi di UI. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi skor optimisme individu, maka semakin tinggi pula skor GSE.

The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between optimism and general self-efficacy (GSE) among students of Bidikmisi Scholarship at Universitas Indonesia. Optimism was defined as „„the generalized outcome expectancies in individuals that good things will happen in the future and bad things will be minimal”. GSE was defined as “individuals‟ perception and belief in their tendency to view themselves as capable of performing task demands across variety of different situations effectively in a broad array of contexts”. Two questionnaires, Life Orientation Test Revised (LOT-R) measured optimism and General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) measured GSE, were used to obtain data from 250 students of Bidikmisi Scholarship at Universitas Indonesia as participants. The result of Pearson Correlation Test indicated positive and significant correlation between optimism and GSE (r = 0.263, p = 0.000). The result explained that the higher score of optimism, would be followed by higher score of GSE."

Partisipan penelitian berjumlah 71 orang mahasiswa laki-laki dan perempuan yang berusia antara 18-23 tahun. Self-esteem adalah sikap positif atau negatif seseorang terhadap dirinya sendiri. Motivasi berprestasi adalah kebutuhan untuk melakukan
sesuatu dengan baik atau meraih kesuksesan yang dibuktikan dengan kegigihan dan usaha dalam menghadapi kesulitan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian korelasional dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Pengukuran self-esteem menggunakan
alat ukur Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale sementara motivasi berprestasi diukur menggunakan Achievement Motives Scale-Revised (AMS-R). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara self-esteem dan motivasi
berprestasi pada mahasiswa perantau di Universitas Indonesia (r= .340, p < 0.01). Hasil tersebut membuktikan bahwa self-esteem dan motivasi berprestasi memiliki peran penting pada kesuksesan akademis seseorang dan juga aspek kehidupan yang lain terutama pada mahasiswa perantau di Universitas Indonesia.

"Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat hubungan antara social comparison dan motivasi berprestasi pada mahasiswa di Indonesia. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah 488 mahasiswa program sarjana dan diploma dari berbagai perguruan tinggi di Indonesia. Social comparison diukur dengan menggunakan INCOM oleh Gibbons dan Buunk (1999). Motivasi berprestasi diukur dengan menggunakan AMS-R oleh Lang dan Fries (2006). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa social comparison dimensi ability tidak berkorelasi secara signifikan dengan motivasi berprestasi dimensi hope of success, namun berkorelasi secara positif dan signifikan dengan dimensi fear of failure. Social comparison dimensi opinion berkorelasi secara positif dan signifikan dengan motivasi berprestasi dimensi hope of success dan dimensi fear of failure. Dari hasil tersebut, disarankan untuk melakukan penelitian lanjutan untuk melihat pengaruh antara kedua variabel itu.

This study was conducted to investigate the correlation between social comparison and achievement motivation among college students. The participants were 488 undergraduate and diploma students from various universities in Indonesia. Social comparison was measured by INCOM, constructed by Gibbons and Buunk (1999). Achievement motivation was measured by AMS-R, constructed by Lang and Fries (2006). The results show that social comparison?s ability dimension is not significantly correlated with hope of success dimension of achievement motivation, but positively and significantly correlated with the fear of failure dimension. Social comparison's opinion dimension is positively and significantly correlated with achievement motivation's hope of success dimension and fear of failure dimension. Based on these findings, further research is suggested to find the effect between these two variables.

