"Since the mid 1990s, data hiding has been proposed as an enabling technology for securing multimedia communication, and is now used in various applications including broadcast monitoring, movie fingerprinting, steganography, video indexing and retrieval, and image authentication. Data hiding and cryptographic techniques are often combined to complement each other, thus triggering the development of a new research field of multimedia security. Besides, two related disciplines, steganalysis and data forensics, are increasingly attracting researchers and becoming another new research field of multimedia security. This book, aims to be a forum for all researchers in these emerging fields, publishing both original and archival research results. The 7 papers included in this issue deal with the following topics, protection of digital videos, secure watermarking, tamper detection, and steganography."

"This special issue contains five selected papers that were presented at the Workshop on Pattern Recognition for IT Security, held in Darmstadt, Germany, in September 2010, in conjunction with the 32nd Annual Symposium of the German Association for Pattern Recognition, DAGM 2010. It demonstrates the broad range of security-related topics that utilize graphical data. The contributions explore the security and reliability of biometric data, the power of machine learning methods to differentiate forged images from originals, the effectiveness of modern watermark embedding schemes and the use of information fusion in steganalysis."

"The LNCS journal Transactions on large-scale data- and knowledge-centered systems focuses on data management, knowledge discovery, and knowledge processing, which are core and hot topics in computer science. Since the 1990s, the Internet has become the main driving force behind application development in all domains. An increase in the demand for resource sharing across different sites connected through networks has led to an evolution of data- and knowledge-management systems from centralized systems to decentralized systems enabling large-scale distributed applications providing high scalability. Current decentralized systems still focus on data and knowledge as their main resource. Feasibility of these systems relies basically on P2P (peer-to-peer) techniques and the support of agent systems with scaling and decentralized control. Synergy between grids, P2P systems, and agent technologies is the key to data- and knowledge-centered systems in large-scale environments. This, the seventh issue of transactions on large-scale data- and knowledge-centered systems, contains five revised selected regular papers on the following topics: data management, data streams, service-oriented computing, abstract algebraic frameworks, RDF and ontologies, and conceptual model frameworks."

"These Transactions publish research in computer-based methods of computational collective intelligence (CCI) and their applications in a wide range of fields such as the Semantic Web, social networks and multiagent systems. TCCI strives to cover new methodological, theoretical and practical aspects of CCI understood as the form of intelligence that emerges from the collaboration and competition of many individuals (artificial and/or natural). The application of multiple computational intelligence technologies such as fuzzy systems, evolutionary computation, neural systems, consensus theory, etc., aims to support human and other collective intelligence and to create new forms of CCI in natural and/or artificial systems. This seventh issue contains a collection of ten carefully selected and thorougly revised contributions."

ABSTRACT
Limitations on licensing the use of high resolution remote sensing satellite images such as SPOT-6, SPOT-7, and Pleiades-1A from the National Remote Sensing Data Bank (BDPJN) of the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) to users need data security techniques when distributed through electronic media so that not used illegally by unauthorized parties. Encryption and reversible data hiding are two effective and popular privacy protections that can be chosen as confidential communication solutions. In previous research on joint reversible data hiding in encrypted image (RDHEI), the performance of extracted-bit error rate (EER) and peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) of the recovered image was less satisfactory as the block size decreased. Therefore, this work proposes performance accuracy improvement of the joint reversible data hiding system for remote sensing satellite images from existing reference systems by modifying the fluctuation function in the data extraction process and using the Reed-Solomon (RS) codes embedding technique. Overall, based on experimental results, both the proposed system with fluctuation modification without RS codes and the proposed system with fluctuation modification and RS codes succeeded in reducing the EER, reducing the block size in obtaining error-free extracted-bits, and increasing PSNR compared to the existing RDHEI reference methods for implementation in SPOT-6, SPOT-7, and Pleiades-1A satellite test images."
