"Keberagaman merupakan suatu ciri khas identitas yang selalu melekat pada nilai-nilai sosialbudaya masyarakat Indonesia. Keberagaman juga menjadi motto bangsa Indonesia yang mempersatukan perbedaan yang ada, dalam nilai-nilai multikulturalisme. Namun pemahaman atas makna keberagaman ini tampak belum bisa membawa masyarakat Indonesia mengerti hingga ke akar pengertian atas keberagaman itu sendiri. Hingga sering sekali, kita melihat banyaknya perpecahan dan salah pengertian tentang bentuk keragaman yang ada didalam masyarakat Indonesia itu sendiri. Dengan demikian penulis mencoba untuk memberikan sedikit pandangannya terhadap persoalan atas ragam yang ada dengan menulis sebuah artikel ilmiah. Dengan menggunakan metode Dekonstruksi Jacques Derrida, teori Dekonstruksi Jacques Derrida digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk membongkar dan merekonstruksi ulang makna keberagaman. Hal tersebut akan memperkaya pemahaman dan pengertian atas bentuk keberagaman yang ada di dalam masyarakat Indonesia itu sendiri. Dengan begitu masyarakat Indonesia dengan sendirinya bisa paham dan mengerti lebih baik tentang makna keberagaman. Dengan hasil penelitian bahwa perlunya rekonstruksi pemaknaan ulang makna keberagaman dengan sikap kritis, revitalisasi budaya hingga Pendidikan multikultural.

Diversity is a characteristic of identity that is always attached to social values Indonesian culture. Diversity is also the motto of the Indonesian nation which unites existing differences, in the values ​​of multiculturalism. However, this understanding of the meaning of diversity does not seem to be able to bring Indonesian people to understand the roots of the understanding of diversity itself. Until very often, we see many divisions and misunderstandings about the forms of diversity that exist within Indonesian society itself. "Meningkatnya perkembangan teknologi informasi dan proses globalisasi yang terjadi di seluruh dunia mengakibatkan batas antarnegara, bangsa, maupun budaya seolah-olah hilang. Hal ini mendorong interaksi antara budaya, etnik, maupun bangsa yang berbeda seringkali menimbulkan konflik berdasarkan perbedaan identitas kelompok dan prasangka terhadap kelompok lain. Wacana multikulturalisme menjadi salah satu hal penting dalam upaya menghadapi isu-isu negatif dan konflik yang berhubungan dengan keberagaman. Salah satu upaya penyampaian wacana multikulturalisme tersebut dilakukan dengan berbagai strategi yang digunakan sutradara dalam film animasi anak-anak. Film animasi Die Biene Maja-Der Kinofilm merupakan film animasi yang memiliki wacana multikulturalisme yang sangat kuat. Dengan menggunakan metode pendekatan kualitatif dan kajian pustaka, observasi secara mendalam terhadap film animasi Die Biene Maja-Der Kinofilm dilakukan dengan fokus terhadap permasalahan identitas dan prasangka yang dibentuk dalam film tersebut. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa sutradara film animasi Die Biene Maja-Der Kinofilm menggunakan empat strategi dalam menyampaikan wacana multikulturalisme, yaitu melalui kehadiran sosok inisiator dan mediator, interaksi di luar sarang, pengkhianatan in group dan kemunculan kelompok pahlawan, serta adanya kemenangan bersama. Keempat strategi tersebut digunakan untuk menyampaikan wacana multikulturalisme dalam film animasi Die Biene Maja - Der Kinofilm melalui permasalahan identitas, stereotip, dan konflik yang terbentuk di dalamnya.

The increasing development of information technology and globalization processes that occur around the world resulted the faded boundaries between countries, nations, and cultures. This encourages the interaction between different cultures, ethnicities, and nations often leads to conflict based on differences in group identity and prejudice against other groups. Multiculturalism discourse becomes one of the important things in the effort to face negative issues and conflicts related to diversity. One of efforts to deliver the discourse of multiculturalism is done with various strategies used by the director in the children animated film. The animated film Die Biene Maja Der Kinofilm is an animated film that has a very strong multiculturalism discourses. By using the qualitative approach and literature study, the in depth observation of the Die Biene Maja Der Kinofilm animation film was conducted with a focus on the issues of identity and prejudice formed in the film. The results of the analysis show that the director of the animated film Die Biene Maja Der Kinofilm uses four strategies in conveying the discourses of multiculturalism, namely through the presence of the initiator and mediator, interaction outside the nest, in group betrayal and the emergence of hero groups, and the joint victory. The four strategies are used to convey the discourses of multiculturalism in the animated film Die Biene Maja Der Kinofilm through the identity problems, stereotypes, and conflicts that formed in it."