"Bertentangan dengan kualitas secara umum yang dimiliki anak berbakat yang membuatnya diharapkan untuk menampilkan produktivitas dan pemenuhan diri, penelitian-penelitian yang telah dilakukan sebelumnya justru menemukan setidaknya 15-50 persen jumlah siswa berbakat dalam suatu kelas mengalami fenomena underachievement. Fenomena ini dijelaskan sebagai adanya ketidaksesuaian antara potensi yang dimiliki dengan prestasi yang ditunjukkan dimana prestasi berada lebih rendah daripada potensi yang dimiliki. Underachievement biasanya dimulai pada pertengahan Sekolah Dasar, akan tetapi baru pada Sekolah Menengah Pertama atau kala anak berbakat menginjak usia remaja gejalanya menetap dan lebih terlihat. Penyebab underachievement sendiri lebih mengarah pada kurangnya motivasi berprestasi yang menyebabkan perilaku-perilaku yang tidak mendukung pencapaian prestasi yang sesuai dengan kemampuan yang dimiliki. Tuckman (1999) mengajukan tripartite model of motivation for achievement yang terdiri dari 3 komponen attitude, drive, dan strategy. Model ini dinilai sesuai untuk menjelaskan mengenai gambaran motivasi berprestasi pada anak berbakat berprestasi kurang karena Tuckman lebih memfokuskan pada "will", daripada "skill" yang tentunya telah dimiliki oleh anak-anak berbakat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi gambaran motivasi berprestasi berdasarkan tripartite model of motivation for achievement, antara attitude, drive, dan strategi yang dimiliki remaja berbakat berprestasi kurang. Attitude dioperasionalisasikan ke dalam konsep self efficacy, drive dioperasionalisasikan ke dalam konsep incentive value, dan strategy dioperasionalisasikan ke dalam konsep self regulation. Hasil yang didapatkan dari penelitian yang menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui wawancara langsung kepada 5 orang subyek cukup menarik. Keunikan tiap subyek terlihat dimana 2 dari 5 orang subyek menunjukkan karakteristik orang dengan self efficacy tinggi, dua lainnya menunjukkan self efficacy yang rendah, sedangkan satu orang subyek menunjukkan self efficacy menengah. Hasil pada komponen selanjutnya adalah kelima subyek memiliki incentive value berupa motivasi ekstrinsik dan intrinsik yang mendorong usahanya mencapai prestasi yang baik. Terakhir, pada gilirannya kelima subyek mengaplikasikan strategi-strategi efektif yang dapat membantunya dalam mencapai prestasi yang baik. Akan tetapi, peneliti menemukan masalah pada strategi dimana walaupun subyek melakukan strategi-strategi pembelajaran yang dianggap efektif, namun usaha mereka seringkali terganggu oleh hal-hal lain di luar pembelajaran sehingga prestasi yang diharapkan pun belum dapat terwujud.

Gifted children are known to have certain qualities that would help them fulfil stereotypic expectations of productivity and self-fulfilment. Unfortunately, some research has found that 10-50 percents of gifted children are facing underachievement syndrome. This phenomenon of underachievement is defined as discrepancy between actual and expected levels of attainment. While signs of underachievement often begin by third or fourth grade, middle school or junior high usually marks the highest point of consistent underachievement. It may simply become more visible when children reach adolescence. The causes of underachievement lead to lack of achievement motivation. The problem in achievement motivation can make children behave in unconstructive ways in order to gain achievement that is relevant to the potential they possess. Tuckman (1999) presented tripartite model of motivation for achievement that includes three generic motivational factors that influence outcome attainment: attitude, drive, and strategy. This model is appropriate to describe gifted underachievers achievement motivation because its focus is on will, or the motivation to achieve the outcome that is considered separately from level of skill, that is controlled for in sampling of gifted children. The purpose of this research is to explore achievement motivation of gifted underachievers based on Tuckman`s tripartite model of motivation for achievement, which includes attitude, drive, and strategy. The factors of the model are operationalized as self-efficacy for attitude, incentive value for drive, and self-regulation for strategy. The qualitative research was conducted by interviewing five subjects that represented the appropriate characteristics of adolescent gifted underachievers. It brings interesting and unique results of all five gifted underachiever subjects. Firstly, two out of five subjects have shown characteristics of people high in self-efficacy, while two others shown the other way around. The other subject tends to show middle level of self-efficacy. Secondly, all five subjects have shown incentive value from extrinsic and intrinsic motivation that drives them to work hard for good performance. In turn, all five subjects apply effective learning strategies that can help them realize high achievement. However, research have found problem in learning strategies done by subjects where subjects are prone to obstacles outside the realm of learning that makes them underachieve."

Motivasinya yang tinggi, iklim motivasi yang positif dan dukungan sosial yang mendorong seseorang antuk berprestasi baik merupakan kondisi yang sangat kondusif bagi keberhasilan mahasiswa.
Namun, apakah iklim motivasi yang ada diantara mahasiswa maupun yang dipersepsi sebagai ada oleh mahasiswa. Benar-benar merupakan iklim motivasi yang positif, belum banyak distudi. Motivational Gravity merupakan konsep yang memfokuskan perhatian pada sejauh mana lingkungan (atasan, rekan, bawahan) seseorang mendorong atau mendukung keberhasilan prestasi.
Studi ini menggali tentang bagaimana gambaran motivational gravity pada situasi kerja dan pada situasi kemahasiswaan. Apakah atasan, baik pria maupun wanita, akan kerja pria maupun wanita akan mendorong atau akan menghambat rekan kerjanya yang menunjukkan prestasi menonjol.Dan pada situasi kemahasiswaan, apakah mahasiswa senior pria maupun wanita dan rekan mahasiswa lainnya akan mendorong atau menghambat rekan mahasiswa tertentu yang berprestasi baik.
Ada 4 kemungkinan kombinasi Motivational Gravity yang bisa terjadi, yang pertama adalah Motivational Gravity positif, yaitu keadaan dimana baik atasan/senior maupun sesama rekan kerja/mahasiswa sama-sama mendukung keberhasilan rekan yunior lain yang cukup menonjol.
Yang kedua adalah Motivational Gravity negatif, dimana baik atasan/senior maupun sesama rekan kerja/mahasiswa sama-sama menghambat/menekan karyawan/mahasiswa yang prestasinya menonjol tersebut.
Selain itu bisa juga terjadi MG + - ataupun MG - +, di mana antara atasan/senior dan selama rekan kerja/mahasiswa ada yang mendorong dan ada pula yang menghambat.
Penelitian ini dilakukan pada mahasiswa F. Psikologi dan F. Teknik - Arsitektur UI. Jumlah responden adalah 148 dari Psikologi dan 80 Bari FT. Arsitektur.
Hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut:
1. Terdapat iklim Motivational Gravity positif pada mahasiswa Psikologi maupun FT. Arsitektur, dalam situasi hubungan antar mahasiswa.
2. Dalam situasi hubungan antar rekan kerja, mahasiswa FT. Arsitektur memiliki iklim Motivational Gravity positif. Namun pada mahasiswa Psikologi tidak demikian. Baik atasan pria maupun wanita dipersepsi sebagai cenderung menghambat rekan kerja wanita yunior yang berprestasi dengan menekan/menghambatnya melalui beberapa cara (MG -+). Selain itu, juga dipersepsi adanya hambatan dari sesama rekan wanita terhadap rekan kerja wanita lain yang berprestasi.
3. Secara keseluruhan, mahasiswa UI menunjukkan iklim Motivational Gravity yang positif terutama dalam hubungan antar mahasiswa. Namun dalam situasi kerja, mahasiswa mempersepsi adanya upaya menghambat rekan wanita yunior yang berprestasi oleh atasannya(pria maupun wanita), dan selain juga ada hambatan (sabotase) dari sesama rekan kerja wanita terhadapnya."

"Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara konsep diri dan motivasi berprestasi pada Mahasiswa Universitas Indonesia (UI) dengan urutan kelahiran tengah. Motivasi berprestasi adalah salah satu topik dalam dunia pendidikan. Motivasi berprestasi dilihat melalui dua aspek yaitu Hope of Success (HS) dan Fear of Failure (FF). Seseorang yang memiliki motivasi berprestasi perlu mengetahui konsep diri guna merealisasikannya dengan tingkah laku atau tindakan. Konsep diri merupakan salah satu hal yang dapat dilihat pada fase remaja. Urutan kelahiran yang berbeda tampak pada anak tengah sehingga menjadikannya unik dibandingkan dengan saudaranya. Responden penelitian yang mengisi alat ukur sebanyak 140 dengan rentang usia 18-24 tahun. Hasil penghitungan penelitian menggunakan pearson product moment (p<0.05) menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara konsep diri dan motivasi berprestasi aspek HS dan FF pada Mahasiswa Universitas Indonesia dengan urutan kelahiran tengah.

This research conducted to know the relationship between self concept and achievement motivation in University of Indonesia Students with Middle Birth Order. Achievement motivation is one of the topics in the area of education. Achievement motivation viewed through two aspects: Hope of Success (HS) and Fear of Failure (FF). A person that have an achievement motivation needs to understand their self concept to implement to their attitude or action. Self concept is one thing that can be seen in the adolescent phase. Different birth order appears in the middle of the child so that makes it unique compared to his brother. Survey respondents who filled a total of 140 measuring instrument with an age range of 18-24 years. The results of research using the pearson product moment (p <0.05) showed that there is a significant relationship between self-concept and achievement motivation aspects of HS and FF in University of Indonesia Students with middle birth order."