"Penelitian tentang masalah masyarakat multikultural di Indonesia, khususnya di kota Jakarta, masih sedikit jumlahnya. Di lain pihak, masyarakat kota Jakarta saat ini telah berkembang menjadi masyarakat multikultural yang terdiri atas beragam kelompok etnis dan agama. Perbedaan budaya tersebut, bila ditangani dengan kebijakan yang tepat, maka akan menciptakan kehidupan sosial yang harmonis serta menumbuhkembangkan nilai berdemokrasi. Sebaliknya, kebijakan pemerintah (penguasa) yang tidak tepat dalam menangani keragaman akan melahirkan konflik sosial yang akan mengancam peradaban manusia. Permasalahan yang diangkat dalam tesis ini adalah bagaimana relasi hubungan sosial antar keragaman etnis dan agama di Jakarta? Lebih lanjut lagi, kebijakan apa yang telah diambil oleh Pemerintah Provinsi DKI Jakarta dalam menangani adanya keragaman budaya tersebut?Penelitian ini terfokus pada kebijakan Pemerintah Provinsi DKI Jakarta dalam menangani perrnasalahan yang muncul dari keberadaan masyarakat multikultural di Jakarta antara tahun 1998 sampai 2005, karena pada masa ini tingkat kesadaran etnis dan simbol-simbol keagamaan menjadi lebih terbuka, seiring dengan gerakan reformasi dan demokratisasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik wawancara, studi pustaka dan pengumpulan data-data yang kemudian dianalisis.Dari analisis tersebut penulis menemukan adanya keragaman warga Jakarta telah terjalin hubungan relasi yang baik. Kebijakan Pemprov DKI Jakarta juga telah mengarah pada kerukunan etnis dan agama di Jakarta. Namun nilai-nilai yang mengatur adanya keragaman itu, masih belum terinternalisasi dalam kehidupan sosial, sehingga Jakarta masih rawan konflik sosial manakala ada faktor pemicunya.Untuk meneliti masalah tersebut, penulis menggunakan teori politik multikulutral yang digagas oleh Will Kymlicka yang menekankan pentingnya peranan pemerintah dalam menangani adanya perbedaan kelompok masyarakat atas dasar etnis dan agama. Selain itu, teori Harold R. Ishak juga digunakan yang mengisyaratkan bahaya sentimen kelompok etnis bila tidak diantisipasi dengan tepat.

Research on problems of multicultural society in Indonesia, in Jakarta particularly, is still rare in quantity. On the other hand, Jakarta's community at the moment is expanding to be a multicultural society of various ethnic and religious groups. This cultural difference, when managed with proper and accurate policy will be able to create a harmonious social life and develop a democratic value. On the other hand, a mishap on government policy in dealing with multiculturalism will result in social conflict, which can endanger human civilization.Problem posed in this thesis is how the social relationship between various ethnic and religious groups established in Jakarta? Furthermore, what policy the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta in dealing has taken with this cultural diversity? This research focused on the 1998-2005 policy of the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta in dealing with problems resulted from the existence of multicultural society in Jakarta. In this period of time, the ethnic consciousness and the usage of religious symbols become more visible, in parallel with the reform movement and democratization. This research used interview technique, library research and collecting data, which were analyzed later on.The analysis resulted that the existence of good relationship between diverse groups. The Provincial Government's policy also has able to create a framework for ethnical and religious peace in Jakarta. However, the values underlying this diversity have not internalized within the social life of Jakarta's society and hence Jakarta is still fragile in anticipating emerging social conflict whenever a trigger factor occurs.The theory used to analyze this research problem was the multicultural politics theory posed by Will Kymlicka, which stressed the importance of government's role in dealing with society's diversity in ethnic and religion. Another theory used in this thesis is a theory posed by Harold R. Ishak, which warn the danger of ethnic groups stereotypes if not address properly."

"Kondisi niscaya multikultural masyarakat mendorong usaha rekonseptualisasi kewarganegaraan berbasis negara-bangsa. Kewarganegaraan berbasis negara-bangsa memiliki ketidaksesuaian dengan gerakan multikulturalisme. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendorong usaha rekonseptualisasi kewarganegaraan dalam rangka menyinkronkan kondisi masyarakat multikultural dan tantangan multikulturalisme dengan negara-bangsa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode kualitatif. Dengan pendekatan tersebut, digunakan beberapa sumber pustaka yang dianggap relevan. Informasi yang terkumpul kemudian diolah kembali melalui interpretasi yang berfokus pada pembuktian urgensi rekonseptualisasi kewarganegaraan baru sebagai usaha penyesuaian ulang dengan kondisi masyarakat multikultural dalam rangka pencapaian kompromi sosial di masyarakat. Melalui interpretasi terhadap pemikiran konsep multikulturalisme Kymlicka serta adopsi semangat gerakan kosmopolitanisme, peneliti melakukan pembuktian urgensi rekonseptualisasi kewarganegaraan baru sebagai usaha penyesuaian ulang dengan kondisi masyarakat multikultural dalam rangka pencapaian kompromi sosial di masyarakat. Kehidupan bersama masyarakat yang setara hanya dapat dicapai apabila terjadi rekognisi keanekaragaman kebudayaan masyarakat secara setara serta konstruksi solidaritas masyarakat yang bersifat inklusif melalui sebuah usaha penyesuaian ulang secara konseptual.

The multicultural conditions of societies encourage efforts to reconceptualize nation-based citizenship, which is incompatible with the movement of multiculturalism. This research aims to encourage efforts to reconceptualize citizenship in order to synchronize the conditions of multicultural societies and the challenges of multiculturalism with nations. The method used in this research is the qualitative method. With this approach, it uses several library sources that it considers relevant. The information collected is then re-processed through an interpretation that focuses on proof of the urgency of reconceptualization of new citizenship as an attempt to re-adjust to the conditions of a multicultural society in order to a social compromise in society. Through interpretation of the thinking of the concept of multiculturalism Kymlicka as well as the adoption of the spirit of the movement of cosmopolitanism, the researchers carry out proofs of the urgence of reconception of a new citizenry as a attempt of re-adaption to the circumstances of a multicultural society with a view to achieving social compromises in the society. An equal coexistence can only be achieved by recognizing the cultural diversity of equal communities and building a social solidarity of an inclusive nature through an attempt to reconcile conceptually."

"Kedudukan autos pahlawan olahraga mempunyai peran lebih dari sekedar atlit dalam masyarakat majemuk Amerika sejak tahun 1950an. Mereka tidak hanya dituntut untuk mendominasi bidang olahraganya tetapi juga mewakili perjuangan berbagai kelompok dalam proses penerapan multikulturalisme. Isu-isu yang timbul yaitu pengakuan identitas kolektif dan berbagai isu lain sehubungan dengan perubahan tradisi dalam institusi olahraga tersebut. Tiger Woods seorang pemain golf profesional yang mendominasi bidang olahraganya menjadi sarana dari isu-isu berbagai kelompok yang saling bertentangan, saling mendominasi ataupun benegosiasi. Tiger Woods yang dalam hal ini menjadi media bersikap pragmatis dengan memanfaatkan kembali isu-isu tersebut bagi kepentingan pribadi maupun kepentingan kelompok lain.Melalui pendekatan kualitatif dan cultural studies, dengan menganalisa representasi tokoh Tiger Woods maka dapat ditunjukkan adanya tuntutan suatu media yang dapat mengakomodasi berbagai benturan dan dukungan dalam berbagai kelompok yang ada dalam masyarakat Amerika sehubungan dengan proses multikulturalisme. Representasi dari Tiger Woods yang dimaknai berbeda-beda membuat perubahan pada pemahaman suatu identitas yang sifatnya fixed atau stasis menjadi dinamis dan merupakan negosiasi antara masa lalu dan masa kini. Tiger Woods juga menjadi representasi dalam masyarakat multikultural Amerika bukan hanya karena identitas yang ada pada dirinya tetapi karena fungsi representasi dari Tiger Woods bagi kepentingan berbagai kelompok tersebut.Identitas individu yang dipahami oleh masyarakat didasari oleh kalegori yang berdasarkan pads ras, etnik, gender dan kelas sehingga muncul berbagai tuntutan pada diri Tiger Woods yang memiliki latar belakang biologis multiras dan multi etnik. Kesadaran akan klasifkasi identitas bagi general multiras dimunculkan dalam fenomena ini. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa klasifikasi identitas yang ada dalam masyarakat dituntut untuk dapat disesuaikan dengan perkembangan yang terjadi sehubungan dengan proses multikulturalisme.Tiger Woods dapat mendominasi olahraga golf yang menjadi supremasi monokulturalisme (rich, middle-age white men). Perubahan yang terjadi dalam tradisi golf menjadikan Tiger Woods dimaknai sebagai simbol perjuangan multikulturalisme. Olahraga golf disini menjadi sarana pergesekan antara monokulturalisme dan multikulturalisme. Representasi Tiger Woods dalam perubahan tradisi golf dimanfaatkan oleh berbagai kelompok untuk kepentingan mereka sehubungan dengan olahraga golf isu sendiri maupun kepentingan diluar urusan golf.Dari berbagai pemaknaan dan penggunaan mitos pahlawan olahraga Tiger Woods ini menunjukkan bahwa masyarakal Amerika memerlukan suatu media yang tidak saja merefleksikan suatu proses multikulturalisme tetapi juga terlibat dan berperan dalam pembentukan proses itu sendiri. Representasi Tiger Woods menjadi signifikan karena memproduksi berbagai simbol dan anti, mengorganisir berbagai pemaknaan dan digunakan sebagai acuan berbagai objek, isu, golongan, peristiwa ataupun aturan-aturan secara nyata dalam masyarakat majemuk Amerika, berdasarkan kode-kode yang sesuai dengan latar belakang konsep pemikiran masing-masing kelompok.

The myth of sports heroes or heroines has played some important role in the American multicultural society since the 1950s. They are not demanded not only to dominate the sports but also to represent some groups in the process of implementing multiculturalism. The issues raised are collective identity recognition and some other issues related to the tradition changes in the related sports institutions. Tiger Woods, a dominant professional golfer has facilitated the issues from different groups that opposites, dominated, and negotiated to each other. He, in this respect a negotiator, is pragmatic by employing the issues for his own or other groups' interests.

Through qualitative approach in cultural studies, analyzing the representation of the sports figure Tiger Wood, I can demonstrate that there is a demand that media must be capable of accommodating various conflicts and supports within the American social groups especially if connected to the multicultural process. The representation of Tiger Woods, which is interpreted differently, has changed the understanding of an identity that used to be fixed or static into the one dynamic and negotiating the past and present. Tiger Woods represents the multicultural American society not because of what he has personally but because of his functioning as the representative of those groups.

Individual identity is understood as categorization with the basis of race, ethnic, gender, and class; therefore, there come demands to Tiger Woods, the one who is biologically of multi races and multi ethnics. The awareness of identity classification of the multiracial generation is raised in this phenomenon. This shows that such social classification is required to adjust to the progress of multicultural process.

Tiger Woods can dominate golf, a monoculture hegemony (rich, middle-aged white men). The changes of this tradition have made Tiger Woods a symbol of the multicultural movement. Golf facilitates the negotiation of monoculture-multicultural conflicts. This representation in changing golf tradition is made good use of by some groups for sports and non-sports purposes.

From the meaning and use of the myth of sports heroes, Tiger Woods shows that American society needs a medium that not only reflects the multicultural process but also involves and takes part in the process itself. The representation becomes significant because it produces symbols and meanings, manages several meaning-makings, and is used as standards of various objects, issues, social groups, events or regulations explicitly in the multicultural America with the basis of codes which conform the background thoughts of each social group."

A civilized society need a frame of reference for understanding why social issues as well as the threat of national disintegration as a result of the eruption of the conflict in the form of ethnicity, religion, identity, and culture remains the case for nearly 72 years of Indonesian independence. Followed by what the best solution is expected."
